IL2 since time immemorial is hands down one of the most closest things we can get to simulating World War 2 vehicles
TC is only good for multiplayer if you can find a server and some to play with. Apart from that the single player is bad.

The thing many people seems to forget is that War Thunder is totally free. Having a game of this quality for 0 bucks is very nice for all players who wants to initiate into Sim Air Combat games like IL2, which is for me the best one.
I played both IL2 and War Thunder and I love them.
War thunder is free, but I have a bike to pick with it, I’m sure that the reason their ads capture a lot of their target’s attention, is high tech vehicles, little do the people know, that they will have to go through a cash grab grind to get to high tier

My friend and I have over 6 years playing wt and we loved; I buy a few premiums vehicles, premium account for 1 year, nobody is force me to do adquired a premium vehicle or premium account (obiously in discount time). Is a very versatile game with a very wide variety of military vehicles. For my partner, another two players and my ia one of the best military vehicle game.

Good comparison but I wish you would have used a Hi-fidelity model from DCS.. The FC3 planes are cool for beginners but DCS has so much more to offer from their study-level aircraft

@@rinkerchris2474 il2 isnt easy either, just that you don't have to memorize the cockpit buttons (which IMO is easier than setting up the il2 keybinds with the horrible ui)
^^for warbirds. also coming from dcs I find il2 more difficult than dcs, because no fly-by-wire, having to manage engine, no radar or rwr, etc. Dcs is easy once you get the hang of it.
@@fishbed_ Ye, I recently complained about this to my sim friends. While in DCS you gotta set binds for every individual aircraft separately, at least there isn't a million different aircraft specific binds that don't apply to the aircraft you want to fly like in IL2. Like there being, for some reason, around 4 different binds for elevator trim that only work on certain aircraft... Also all of the radiator control specific stuff.
Sometimes the binds can get buggy too in IL2 if you have too many buttons on your stick and throttle.
if you thought the plane at 5:25 was bad with the interior, you should see the early bombers on the Japan air tech tree. The yoke isn't even proberly modeled in one...

I used to play Air Warrior back in the time (quite back) and haven't tried IL-2 so this might not apply, but since you say the FW 190 is your favorite plane, hope you won't mind couple of suggestions.
These applied back then and, historically speaking, is how the German pilots flying the FW 190 used it.
The FW 190 is not what you would call a "turn and burn" airplane. Unlike most of it's contemporaries it likes speed, doesn't lock controls at high speeds and has quite bad turn rate (compared to the Spit and the 109s that could turn on a dime) so getting into a close turn dogfight should be a bad idea in any realistic WWII aircraft flight sim.
FW 190 had 4 cannons (heavy hitter), excellent climb rate and fast max speed, so the so called "boom and zoom" tactics was widely used (unless hunting bombers) in fighter to fighter. At worse case, in a turn fight you need to try preserve the speed as much as possible, using high yoyo maneuvers to try conserve the energy, otherwise any decent spitfire pilot would take you down very fast as the only thing able to turn with the spit, would be the 109.
So I guess what I am saying is come in high, once you got tally on the enemy, try to swoop in at high speed, shoot in passing and zoom out on the other side without making high G maneuvers. Do an energy efficient at the other end and zoom back in. In an ideal world you aim to get from their for a high 4 to 8 o'clock angle. If the armament is realistically designed any fly by hit is potentially lethal.
Hope it helps, though, I have to say, using the FW 190 in a "proper" in AW was boring to me.
Racing simulation far better. Get a really good steering wheel base and steering wheel (Fantec) and have yourself a blast. I would recommend getting something with motion that can sit on your floor with 3 monitors as you drive. The force feedback in the steering wheel is amazing (Fantec). You WILL drop several thousands of dollars for the DOM (Degrees of Movement) apparatus, but you will quickly find it's worth it. Use 2K monitors with high refresh rates of at least 34" per monitor. iRacing is good with some Indy 500 and Daytona tracks and you'll find out that there are a ton of options to make it fun and exciting.

Here is my opinion about spending money on war thunder. Unless you really want one vehicle do not spend anything. Because in dcs world for the price of 60 dollars you could get a full fidelity model which allows you to interact with all instruments war thunder is still fun as well btw
If you´re a VR-enthusiast, there´s just no way arround IL-2.

it seems like you dont have 4k textures for IL-2 enabled. I believe that was also thing 2 years ago. Or maybe a lower graphic preset. That skin on the 190 doesnt look like it should.

