Great video and awesome talent. I decided to upgrade to the GM-800 but I am having trouble with the tracking for my Godin Multiac and xTSA guitars. Have you looked into the GM-800? I was wondering if you have upgraded from your GR-20? The settings are less complicated than my GR-55, but this may be the reason. The GM-800 has a lot of promise, but right now, I can't get it to track very well. Any thoughts? I have set this to respond to Piezo R (RMC mode). This GM-800 als supports LR Baggs Piezos.
Good to know. Keep it up Andres.
Andres, talk to Paul at Go Acoustic Audio. They make a great system to replace the LR Baggs. Paul can tell you if it’s comparable with your older Roland synth. The natural guitar sound is also much improved. I just installed one in my Godin Multiac.
If the newer Godin works with the Boss GP-10, you could do MIDI Out to a refurb iPhone running a ROMpler app. e.g. You can probably get a really good sax sample set to use with the AudioLayer app. The SWAM saxophone apps would be an option too. Far from an ideal solution, but it might keep the footprint small enough. I’m also wondering if you could find someone who might build you a 13-pin boost pedal that could maybe get the signal strong enough for the GR-20. (It’d be effectively six boost pedals in one box.)
Hello @Andreas Colin. First of all, very nice playing and whole entertainment. I have a Godin Mutliac SA, and cant seem to solve some buzzing/rattling sound on a G string, 2nd/3rd fret. Neck is ok, changed few different types of strings, and still have that.. Someone mentiones it could be pickup, but then it would buzz all around the neck 🤔 Did you had any similar problems with your Godins? Cheers, and thank you for the answer in advance. Alex
Interesting... but it seems the RMC system has lasted you fifteen years and it still works perfectly :P Have you tried the computer software called "MIDI Guitar 3" by any chance?
Hello Andres, any update on your compatibility issues? Did you find a solution? Thanks my friend!
I ran into the same problem with my gr20 . Fortunately the guitar center had a used gr 55 that I could try and there it was . It worked very nice although I haven’t gotten a gr55 yet . Soon and very soon I will .
Recently i start to use boss gp-10 via godin lgxt. I have no problem to use vst.
Any advice? Tnx😊
I use both GR20 and 55 as well. I wasnt aware of this non compatibility of new guitars :( GR55 is cool but is much bigger and is a gaz turbine in terms of tweeking compared to the GR20. Thanks to have shared
Would it be possible to put the RMC electronics in the newer guitar?
Are there any device that we can put between the godin guitar and gr20 that will boost the signal?
Hello! Wonderful information! I’m wondering if anybody has some information that can help me… I’ve been doing solo and duo gigs for the past 15 years using various acoustic guitars and the GR 20, like you use, along with the pick up that comes with that however, the tracking is terrible when I try to use the saxophone or Marimba’s There’s tons of glitches. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is an acoustic guitar… Not an nylon string but a regular acoustic guitar… that has a midi pick up installed already or if anyone has some information as to why the sounds keep glitching. I would be very appreciative… Thank you so very much everyone. KEEP PLAYING❤️🎶🎸🎉🙏🏼
Oh no! My friend, I just bought a Godin like yours with LR baggs and my Roland gr20 is coming in 3 days. What are we gonna do now? haha. I am a fan my friend. I admire your playing, heart of music, kindness and humor. What do you think of those newer BOSS 13 pin pedals? The BOSS GM 800?
so what happened when your GR20 arrived? same problem?
@@matigrob It didn't work either. I had to replace it with GM800 instead. Works great.
I´m using GR-55 and SY-300. Everything is there, but I still hope to get the new one.
Shame Gr20 no longer compatible. The GR 55 is very expensive and does way more than you would ever want from it. More complicated to use as well
Good luck with getting Rolands ear. I have been asking for 30 years they stop using 2nd rate synth engines in their midi guitar platforms and give the guitarist the respect they deserve. The same as the keyboard players. Instead of taking my advice, they come out with a SY1000 model with that are completely unusable and lower quality.... unless you are playing in a clown show. Roland will you finally listen? How about using a Roland Integra 7 platform and couple it to a floor guitar synth? Please do it right next time.
Yes roland Made a small synthetiser BOSS gm800 is better than gr20 gr33 o gr55 .send the old pedal to the trackcan
If you still have your red guitar it didn’t sound in tune you have to turn it remember I said that because it sounds way out of tune but the other ones are good they are in tune
Roland (BOSS) is WAY OVERDUE to bring out a new replacement for the GR-55. That synth is already over 15 years old! It's ANCIENT. And I think it's no longer in production, so the only way to purchase it is used.
We need a new Synth Please!
A new synth would be able to track faster - the biggest flaw in the GR-55. It can be smaller, as Andreas has requested. And it could include a much better, multi-track looper. There's a market, dammit! Note that Godin is STILL making Multiac guitars, as noted in this video.
Software sucks
Oh, and please ask that they do a better job on the software - Roland's weak spot. The GR-55 does a lot but making it do that is a whole skillset in itself, and its software, if you want to mess with it, is Byzantine. Andreas is a genius with the Godin Grand Concert SA Guitar, but he's had to invest WAY too many brain cells in fiddling with the synth. It should just work, get out of the way.
PLEASE push Roland to get off their asses & sell a replacement for the GR-55
And tell them to make sure it works with their older Godin Grand Concert SA Guitars: as you have found, they rock! And that kind of investment you don't just dump & replace. Keep the cable combinations, use the individual pickups but give us a new GR-55 replacement, PLEASE.
Godin's SA guitars are amazing, a perfect pairing with Roland's synths.
But that means Roland needs to make the dang things!
They should honour their own market - they sold a lot of GR-55s - and honour Godin's continued commitment to Roland's GR-55.
Does the Boss GM 800 works as replacements?
