  • Here's a longtime favorite entry from the Educational Pictures era of silent Felix the Cat cartoons!
What's being shown here, as a sample for our subscribers, is the most commonly circulating version of this short-Official Films' early 1950s reissue version, prepared for television, which sports a new (crude!) music track.

For some 20 years, the Cartoons On Film team has been locating and reuniting rare 16mm and 35mm prints of the early Felix cartoons, and we've also been collecting hi res scans of prints in other collections. Cartoons On Film's long term plan has always been to restore and rerelease most of the surviving original Felix cartoons, from 1919 through 1930-which comprise well over a hundred titles. More information about our initial home video release of newly restored, early silent Felix cartoons can be found at the link below:

We look forward to releasing follow-up collections with new Felix restorations in the near future.

Felix runs through a door and leaves a cat-shape hole. An early example of a cartoon perrenial.

Just turning off the sound, running it at 1/4 speed, and watching Felix closely is an animation education.

I like the added soundtracks on these, didn't know that Official Films were the ones responsible for them. Crude as they are, they fit the whimsical nature of Felix cartoons perfectly to me.

The scientist almost looks like a predecessor of Poindexter.

I've removed my upload of that unnatural history cartoon so can you please remove my strike. I will never do it again. Also can you please upload some of your rare cartoons (Down on the Phony Farm for instance) and unprivatize some of the rare cartoons on your channel so instances like this won't happen again.

I know it was a different era technology-wise, but "crude" is being generous in describing the soundtrack! I used to make better soundtracks for my 8mm films using a Webcor portable tape recorder. It's hard to fathom that the "professionals" at Official Films couldn't have come up with something a little better. They must've had absolutely no time or budget!💩🤎💩