Is IL-2 easier to fight in? I have just got into WT sim and have enjoyed it so far and had lots of fun with the dogfighting and I don't mind unpolished cockpits and panels. (First sim I ever played was Hellcats Over the Pacific). I have Cliffs of Dover but wanted to practice War Blunder before moving up. You didn't go into depth about the issues of flight characteristics of WT and stated that IL-2 is more realistic. But what exactly is the issue that WT doesn't do well that is provided in IL-2? You mention that the aircraft felt sluggish and I wonder what your sensitivity settings were. Default on pitch and yaw are reduced to 64% and 49% respectively when I first set up my controls and I have since set the settings to 79% on all. That might have been the issue, or WT just has physics issues in general that I have yet to discriminate against.
War thunder doesnt have very good flight models for most of their aircraft so its going to be difficult to get any kind of realistic stick feel. Il2 is without a doubt a higher quality SIM as far as aircraft design and flight models, and DCS is the king by a WIIDE margin. The jet he showed off in DCS is one of the "simplified" aircraft, similar to what IL2 offers. But DCS also offers Hi-fidelity modules (every button/lever/switch works as it should, and professional flight model) from the WW2 era right up to the 2010's. Each aircraft is around $40-80 USD but you can actually learn to fly the aircraft as you would in real life. The mosquito was just released into pre-order if you're interested ;) lol
In il 2 sturmovik you can find more planes to fly there especially il 2 1946 than war thunder

i am not an expert in sim, bit from my noobish perspective, first I got a cheap flight stick to try sim, when playing WT i found it extremely hard to aim, almost every plane was twitchy Especally spitfire and i tried my best to set all that up in settings like senstivity all that, but it still din't feel right.
R.ecently bought il2, I can definitely feel the difference, Spitfire is a joy to fly, I can aim far more easily, and generally feels better to fly. also mouse head movement without holding a button helps. so for my Cheap flight stick and mouse for head movement IL2 diffnetly MUCH better than ShitThunder.
I think I will want to try out DCS now with better eqipment..
I wouldn't say that IL-2 is easier to fly and fight, the more realistic flight and damage models make it more difficult in my opinion (I find that planes in WT explode quite easily even in simulation mode)
On the other hand, it is true that the finer flight phyiscs give you a much better feeling on how to handle the plane, I cringed at the generic WT stalling simulation in some planes
In any case, it is MUCH more enjoyable to fly in IL-2, the word used in the video, "sluggish", is also how I would describe WT, and no changes in settings has made it better to me.
the il2 sturmovik 1946 game has around 70 flyiable aircraft check it out
ive been playing enlisted. its like warthunders engine but has ground combat in the same battle. It feels really sluggish and the air kill is either instant or never. feels off.. however its super fun to hit ground targets in a bf109 or attack plane. sometimes picking off a tank and maybe 10 infantry

Have not played War thunder but IL2 is a complete WW2 experience, DCS has some maps and planes for WW2, it is more realistic with the engine management the only real problem i see with DCS is how expensive it is and how you need to purchase everything separately.
I have the exact same issue with Warthunder - I REALLY have to force myself to play this game.
And I 100% agree with you assessment about the strange controls. I imagine you play with a Joy stick in WT which has the most god awful input translation I've seen in a sim for joystick usage and if you use HOTAS you can't at all remain competitive with mouse pilots..since they've provided those players with a better flight control system AI assist.

War thunder isnt a flight sim lol its a "I want to fly planes but im too stoned to be bothered with DCS" game lol just put on a podcast and fly with your mouse and keyboard, practice your BFM stress free
@@flighttherapybullisticfpv133 War thunder has a simulator mode - it’s not ultra realistic but it’s certainly (in my opinion) the best mode in the war thunder and it’s very fun to play. It’s obviously not as detailed as DCS but I don’t want to play jets, I want to play a Catalina with RHAF markings and a Hudson… I think that war thunder is the only game I can do this on.
@@flighttherapybullisticfpv133 yeah play sim. Mouse and keyboard is nowhere near as competitive in sim as the instructor is turned off, and the player has (functionally) full control. You'll fly circles around other sim players if the only softens is peripherals.
War Thunder sucks it's no even a proper simulator has unrealistic experience and have been advertised as free to play and has a lot of aircraft purchase through game currency but actually that would take years and war thunder sucks it's the worst and most unrealistic thing ever and flight characteristics of Aircraft in war thunder is pathetic and like kinda stuck and just disgusting I tried war thunder it was stupid

I real comparison would have been to fly a full fidelity plane in dcs including a cold start. It's like you picked the most Sim setting for warthunder and easiest for dcs world. Also FC3 planes are no complicated at all compared to a proper module.

