I just bought one of these off of ebay (I'm still kicking myself for not buying them all when they came out way back when). The seller said that the batteries leaked and that he tried to clean it up but he wasn't sure if it still worked. It didn't work at first until I cleaned, scraped, and buffed the terminals and now it works just fine. Now mine is going back in the box (without batteries) until I find a place to display it.
If you want some nice display stands, there's some great ones on Etsy, but a nice temporary that works is a clear shot glass, it will balance nicely. Amazing that nearly 30 years, and I never noticed that's Gul Madred from chain of command, on the advertisement. Fun trivia in the cross section of the ship you see it actually has a Romulan Bird of Prey as an auxiliary craft inside, that's how big it is.
The Romulan warbird started out as a Klingon design according to the blueprints and info that came with my 1990s models of it. A deal was struck for cloaking technology between both races. But it's easy how canon is rewritten on the fly by anyone creating any new 'prequels' to the Star Trek series now.😉
@@KeithandMike Lol! You've got that right. I swear it was in the write up with my Warbird model kit. Slightly larger scale than the electronic one. I think the kit might have been by Revell? Long time ago now. STTNG was new out, and I was just getting the new playmates Enterprise D, and new hand phaser for Christmas. I was about 14 and a Star Trek nut. Nice to see you unboxing this stuff. Brings back memories.😉😁
I remember getting a Klingon Vor'cha class ship and 2 versions of the Enterpise D when I was a kid. One normal and then one from the Generations Movie with a ton of battle damage on it.
I ended up hanging it vertically? But JD had a great idea to use a shot glass as a stand. That worked pretty well too. There are also stands you can get on Etsy.
Thanks for the reply. The shot glass thing sounds interesting, but at the moment I can't imagine how I should use the shot glass as a stand. I should see that in a picture.
I did a amature you tube video I did a few on lock down I tryed my best as I've got a stutter and hate the sound of my own voice I did all my playmates collection on a table I did the Romulan war Bird and I did my art asylum figures too and my playmate star DS9 station with the litte enterprise on top docked on the station
I had one of these when I was a little boy. I found and bought another one on ebay yesterday. :) I am so excited.

Mmmmmmm, smells like the 90s... lol
Great unboxing!
Looks like it's a close match in scale to model kit version of this ship .
I hope Playmates releases a Romulan Warbird, and a Klingon attack cruiser, and Enterprise D bridge playset.

Haha yeah, trek canon has always been… lets say… conveniently pliable. Haha

would the strike force Enterprise D scale well with this toy?
I’ve had zero luck with NIB ships and battery damage. 😢

Too bad it's so small. Size would have to be doubled :D
Yeah, that would be awesome to get all the ships in scale!
how were you able to solve the problem with the stand? I also have this Warbird and am urgently looking for a stand. greetings from Germany

I do it here... from JD Make's idea.

The neck is too long. That's why I never liked the Playmates Warbird.
