    Awesome review on the cymatic. I just bought one and looking for a fin setup for it. Maybe these H4s are the way to go🤙

      Thanks mate, another combination is the large Mick Fanning fins with a small or medium centre fin. The large 3 Fannings are good for larger or choppy waves.

    Hi Leigh, this is so far the best review I could find! Could you please tell me if the center fin feels stick or so? Not drag, but in thighs turns. It have so much area, even more than the FW large.
    I'm using reactors (side large and center medium), FW on large for those days bigger than 6 foot and the old green JW for those small funny days.
    I would love to just switch for one template. Thanks and please let me know your thoughts.

      Hi Ed, Sorry for the slow reply. I missed the notification. I like you was looking for a fin that does every wave. Since I did the review I have had some bigger waves and because I am not Kelly Slater had to detune the Cymatic by putting large MF fin in. Then I tried my SKX with the H4 in the same surf and they were great. These were 6 to 7 foot backhand solid waves which we don’t get often. In surfing you are always learning. You need a minimum of two boards and two fin set ups either to control or generate speed.

    Great review of this new fin of fcs. I heard it need a bit of a wave to come to its full potential. Do you agree? Or do you also feel a difference in small waves? Greetings from The Netherlands.

    • @leighwilson1524
      @leighwilson1524  4 года назад +4

      I hope the Netherlands Corona fight is going well. The fin is unusual because in a small wave you can generate speed but on a larger wave you can control your speed. Usually you need 2 different fins to do this. Most of my waves have been small so far, 1 to 6 feet. It can generate speed across a flat section but really comes alive when it get steep. stay safe. This was a great review Leigh,
    I have a quiver and in that i have a Lost Puddle jumper that i usually ride as a quad, also a 6'4" that i usually ride as a quad also, have you tried the H4's as a complete quad set? If I were to buy the whole set it would be a lot of $$$'s, so Im just weighing up getting a cheaper set or are these fins as good as they say they are?
    Thanks

      Thanks Wayne. I am currently riding a Dominator 2 with a H4 Quad set. I tried various Tri and Quad when I first got the Dominator 2 and after several weeks I found the H4 Quad the best set up. On bigger windier day the Quad was more in control but on small grovel day they still generate speed. If the Lost Puddle Jumper goes well as a Quad the H4s will fly. Let me know how you go.

      @@leighwilson1524 Great thanks Leigh for the prompt reply, that info is very helpful and something to think about, yeah it (the PJ) goes great as a quad, I have the original P5's in there and goes great with those, maybe time to experiment with something new!

      Hi Karl, Not at this stage a my Cymatic seems to be tougher than my past LFT constructed board and also no yellowing after nine months. I asked Noel Salis form Surf 'n' Show who have tested both the Cymatic and the 2.0 and said the Cymatic was is favourite Firewire board. I still would like to try a 2.0 because I loved my old Sci-Fi. The Cymatic is a very good allrounder. I did write to Firewire and asked if I could test a demo 2.0 but they did not return mob email.I would like to do a review on one but I cannot just buy a board for a RUclips review.

     @Leigh Wilson Hi, have you tried the H4 fronts on your Cymatic with Quad rears like the Medium Reactor PC Quad rears?

    • @leighwilson1524
      @leighwilson1524  3 года назад

      Hi finproductions, I have tried H4 front and FCS performer rears. The combination suits point breaks great. I find the tri set works better in poor beach breaks and unfortunately my local beach breaks have been very poor for a long time. My son has a Cymatic as well and uses the Reactor medium quad set with the Shapers nub and loves that combination.

    Need some advice. I have a Firewire seaside 5'10 w/39 liters fcs2 quad. and I'm only 5'7 @160lbs..I dig the volume and how fast I'm growing in skills with this thick wide board..BUT I heard that since it's so long and bulky w a wide nose it's better I get a large upright template set of fins to be able to pivot the board. I have the machado quads and the controler fins and they are fast..but I have slid out when the waves got little big and punchy..I couldn'tdig a big deep bottom turn with them that easy at all....can u sugest a set of quads w an uprighttmplate for the pivot that will also help hold the tail down when I need to do a deep bottom turn?thnx

      If you have medium size fins it may be worth a Large set. We are similar weight. If I bought a Seaside I would bought a 5'5" or 5'6". I do not know your surfing standard but I would have trouble too trying to keep the tail under control on head height waves. Small wave wide tail, large wave narrower tail. The board is rated 1 to 5 feet waves. Small waves, you want to generate speed, and larger waves you want to control speed. If you have had the Seaside for a while and have improved a lot on it, to keep the improvement going it may be time for a board with a narrower tail and more performance orientated. Keep the Seaside for fun small wave and another board for larger waves. I have a Cymatic up to over head and an SKX for bigger days.

      @@leighwilson1524 hey I apreciate your response..and even the key to tails size to match wave type. Yeah I'm looking for a board for the faster winter waves now for sure..head high to a couple over head..but with a pocket and kinda fast. I've heard that the Pyzel Ghost, or the Lost psycho killer type boards will be a good choice. But when I look at keeping the same volume as my seaside 39liters (maybe even add 1 liter for the bigger surf) ..the boards end up arpund 6'7" and I wonder if that defeats the design of the board cuz I need so much volume ... :/

      @@josephhatamiable I would lean towards the Lost because of the transition may be the easer of the two. Also check out the Firewie Dominator2. Check surf'n'show RUclips review. Also the large Mick Fanning fins are also a great choice on power waves

      I had the same problem with mi 5’8 seaside and fixed it putting the mark richards on the front and the machado quad rears in the back. It works great now in bigger surf letting me ride it more vertical. Also the reactor quads work very well.

      Hi Balt. Sorry I missed your comment. I have the H4 in only a few 6 foot waves but found them very confident in even bumping waves. If you would normally use a medium fin in a particular board/wave stick with the H4 medium. Cheers thanks for watching.