Check out IL2 Clif of Dover and the Tobruk expansion for less than 2 WW2 planes in DCS. For your money you get 87 flyable planes covering 1940 to 1942.IL2 covers the later years . Cockpits are much nicer than in IL2 with some clickable controls. Soundwise it beats DCS and IL2 hands down and the gun effects are better too. Ive got DCS and IL2 and Ciffs of dover is my current favourate. Highly recomended especially with the upcoming true skies update.

War Thunder is just the old Il 2 Sturmovik - Birds of Prey with better graphics and worse plane handling.
I have tried the simulator flight modes several times and it's just not anywhere near acceptable.

I'm a total planes nerd and want to play IL-2 after watching this video. Unfortunately, I know it'll blow up my pc, so I will have to stay with WT, at least until I buy a better pc.
I get better frames in il2 than in wt with the lowest graphic setting, I would at least give it a try if I were you, and then refund if it doesn’t irl out, il2 is great

I stopped playing War Thunder because of ridiculous grinding for research for new planes.
what does that mean? seems to be someone only WT pilots talk about "grinding" , is that in the urban slang dictionary?
@@dabneyoffermein595You have to grind (or in other words play a hell of a lot, especially if you have no premium time which buffs the amount of research you get) to unlock new planes in WT, and modern jets are locked behind hundereds and hundereds of hours of grinding, which can get quite unpleasant if you dont enjoy props.
Russian games are a grind, but if you join a squadron you can get some premium planes from just playing,, im lvl 55 and have a few jets (b57 is fun) , but usually still just play with my 1.3 France, or 2.3 British loadouts in arcade because children.... or just choose a plane for rb or sb and have fun. the real grind is for Silver Lions, later in the game you will have a bunch of planes researched but dont have enough SL.

It should be noted that there are different iterations(3 in total) of IL-2 Sturmovik series. First one is original game(up to 46'), second one is Cliffs of Dover and the third one is so-called "Great Battles" series(reviewed in the video). The biggest problem of the "Great battles" series is small amount of planes and campaigns compared to original IL-2, especially considering that the latter has mods adding absolutely ridiculous amount of content

Well... in Il-2, WW2 aircraft have always been the primary focus.
In DCS... I think it depends on the module you get.
But in summary, what do you think is an acceptable air combat simulator ??? In my opinion DCS has some incredible and great cockpit details it looks very real, IL2 I don't know bro I'm not an expert in aviation physics but they move very strange and graphically it looks very ugly, I have been playing Warthunder currently for a year and I play the simulator mode quite a bit and it is very fun and tense per last night talking on the chat in a game they told me noob for playing sumulator in WT and then I have doubts, WT is a bad game ??? It amuses me a lot but DCS catches my attention, I only see the problem that DCS and IL2 do not have a multiplayer like the one in WT
Yes WT is not the best in my opinion, I just have fun but I don't like the simulator mode because it doesn't feel like a simulator, IL2 feels more real, the graphics are good, not excellent but they're good enough, and DCS is one of the bests but I like WWII aircraft more than jets and all the automation involved, either IL2 or DCS are the best options, they do have multiplayer and they're very active, no more active than war thunder for sure but this is quality, not quantity.
Flight physics in IL2 is the one which comes max close to real.....at least what i can judge, from my real-life experiences.
IL2 Multiplayer is amazing wtf you're on about. Like Finnish servers for example, a lot more realistic and also has tank gameplay along with plane gameplay

Another thing that sealed it for me is the communities, the wt community is toxic, and I often time see people saying stupid stuff and acting like aviation experts (not generalizing, just speaking from experience), in il2, people are usually much more mature and kill my brain cells less

