No handloader rounds? The gun's base damage negates the 2x to enemy dt. I remember a grunt/cowboy hybrid build i did & the survivalist's rifle had over 100 dmg with them
The survivalist's rifle is more of a brute force weapon it doesn't benefit from crits (as well as other guns, thx for correction in replies) because it has a 1x multiplier. A while ago I watched a video of someone using the "eye for an eye" perk with this thing and it was a really interesting watch, I think it might've been taken down because I can't find it anymore.
The weapon critical multiplier effects the weapons chance of landing a critical hit. Every weapon does additional damage with a critical hit. (Some more than others) So it’s not true that it doesn’t benefit from them.
@@theaspect4507 you're right it's better to say that it isn't really optimal because if you're using a crit build you might as well use something like the medicine stick or hunting rifle. Everything benefits from crits but some weapons are worse than others and are just meant for basic dps, like the lmg has a negative multiplier and the All American has a 1x. So if you have low luck then guns like this one are probably you're best bet. I just don't like to think luck is the best for everything, sometimes you'll be doing yourself a favor if you don't pick better criticals for every playthrough because imo that's not how the game is meant to be played when you pick the same perks every character.
@@gabem.397 agree mostly but there's still fun to be had with a crit build utilizing weapons with a 1x or less multiplier. light touch gives 5% regardless of bonuses, which means you can have servicable crit chance with an automatic weapon like the assault carbine, along with it's armor piercing effects and ridiculous dps. laser commander does this also, and i'm sure you can imagine the effectiveness of a gattling laser with 15% crit chance.

With 12.7 JHP rounds It does a whopping 183dmg on crit. Im finding quickly that damage boost perks really onoy benefit Full Auto Weapons
Turbo can just last longer than GRX thanks to its own perk, day tripper and chemist perk. they're both viable but it helps to install a mod that can let you hotkey GRX. the build is just your usual pick all crit related perks and V.A.T.S enhance perks and whatever else perks boost damage .
@@jerav6692 playing on xsx so no mods but yeah inability of implant hotkey is wank. I have implant grx on mine and it works well with hemist and day tripper. With 2048294 consumables every weapon in the game becomes deadly.
💀
Same build, no slow time chems, couriers mile

question- What perks usually benefit brute force weapons or weapons with high DPS?
And I didn't need all them fancy chem either. Loolz
I wiped out that same cave n killed the legendary Deathclaw with my BB gun u find at the bottom of the well if u get the will Wasteland perk.

I make my char Intelligence and Luck build level a bit go Honest Heart acquire Survivalist rifle and A light shining in the Darkness

Waiting at Quartermaster Bardon or Khan armory every three days for god knows how long and buying only 12.7 mm ammo.
