I've been near-sighted since high school and wear contacts. When I hit 45, I could no longer see up close while wearing them. My eye doc said I needed readers and I refused to believe that was possible. Now I wear readers often, but if I wear them too long, I at all when I take them off! Love the new show! Break a leg!
GEN X here.....proud to have done tons of crazy shit on the farm growing up.Playing on machinery that could kill you a thousand different ways.Learning to drive a tractor before I was 10 , learning to shoot and hunt and fish my Father and Grandfather. How to do vehicle maintenance. How to be self reliant. Most of all....how to be a man. Love to all Gen X out there and by the way this podcast is only going one way.....up baby up. Best of luck and best wishes for future success. Love the show
Adam Savage gave a great piece of advice on meeting people when I inteviewed him and on his live streams. He talked about how exhausting it used to be after cons, meeting so many people that want something, if only an experience from you. He said that at one point he stopped fighting against it, just embraced it, and then it became a source of energy for him. He also mentioned that he has been given an awesome gift, the ability to make someones day, just by being nice. I have really embraced this when I am recognized in public, just been my nice, authentic, Canadian self :) I think you should do the same.
Once you get the lighting fixed it will be better. Gen Xers use Coke when ordering any carbonated beverage. I'm one of those pushing 60 Gen Xers. I look forward to the next one
Next time someone ask "hey aren't you that dude?".. you should use your in character voice to tell em "terribly sorry sir,, but you seem have confused me for someone else."..
I was just explaining this exact thing to my nephew today he pointed out the price on something and I was like yeah same price as the coke he said that's dr pepper I was like no there all cokes then you ask what kind of coke do you want he looked at me like I was mad but I assured him this is how it is and I was proud to teach him a life lesson 😂
Gen X'er here... I live in rural Northern Wisconsin and while my son is technically a Gen Z... I raised him to be an Alpha! He is hard working, rough and... ready.... independent 😆 LOVE this POD cast... Thank you! And my husband love his DBV hat!
Keep these going mate. The format you have is good as you could talk about various generations. As I’m also a gen x and a British army veteran after 32 yrs of service, I relate to all what you talk about mate. Great podcast.
I grew up in New Mexico and Texas and I agree it seems all of us Gen X kids did grow up the same and now that you mention it, it is amazing that we grew up so similarly without the connection of internet.
I love the pod cast, will continue to watch/listen! Love hearing your real voice and your stories. I too, am Gen X and proud of it. Keep up the good work, thanks!
Dadbod, your sister is very attractive! As a fellow Navy vet, 1969-1973, i would love to hear some of your Navy stories. We all have stories! it was neat hearing you mention some old DOS terms. This was great. Look forward to next episode
Loved the Podcast you and your sister. Brought back memories of my childhood times. Born in 1978 live mostly outside in the summer,Fall, and sometimes in winter grew up in Northeast and little bit in Southern Central Florida area in mid 1980’s from 1985-1989. Lived rest of my life in Western Massachusetts. Dadbod Vet also wanna say thank you Sir your service in US Navy. I am son of Veteran as well and some my family served in Military. For me I served as EMT for 6 years and 9 years as Emergency Medical Responder. I love your videos keep it up.
Hello! Started catching your reels on Insta a few months back and love your videos. I'm a Gen X (born in 1970) and started showing your videos to my wife (born in 1972). You crack us up almost daily now. Watched and loved the podcast. Can't wait for the next one.
From a British veteran who most definitely has a dad bod, excellent stuff your doing here, can't wait for the next installment 👍 PS. Your little Sis is 🔥🔥🔥
My wife and I run a podcast out of Columbia SC. (Southern Fried Spooky) I think you guys nailed it. good banter but staying on topic! Well done. can't wait for more!
Husband and I are GenX and raising an Alpha. I absolutely agree with your assessment. She's much like us, but has an appreciative cheering section as parents.
As a Gen-x. In Texas during the 80's, all soda was called "Coke". Then you told them what kind of "Coke" you wanted. Dr. Pepper was the most popular. Especially in Dallas. The bottling company was on Greenville Ave & Lovers Ln.