@@GiorgioChiellini723 what effects? DCS has damage granularity within each aircraft. You can actually just rupture hydrolics on a DCS plane and the plane will still fly and show the damage on the wing with fluid coming out. Tell me which one of IL-2 and WT does that?
Coming into this, I was expecting to see some wt community toxicity, but hoping to see some mature wt players, I’m glad to say, there wasn’t too much toxicity, I’m sad to say, that’s only because the comments were mostly flooded with mature people from il2 and dcs 😭
Well my friend and I have over 6 years playing wt and we loved. Is not perfect (no game is perfect); for us wt is a very good game. I know in part why the people are compare wt with dcs but in other hands no. Seamos honestos. Dcs en simulación le gana a war thunder y eso lo digo yo que llevo años jugandolo cómo te mencione pero solo hasta ahí. Te explico el por qué?; pues aquí voy:
Dcs es un juego de simulación aérea, eso es todo en cambio war thunder tiene: tanques ( ligeros, medianos, pesados, súper pesados, ifv, artillería y aa), avionetas, jets, helicopteros, barcos de toda clase (a nivel que tienen el sf 40 que es una barcaza antiaérea, un vehículo que no había ni he visto en ningun otro juego de vehículos militares) y también drones. Osea donde están los tanques en dcs?? Los barcos????? Los drones?????; no tiene por lo tanto war thunder en variedad le gana y por muchísimo. War thunder no es un simulador es un arcade con modos realisticos para aquellos jugadores que deseen algo más hardcore, eso es todo pero los modelos en war thunder están altamente detallados ( sin contar que continuan con los updates para mejorar aún más el juego en todos los aspectos, tanto gráficas, detalles y mecánicas). Por lo tanto war thunder no es un full sim sino un aracade realistico el cual si se puede comparar directamente con wot, wow y ace combat y seamos sinceros wt a los tres les da una barria. Y te hablo de todos esos juegos pq los he probado ( en wot tengo tiers 10, en wow tengo tiers 8) en inclusive tengo las versiones de celular de dichos juegos, he visto muchos juegos dd vehículos militares y war thunder para su categoría está muy bien y es de los mejores. No es perfecto, eso es claro y deben de añadir cosaa y arreglar otra pero si a esas vamos ningun juego es perfecto y es la realidad. He visto jugadores de wt quejandose del juego cómo tembién de dcs uno hasta detallos bien específicamente varias cosas en un jet que no están bien y que no están totalmente reales y otro lo vo diciendo que war thunder tiene mejorea gráficas y cosas así.
in this example the DCS graphic is no where close to actuall WT in the new planes by a big margin not. Maybe the graphic card is to weak? WT looks better with an AMD tuned APU at around 2k 30fps at high with me. Even raytracing works. Incrediball lightefects

War Thunder all the way for me. I don't have to buy the planes and can grind whatever planes I want. They have TONS of planes. And its decently realistic, I don't care about cockpit graphics.

Okay well Arma's a stretch but you kinda do have a point.
Il-2 is way more expensive. With war thunder you can still get prmo vehicles without spending a dime. It takes forever, but you can still do it.. You have to buy IL-2 five times plus the cost of individual planes which costs $1000+ if you want the actual complete game.. Fuck that.
Ez way around that, just wait for a sage, the game goes like 75% off AT LEAST
And the community in il2 is generally much more mature than in wt, the game even has that going for it

This seems to be really biased towards IL2. Yes there are some planes in War Thunder that have a a unfinished cockpit but thats because there are so many planes. The newer ones have a beautiful cockpit. And yes some airplanes are sluggish but not all and it also depends on the settings you are using. But War Thunder isnt a real Flight Simulator anyway and most people play Arcade or Realistic Battles and not SIM.

War thunder isn’t a flight simulator.
Warthunder is best in graphics, has the most planes(+tanks +ships +helicopters) ,has the biggest playerbase and is marginally worse than dcs when it comes to physics. Il2 is the weakest of the bunch
DCS has some of the most realistic graphics in all of gaming. He said that he had his graphics on medium which is alright but it has some limitations. Warthunder is made to look colorful DCS is made to look realistic. There are plenty of ways to make DCS look even better. Not so much with warthunder

yeah, while you fly with a mouse and keyboard. the difference between arcadedy war thunder and dcs/il2 is that most people fly with a decent hotas setup. it's much more immersive, but it does limit the playerbase (because not everyone can afford a $300 hotas setup...) the reward of that is realism.
Also, the fact that you don't even know the controls for War thunder don't make it a fair comparison. War thunder is more realistic than the other two games and it's because of that you don't like war thunder. Because that's almost as real as it gets. That's how planes fly. The other two games are more like arcade games.
That's your opinion which has the same weight as mine, I still think (not considering prices or graphics) that War thunder is not realistic with its physics model, the other 2 simulators are more similar to the simulation achieved in the new flight simulator from Microsoft. I'm not here to tell you you're wrong, I'm just showing you the simulators and saying what I think.
