No. I think (and Tom Hiddleston said it too) that Odin loves Loki (even very much) but he doesn't know how to connect with him. As a child, Loki was ambitious but more sensible and maybe shy... Loki had this more artistic relationship with Frigga and learns magic with her. And Thor was more like Odin : they are warriors. Loki doesn't fit the mold as an Asgardian and Odin is very much Asgardian so he doesn't know how to talk or act with his second son... When Loki let go and falls, Odin still don't know how to express his feelings but we clearly see that he have tears in eyes and feel helpless while he sees his son's death. In Thor 2, he takes on airs, saying that he considers Loki as dead or will have him dead if Frigga had not beg for him but Frigga just give him an excuse to keep Loki alive 'cause if Odin really wanted to takes Loki's life he would have done it... He just tried to hide how much he is vulnerable when it comes to his son especially when he is supposed to know everything. The ending of Thor shows that Odin questioned himself about his fatherhood and is sad about Loki's fate and blame himself... And when Odin said "No" to Loki, he was in fact saying "You didn't need to do that to make me proud of you. You're my son and part of our family, I've learn to love you and I love you as you are even if you're/we're different". So I think their relationship is made of incomprehension and is complex... PS : sorry for my english but I'm french. LOL !
Claire Mallet O______. Well, this is brand new to me... but I did know that there was incomprehension- to the core! I've been thru it myself, & am a lot like Loki. See, in Loki's eyes, when Odin said "no Loki", Loki took it as "I'm a failure & might as well just die!" attitude, letting go of the staff to fall in what looks like a black hole just to wind up on earth... Loki feels he's done everything he could to make Odin proud, but of course, not in a constructive manner. So, when I saw that "no Loki" part, I always thought Odin was being a prick! I know Odin cared in some form or else he'd not save Loki!! But to have Loki actually killed? What asshole father does that- adoptive or not?! And putting Loki in a prison was bound to only further set Loki as b.c it's solitary confinement!! He needed love just like everyone does, but more from Frigga- or the likes of her- anyone who comprehends Loki- just like Odin to Thor!!! And Frigga did try. Loki pushed her off in fear b.c the poor guy can't trust anyone anymore... he WANTS to trust Frigga- but just fully can't. And I bet if Loki hadn't made the mistake of telling that creature to take the stairs to the L, in Thor TDW, she'd have come back to visit Loki... & overtime, Loki may have just come to his senses.... -.- *Talk about one seriously dysfunctional family, eh?! >___>
Shay Mary (Loky) I understand what you're trying to said. Honestly, I don't think Odin would have killed Loki because if he really wanted to, he would have done it even if Frigga or Thor had beg for him. He was rude with Loki but as a lost child he needs that, just like he needs a soft side like Frigga. And also, Loki needs to understand that what he did - on Earth - was wrong. Odin confined Loki because he had no other choices, we sometimes forget as a fan that Odin is bound by his crown (it is why in Thor he banished his son for his actions). As for the rest, Odin is not a fool : I think he perfectly knows that Frigga would come to their son and maybe makes him realize his mistakes and then understand some of his father's too... To finish, I think Odin knows his sons too well. Like he knew that banish Thor on Earth would teach him lessons, he knew that confine Loki would help him and give him some time to reflection. Even in the myth, Odin is known to be wise. In the end, Loki and Odin just need to forget their pride and talk about them...

I know. But remember the scene in Avengers: "Did you mourn?" "We all did" This looks like a lie now. If they want to celebrate his dead because of his actions then they can do it. But it will not chance my opinion that it is tasteless to celebrate a suicide. But like I said, I am sure that in the first movie it was not a party because they were happy about his dead but only a way to celebrate his life. But after the second movie it looks so different now.
I think the whole party thing was not because Loki died, but because Thor had saved Jotunheim and Midgard(Earth). It still seems kinda selfish that Thor is the only one who mourns for Loki.

6Kubik VERBATIM! Thank you! I mean, for fuq's sake!!!! All b.c he's a frost giant, he has a PARTY thrown afterward? Comes off as a prejudice undertone right there.... Also, when Odin says "no Loki" & not elaborate (ESP. whilst Loki hang on for his dear life!!), is just as low IQ as they come! Odin should know damned better that frost giants are INTELLECT. You do NOT frigging just say "no" & not elaborate & give an optimistic/hopeful approach at the end of it- like Frigga would! See, ppl like Odin, I've met several. We've had our quarrels... some I never see anymore, very few I still know (esp. whilst some of them exist in my fam.). I am Loki as Loki is I! I AM the black sheep! I hated it for a while... & now I like it! If Loki can only come to terms of not being so perceptive of others & find his true ID, he'd most likely be one happy ass ice man! :P
I loved this scene to pieces. It was the culmination of Loki's inferiority complex. "Well, if I can't be as great as Thor in my father's eyes, I may as well let got and die." Such a tragedy.
