Staying warm in winter is all about fabric choice and layering. As you mentioned merino wool is a good choice but silk, cashmere and technical fabrics also keep you warm while drawing moisture away from the body. You also mentioned layering but it’s important to note that several thin layers are better than one thick layer, especially in very cold temperatures. A woolly hat (beanie), gloves, a neck warmer, wool socks and waterproof boots are also essential.

The olive green sezane coat looks amazing on you! That’s really your color! You can put your mic on a tripod off camera so you don’t have to hold it. Or on the sofa arm.

I love your style so much!
As a muslim I like to dress modestly so it’s difficult for me to relate to a lot of the outfits I see online. This was right up my alley and I have so many ideas for potential outfits now. Thanks a lot, Helen! 💕

Be sure to check out a hiking or outdoor store for base layers! I’ve got two sets of SmartWool tops and leggings that still look new after 14 years of heavy use, both on trail and in town. Perfect for lounging and sleepwear, and yet warm and thin so they fit under more fitted technical or street clothes. I use Nikwax wool wash, never use softener and hang dry. Real wool base layers breathe without feeling sweaty, resist odors and wear like iron if you take care of them!
Absolutely love that color wheel and philosophy of adding muted colors, then bold. I love color, but my base is definitely black or chocolate and it’s easy to be boring. Lol

I have an Icebreaker merino tee that I wear for running. The quality is very good because it still looks brand new despite many, many washings. It's so true all Merion tops ate not equal because I have others that now have small holes in them.

I love nylon bags. I have two cross body nylon bags for many years. They are so practical, the right size, extremely light, with lots of pockets. I throw them into the wash machine every once in a while, they come out like new! I carry leather purses for work and formal occasions. But as soon as I get off work, it is all nylon bags. I am glad you and your mom loves that too.

I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful winter outfits. :) Being 8 months pregnant and having -12 degree celsius weather I am quite limited to what I can wear at the moment. Luckily my thin merino wool sweaters still fit and I wear them under everything. I can't wait to play around with my clothes a bit more. For now I am switching it up with different hats and scarfs.

Thanks for your video. I wear silk long johns under pants and skirts in winter. Easy to get on & off, thin enough to avoid bulk and does not make me overheat indoors, like tights do. Not too sexy but when it’s cold, I don’t care.

Such a thorough video with great tips. Have a wonderful, cold, holiday trip.
I’ve recently found some thin, wool/lyocell blend long sleeve T-shirts for use as base layer. My skin is quite sensitive to 100% merino wool. Also, the thin, body hugging turtlenecks are awesome for a base layer if it works with the look.

Great Vlog Helen!! I love all your tips. I was drawn especially to the sweatshirt one. Ive got a ribbed, sleeveless dress from cos but i want to get more use out of it. Ive got a cropped pale blue sweatshirt that I can put with it. I will give it a try in Spring, its never that warm here in the UK 😂 Winter tips, layers, natural fibres and extremities need warmth, wool socks, hat/ ear muffs and wool socks and always a scarf to add warmth and interest. Love your little red one!! Also love the long scarf you have with the unequal length it really adds something extra to a look. I might borrow your idea!! 😘😘
