  • I've played IL2 for nearly 18 months now, and yet I have only uploaded three videos on it so far, this is why.
Normally I like to focus my content on VR gameplay in combat sims like War Thunder, Elite Dangerous, IL2 etc. But with IL2 it has felt like an impossible task. It is nigh on impossible to get the game running smoothly in VR whilst recording at the same time, it just doesn't work.
I play IL2 a lot when not recording, and I can manage a decent performance in VR, but it is nothing compared to the performance I get with head tracking. Its to be expected, the game is running on relatively old software; and if all you are interested in is the immersion then IL2 in VR will be a lot of fun for you. But if you are like me, and you like to be competitive in dogfights etc, then the VR performance is unacceptable - and for now I shall only be using a headtracker when making future IL2 content, which is a shame.
Some people have been able to get pretty good performance with VR in IL2, and I've followed all the forum advice to no avail - from the comments on the forums it seems very hit and miss, and I'm not the only one dissapointed.
