This is the greatest film on you tube, it really shows how important these rigs were to the men that owned them before quads and side by sides. If you owed a 4x4 you always got invited on the hunting trip;)
Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed. I recreated my grandfather's Willys pickup in this video and posted a video on my channel of the restoration process. A way for me to get a feel for what I missed not growing up in this era
My dad had a 1952 Willys pickup. He and his hunting friends would head out to Utah and hunt each season. On many of those hunts his Willys was the only vehicle that could move in camp because of the mud or snow. He usually came home with a new dent, scar or mirror missing as a reminder of the hunt. Chaining up was part of the deal but the old Willys never failed. It had a top highway speed of 50 mph.....down hill but when up in the hills, just as in the video it eared it's keep. Unfortunatley I rolled his old truck when I was 15 being a dumb kid. We went right out and found another one, a 1957 that I got to pay for and fix up. I drove that truck until I graduated college and had enough money to aford a new jeep. It is in the garage at this date along with another jeep I purchased some years back to hopefully pass along to my two kids some day. I plan to find and restore another willys truck some if I live long enough. Great video. Thank you,
Great video. My friends and I all wore those hats in high school. I haven't seen one in years. Still wear the suspenders, wool and hickory shirts. Love old jeeps. Hope to find a pickup I can afford someday.
I remember my dad telling me stories about when they went hunting in the Bighorn mountains in Wyoming there was a place off the highway where the jeeps would have to winch down into and then they could go on the 2 track goat trail because it was to steep my dad had willys wagons and old scouts and travelalls
Thats JUST the type of old Willys truck footage id love to see more of. Wow
Thanks! I watch it over and over. It always makes me smile for some reason.

Reminds me of dad in his ole International, if there wasn't a road then just make one. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

That's how it's done in a WILLYS! Love it, thank you for sharing.
"Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads"...Dr Emmett Brown, Back to the Future. But these guys said it first. .
Great video, thanks. Proud to be from the great state of Washington, and proud to be an American. Gotta enjoy these types of days before they're gone.

America has really gone downhill in 2020. Very sad.
@@jdjeep46 started happening WAY before 2020.
Erik Knudsen agree, things were way different when I was a kid in the 60s and 70s.