I honestly feel that Loki was the best character. Because even though he learns his life is a lie, he still tries to make his father proud. He stil tries to do his best. Even though what he did was wrong. Loki is amazing
Whenever i listen this music I don't know why i always cry as a baby i think this music can be related with those good old days....time passes buddy but this music never get's old...♥♥...so long I always miss those days....oh god thank you so much for giving me this life..thank you....
Despite seeing this movie several times, I manage to convinve myself EVERY. DAMN. TIME. That Loki will get pulled up and everyone will have a nice group hug. ....then 0:40 happens, and I end up with feelings.
The beginning is similar to the music playing when Odin tells Loki about his true heritage (the flashback with the baby). So, first time you hear it he saves his life ; second time, he abandons him... Just like his real father. Well done, it's heartbreaking. Poor Loki ;-;
Out of the three trilogies in the MCU (Thor, Captain America and Iron Man), I've only really listened and thoroughly enjoyed the soundtrack from Thor. Thor just has such a different feeling from the other two. LITERALLY out of this world.
When I watch the movie I always like to listen to the movie when the sky is all clear and Natalie Portman sadly says, "It's gone." I listen to that all the way to the end. I love it.
You know you've watched this scene too many times when the music reaches the point where Loki's about to let go, and you instinctively find yourself saying "No, no, no!"
I FINALLY FOUND THIS AMAZING SHIT!!!! i fell in love with this tune when i first heard it on thor. searched for YEARS trying to find it. could never find it. then this AMAZING person on youtube FINALLY told me.
Every time I watch this part of the movie, or listen to this track, I say I'm not gonna cry. But I always do. For Loki, and the fact that Odin said something different, things probably would have turned out all right.
Odin: My adopted, undervalued son who suffer mental breakdown is hanging over the deadly, space abyss... Let's tell him that he is still not worthy my love. What bad can happen?
Um, maybe have that discussion when your mentally unstable son isn't hanging over the abyss? Also, kind of hypocritical of a man like Odin who literally enslaved the nine realms in his original quest for power and raised his sons to believe that the Jotnar were less than human. But whatever.
I'm so exited for Thor 2 I could scream. I can see both sides of their stories and you just want the two brothers to get along, but at the same time you know if they did that a lot of the intense emotion created by the fact the the brothers are fighting would be lost.
this was my movie of the year for 2011. saw it 3 times in the theaters lol. the music, the humor, the creativity of asgard just blew my mind! too bad he didnt get the girl in the end =-(
I really love the piano part. Even though it's simple, I can feel the emotions, feelings and passion and it fits well with the scene. I personally prefer simple slow musics like this rather than orchestras because I can concentrate well at the song, too many instruments overwhelms me so much that I couldn't feel the passion. You don't need 90 instruments to create a masterpiece in my ears
My heart breaks every time starts from 0:31 ODIN!! Your poorest choice of words made your son attempted SUICIDE in front of you! I cannot bear this imbecility from the god of wisdom! I can't I just * flips lecture notes that I'm supposed to be studying *
Levon Gevorgyan A species they were fighting against for what, hundreds of years? I think he made that decision because he thought it was the best way to keep peace.
The peace was a fragile one as it was based on the casket being stolen from Jotuns and held in Asgard but no one could believe that they'd ever give up on it. So I think Jotuns were a constant problem. Loki came up with solution. Looking back at Odin's past and Asgard's love for war (as long as it takes place far from their land) I'm not surprised that his solution was so volatile. As for me it looks like one of many possible reasons why Loki did it , as he is very complicated person :).
Such a beautiful song. I really like soundtrack songs that have small background parts with a slow, moving piano melody. Thor has the best soundtrack of the Marvel movies!
This soundtrack is so beautiful. And this scene aaarggg... The look on Thor's face when Loki let's go. Though they make the ending focus on his "loss" over Jane more which is kinda eeh. Though "Avengers" do clearly show how much Thor loves his brother. Ahhh these guys are gonna be the death of me!
