It works so well because it has that Shakespearian conflict between two brothers for the affection of their father. And it has space Vikings. Star Wars and LOTR combined in one.
ALone, out of all the Avengers movies, Thor is special. The other have made me laugh, made me cheer, but only Thor has made me cry. Most of the Avengers movies have been about men, coming into glory. Thor, is about a God, learning what it is to be a man and in doing, learning what it is to truly be worthy of his godhood.
+weldonwin Exactly. It's the story of the condescension of god. Descending from the realms on high, making the ultimate sacrifice, and then regaining the power and the high realm--and in so doing saving everyone else. Sound familiar?
How things change once you lose someone.....Thor found a new meaning in life after learning that his father passed away and the things he wanted to learn from to be not a perfect king but a wisely person over his people. Then he learned from Jane and show love and respect to his father once he returned to Asgard, at the end Chris is so great when showing his emotions one way or another..... so lovely movie.
Thank you, my grandma and grandpa took me to see thor, we lost my grandma earlier this year, this make me cry and I think of her when I hear this now. It has taken me 11 years to finally cosplay thor.
Amen... I could watch forever....It's so sad, that Natalie didn't want to play Jane again...It breaks my heart, they are my most favourite couple from Marvel♥
Kevin Carlock For me, Thor is my absolutely favourite one...This film just took my heart, I can't explain why, but it has the charm that always get me...I will always love to watch this movie again and again Besides, I'm a woman, so Chris is also a reason why to watch this :D
We used to explain just about everything to magic. Sunrise, storms, crops, metalworking... As time went on, we understood them better. How they worked, how to improve them. The magic was pushed away for science. But that's wrong, really. You can know for a fact that the stars are just distant balls of nuclear fusion, emitting a stream of photons that travels through nothingness to trigger a response in our retinas. But that doesn't make the night sky look any less wonderful. You can know that clouds are just clusters of water vapor shaped by air currents, but they still look fluffy, and they're still shaped like bunnies or sheep sometimes. You can have degrees in geology, biology, botany, all that jazz. But that doesn't make a view of a forested valley landscape seen from a high cliff any less beautiful. Just because there's science now, that doesn't mean there's any less magic.
Perfectly said. I'd like to add that understanding magic which we call science, paves the way for further and more fascinating "magic" to be discovered. It is magic ever-improving, and ever rejuvenating.
Thor is my favorite Avengers movie and when people ask me why, the biggest reason is the soundtrack. The amount of emotion Patrick Doyle produces with each track is overwhelming at times and truly left its mark on me.
Man... I anticipated the return of Thor's theme for Thor Love & Thunder so much . I wished I could've heard it again since Thor Ragnarok brought it back over the end of the movie. I think that Patrick Doyle's "Science and Magic" soundtrack would have perfectly fit the relationship between Thor and Jane.
Ironman was my favourite phase 1 mcu film but the more times I watched Thor I simply had a change of heart and this ended up being my favourite marvel phase 1 film
Thor is the all-time greatest comic book character ever introduced. Thought of as being a artistic third person relief character to the Avengers (first person character) he originally was written in equal to DCs Supermans character. This trivial character hold all of comics together.
Absolutely love this scene. Wish they would of kept moving forward with Jane in Thors movies. Really enjoy their dynamics. This movie is by far one of the best MCU movies.
One reason may be that Kenneth Branagh wasn't returning to direct, and they've worked together a lot. Still, the sequel would have been that much better with Doyle's music...
Both soundtracks are good. In Thor 2 "Into Eternity" for example is amazing (at least in my opinion), but the first one includes many good pieces as well
I honestly don't get the whole Loki + Jane thing - they barely have any interaction at all! I could see a story/fanfiction in which Loki tries to steels Thor's woman to attempt to make him jealous or something, only to have them accidentally fall in love. But seems a bit far-fetched to me seeing how connected she is with Thor.
Fiquei me perguntando pq gosto tanto do Loki ... acompanhei a série tão fielmente... acho que é o Tom ... Em Thor não... o ator é incrível, mas o personagem é simplesmente sem palavras.
How does science and magic bond together? How is connecting physics and mathematics with mysticism, fairies and hobgoblins possible? How does Walt Disney World mix science and magic together? I’m just extremely intrigued.
this soudtrack is very complete and relaxing. When i feel it coming inside my head I imagine the infinite and the complexity of the Universe, I feel that its secrets are very deep but I believe there's always a chance
In this world there are two ways one is for simple but on that way we not cry but we loose hope and the other on is full of difficulties and may be this made us cry but in this case we not loose our hope and thor choose this one
I loved the first Thor, so well written and good story, and the music only adds to it! Better than the sequel, and even that one I still like very much.
You must be partially deaf. The Mark 2 suitup theme is one of the best soundtrack in the history of mankind. The first flight scene theme is classic as well.
I miss Jane Foster so much. If she lived with Thor after Infinity War or if she didn't dumped Thor, maybe Thor would still be muscular because Jane will be there for Thor during his depressed days.
Thor is a really underrated movie. It's one of my favourites.
edgelord Underrated movies are the best 🤙🏼
Logan always no.1 in my superhero movie list
It works so well because it has that Shakespearian conflict between two brothers for the affection of their father. And it has space Vikings. Star Wars and LOTR combined in one.
It also has one of the best scores in the MCU. Very regal and mystical.
😍 yess