+Loki Odinson i know loki *hugs* don't listen to that mean old odin. *mutters* he was a jackass for saying that shit when you where hanging off a bridge anyway (and don't even get me STARTED on the not telling about adoption shit) *hugs loki again*
Yeah, Loki, you could've. But what would happen then? Committing mass genocide wouldn't gain you your father's acceptance. You would only be a criminal and a murderer. You were being too rash. Loki, I get it. You're in pain. But this... this isn't right. Listen to Thor. Just sit, and listen. I promise you, if you do things the right way, Odin WILL accept you. I know he loves you. Anyway, if I could reach through walls of reality, that's what I'd probably say to him.
Gah, I've almost cried several times at this part.... Because I know what it's like to try and make my father proud....and fail. :( Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't let go of a stick on the edge of a universe because he said "No" but I can just relate to his character in thay way.
He just wanted to be Thor's equal. He felt like he was seen under a less brilliant and radiant light than Thor, and finding about his heritage like he did solidified that thought. It blinded him to his family's love.
Thor 1 had the best soundtrack from all the Thor movies in my opinion, so calm, so beautiful
I loved Thor's first film. It was well directed and the music caught me off guard. Very enjoyable.
I like the Dark World soundtrack best, but this one's good too.

This looks like a lie now.
LOL !
*Listening to playlist*
Wait... this sounds like that part in the movie where my heart broke into a million pieces...
*Checks song title*
*Cries*
0:40
The beginning is similar to the music playing when Odin tells Loki about his true heritage (the flashback with the baby). So, first time you hear it he saves his life ; second time, he abandons him... Just like his real father. Well done, it's heartbreaking. Poor Loki ;-;
Poor Loki. I love his character so much, even though he turned a little crazy in the Avengers Movie.
Out of the three trilogies in the MCU (Thor, Captain America and Iron Man), I've only really listened and thoroughly enjoyed the soundtrack from Thor. Thor just has such a different feeling from the other two. LITERALLY out of this world.
Who can't not fall in love with Loki? He's loveable
For you, for all of us
Fiercely blinking the tears from my eyes, this and a very sad story combined... Ah, it kills me with its beauty.
I FINALLY FOUND THIS AMAZING SHIT!!!! i fell in love with this tune when i first heard it on thor. searched for YEARS trying to find it. could never find it. then this AMAZING person on youtube FINALLY told me.
catherine roberts same here
you could just searched for thor soundtrack...
This song just makes me want to cry.. I'm glad he didn't die.
Every time I watch this part of the movie, or listen to this track, I say I'm not gonna cry.
But I always do. For Loki, and the fact that Odin said something different, things probably would have turned out all right.
Best song of the soundtrack for me, such a heartfelt moment! :')
Just re watched this film I absolutely love this score and the directing from Kenneth Brannagh is top notch in some scenes the film is pure art
0:59 thats the most beautiful piano i have ever heard^^
Odin: My adopted, undervalued son who suffer mental breakdown is hanging over the deadly, space abyss... Let's tell him that he is still not worthy my love. What bad can happen?
HE said that Loki was not forcing his own species for him, he was doing it for Loki.
Pokemonka Now, THAT's a low IQ being right there, folks! -.-
You mean telling him that genocide was wrong ?
Um, maybe have that discussion when your mentally unstable son isn't hanging over the abyss? Also, kind of hypocritical of a man like Odin who literally enslaved the nine realms in his original quest for power and raised his sons to believe that the Jotnar were less than human. But whatever.
Cade Grimm he did it to bring peace . With Odin dead now look how’s rising oh yea THANOS
I love this, it's like you can feel all the emotions through the music.
Love the piano bit at 1:00 makes me happy and sad at the same time bittersweet I guess
Same
I love this soundtrack. I picture Thor talking to Odin telling him how he would never be as great of a king as his father.
During the piano part I see Thor holding Loki's body in Infinity War remembering the good times they had and it makes me want to cry 🥲
The best way for this to make me cry is to also watch the scene in the movie, which is totally awesome. I'm gonna watch it tonight.
Should be called 'Loki's Lament'
I remember hearing this for the first time in theaters and thinking "Holy cow, this scene makes the movie!!"