Thor, is about a God, learning what it is to be a man and in doing, learning what it is to truly be worthy of his godhood.
Such a good observation. I think the later appearances of Thor are diminished because of the lack of focus on the humility he gain in the first film.
weldonwin Not really all marvel...First Avenger learn that even in weak body can hide great heart and spirt;)
Awesome comment!
Nice comment. Nearly poethic
+weldonwin Exactly. It's the story of the condescension of god. Descending from the realms on high, making the ultimate sacrifice, and then regaining the power and the high realm--and in so doing saving everyone else. Sound familiar?
"This is Alfheim, Vanaheim, Jotunheim and Asgard, and that's where I come from."
11 years and I still miss it
As a science student and a lover of fantasy novels, I loved this scene!
Well I'm not a science student or I don't love novels like how you do, but I too, love this scene.

This piece of music is still my favourite thing from the entire MCU
@Joseph Wilson Avengers, Civil War, Endgame, Winter Soldier, Incredible Hulk, Infinity War all got good soundtracks tf
One of the most romantic scenes of any movie . . . I could watch it over and over and over again

What a scene, the best, i’m crying
I love the way Jane looks at Thor....so lovely and how he speaks to her.

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” - Arthur C. Clarke.
"Thank you Jane"
-Thor: Prince of Asgard
I literally flipped my lid when this theme played at the end of Ragnarok
It bums me out they only really used this for the first film, and then like 10 seconds in Ragnarok. I wish they'd use it a lot more.
@@Dreaklock I agree. I think Patrick Doyle's themes should've been used a lot more in the dark world.
Yes yes yes, everything about this is yes. My absolute favorite off the soundtrack.
Ironman was my favourite phase 1 mcu film but the more times I watched Thor I simply had a change of heart and this ended up being my favourite marvel phase 1 film
this soundtrack is my favourite piece of music ever. i watched thor a year ago and still come back to 'science and magic' every day. the best.
same here.......(only difference is, i m from another country....
Wonderful UNDERRATED soundtrack!
😣 can't stop crying
very beautiful soundtrack. this film wouldn't be the same without it, it's a shame patrick doyle is not coming back
Agreed The Boulder. The soundtrack for the first Thor movie is heads and shoulders above any other Marvel Studios film has produced.
Although I loved the retro-80s synth for Ragnarok, I missed Doyle's soaring fanfares and intimate moments.

I just love this movie. It's tender and motivating. Although it wasn't the best Thor the narrative was pretty cool.
From the director and composer of Henry V. Thor is what you get when you hire experienced directors and composers.
This soundtrack is beautiful ♥
The best original scores of all mcu movies

the best ost in this movie. Love this scene too!
The melody in this is stunning.
Beautiful
"I come from a place where they're one in the same"
OMG THE FEEEEEEEEEELLLLSSSS THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!!
I love this track
One of my favorite soundtracks from this movie.
A god who has nothing. No mother no father. Lost his friend lost his girlfriend. But still smiles.
1:31-2:07 is AWESOME! My fav marvel song so far!
This is prob the most underrated Marvel movie yet. Best score in Thor series. Should have been in Thor 4😢
Also very motivating and calming.
"Well, what more can I lose" after Thor talks to rocket, and now I'm hear listening to this track tearing up like a bitch 😢
😭
What was Marvel thinking when they dropped Patrick Doyle and hired Brian Tyler for the sequel ? All of Brian Tyler's soundtracks sound the same.
One reason may be that Kenneth Branagh wasn't returning to direct, and they've worked together a lot. Still, the sequel would have been that much better with Doyle's music...
Christine Mintert
i really liked the second 2 also. But i think it would of been better with kenneth branagh directing and patrick doyle for music.
Doyle's Thor theme returns for Ragnarok
It did? Which track? I only heard a lot of synth and completely new themes. Really missed the Thor fanfare from this first movie.
Both soundtracks are good. In Thor 2 "Into Eternity" for example is amazing (at least in my opinion), but the first one includes many good pieces as well