*_"I COULD'VE DONE IT FATHER! FOR YOU, FOR ALL OF US!"_*
No, Loki
I'm so exited for Thor 2 I could scream. I can see both sides of their stories and you just want the two brothers to get along, but at the same time you know if they did that a lot of the intense emotion created by the fact the the brothers are fighting would be lost.
this was my movie of the year for 2011. saw it 3 times in the theaters lol. the music, the humor, the creativity of asgard just blew my mind! too bad he didnt get the girl in the end =-(
Same thing happened in "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011), he didn't get the girl in the end.
Yo no la vi ni capitan América el primer vengador en 2 años no fui al cine o sea 2010-2011
Amazing. There should be more music like this.
Anyone here after Infinity War?
I don't want to believe! :(
Did anyone else HATE the opening scene of Infinity War?!
Me
Yep, listening to the soundtracks of all Loki's deaths
I'm here after Endgame, and I am very sad :(
Спасибо за музыку! Очень вдохновляет и мотивирует
So deep that no one could even try to understand those 'deeper meanings'.
Exactly. Patrick Doyle hits the notes that make you want to cry even more.
Loki is too cute, with that puppy dog face, and Thor was rly nice
Thor still loved his brother even after all the things Loki did...that's a very strong bond :')
0:59 : *piano theme
Me: *starts bawling
I like when the sun rises on Asgard 🌅
"I ensure you, brother. The sun will shine on us again." -Loki, 2018
Beautiful characters in a beautiful movie. 😊
THE FEELS. I CAN'T.
My heart breaks every time starts from 0:31
ODIN!! Your poorest choice of words made your son attempted SUICIDE in front of you! I cannot bear this imbecility from the god of wisdom! I can't I just * flips lecture notes that I'm supposed to be studying *
Levon Gevorgyan
A species they were fighting against for what, hundreds of years? I think he made that decision because he thought it was the best way to keep peace.
Lilyanna08 They weren't fighting anymore until Loki let them into the treasure room. He didn't do it for peace, he did it for his father's approval.
Loki's "suicide" was all part of his larger scheme. He was in the second movie after all.
Lilyanna08 YES! FINALLY! Someone who gets it! :D >:P
A trilha sonora mais linda de todas! ❤
SIM! MEU DEUS UMA BR
Hola
For you ! For all of us!
I love Loki so freaking much! It's so hard for me to root for the Avengers sometimes because all I wanna do is give Loki a hug
T^T Oh, the Loki feelings!! Why am I about to cry?!!?
Como ase llorar esta canción. 😢
Such a beautiful song. I really like soundtrack songs that have small background parts with a slow, moving piano melody. Thor has the best soundtrack of the Marvel movies!
i loved this song and movie. Patrick Doyle is a great artist. :')
What a powerful piece of music my goodness! This would be a perfect finale for Thor character I guess. Love you Thor
No one else in the world could do better than this!
"For all of us"
Thor 2011
Loki 2023
This soundtrack is so beautiful. And this scene aaarggg... The look on Thor's face when Loki let's go. Though they make the ending focus on his "loss" over Jane more which is kinda eeh. Though "Avengers" do clearly show how much Thor loves his brother. Ahhh these guys are gonna be the death of me!
Simplesmente incrível.
This makes me cry...
One of my favourite movies. The soundtrack doesn't do it justice. I love this move and soundtrack!!
The sad thing about this song is knowing when Loki falls. His theme "Loki's Lie" plays. :(
I really could've done it...
No, Loki Odinson
Your ascendancy may yet be prevented
Anyway, if I could reach through walls of reality, that's what I'd probably say to him.
simply beautiful. and very true
I just rewatched the movie and this theme is so beautiful and sad but i love it 🥲
I just started to cry :')
Miss Loki, can't wait for the avengers♥
Gah, I've almost cried several times at this part....
Because I know what it's like to try and make my father proud....and fail. :(
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't let go of a stick on the edge of a universe because he said "No" but I can just relate to his character in thay way.
Reading the last few pages of “King Thor”, by Jason Aaron, to this music is one of the most emotional moments you will experience in your life.
He just wanted to be Thor's equal. He felt like he was seen under a less brilliant and radiant light than Thor, and finding about his heritage like he did solidified that thought. It blinded him to his family's love.
"Don't you dare let go. REACHHH!"
Oh wrong movie 😬
Pretty sure that's the Lord of the Rings
2020Surya S315 yup
Real late to this, but I will never stop loving LotR references ❤
They did...and brought him back as a kid with no memories of before, so now he is no longer Laufeyson, but Odinson, brother of Thor.
I really love this..it's so peaceful and relaxing ❤💖 just keep on doing the good job. .God bless you more to do even more Good things