That’s what I thought!!! Your actual voice sounds great! You both have such beautiful eyes and personalities 🤗 Thank you for this. Keep up the great work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
KJ, the expression on your face when you said “I mean you, you were a lot of fun” says it all right there (big brother tormenting little sister) 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You guys are awesome!!! Please keep it up ! It's nice to here the stories when your growing up , being a GenX myself I can relate to alot of the short videos that you do . I have to say our Generation Rocks !! Keep it up with your podcasts so that we all can get to know you guys better .
Love listening to others who have lived through and survived the same times I did. And Kelly is not just attractive but has a sharp whit also.... you eem like a fun, great group of people. Keep up the pod casting!
I was born in 1965 so I'm just barely a Gen X but oddly enough I tend to get along better with younger people. I try to get along with everyone but if that isn't possible I have zero problems deleting people from my life.
👍 cool podcast. So, now that I have gotten home from work and been able to sit in my easy chair and watch the whole podcast, it is very entertaining. I look forward to future podcasts, with you and your sister. Being firmly in the middle of the Gen X group, with children ranging from 29 down to 17, I've dealt with the millennials and the following generation. As well as this newest feral generation, with my granddaughters that are 6 & 4. With all that said, I can relate on so many of your videos. For your future podcasts, I'd like to hear you and your sister discuss the impacts that you saw growing up, like the end of the cold war, the challenger disaster, and other world events from our youth that are now in history books for these younger generations, and if the historians are getting it right or not. Look forward to seeing more from both of you.
First time listener but iv seen tiktok random stuff. Iv thumbs up everything iv seen. All honesty im only at 4:12 into it yet and I'll come back if there's anything else. Not criticism just creative criticism, a filter on the camera or tint the windows to control the daylight. Find a happy medium of talking to each other and talking to us and more deco but the location is great. just twick it. The non dungeon podcast location us awesome. The whole process is a learning experience to fine tuning it but have fun please!
This is so good...so natural and positiv. Being a gen x myself , I totally agree that our way is the smart way 😉 Keep up the good work . I can not wait EP2
Dadbod Vet and KJ you two were amazing. I loved every minute of it. I am 52 and a hard core Gen X'r. Keep the podcast coming. Not sure if I will survive the two week wait. But the dadbod videos in between will do just fine and dandy I wreckon.
This was great, I know as a GenX’er you don’t care (but secretly do), but your podcast was highly entertaining! As others said, your normal voice is different -and not in a bad way, just… different. But it was great to hear you guys just chatting away… so the GenX Supreme Court can add an “aye” to the tally. Go team Dadbod!
All three are right depending on the audience, Coke in the south, Pop in the Midwest, Soda everywhere else…. GenX and an elder millennial….close enough to get along, far enough apart to not get each other…… loved Episode 1 can’t wait for the sequel… What I want is a little history of your time in the Navy and KJ’s life between HS and Podcast, just to get a bit more frame of reference. Coming from a fellow Gen X Navy Vet with horizontal butt chins hiding under the beard rocking the dadbod beyond!
Excellent job guys. I learned of the podcast from Facebook just this evening. From what I remember pre-internet was the "BULLETIN BOARD" where you could log onto for posting/responding to messages/posts. Some had games. Being that you guys are from Ohio, I was curious as to why you picked Charleston to settle in. I am from there. Born on the naval base when the hospital was actually on the base in 62. Lived in Summerville for years after dad retired mid 70's. Again, great show and eagerly waiting for the next. Also thanks to Mrs D.B.V. & Mr B.J.
Here’s why we became “Helicopter Parents”: Adam Walsh and the media feeding frenzy following his abduction and horrific murder. From that day forward every single news segment included the disappearance of yet another child. Daily we were witnessing the horror and anguish of the parents in our living rooms and we were left with a feeling of hopelessness and desperation. It literally changed the way we raised our children. Kids went from carefree days playing outside with their friends to being shuffled to the local police department to have their fingerprints taken. I believe it was the most pivotal time in our nation. No other single event, in my memory, had such a sudden and profound impact on our families as the disappearance of Adam Walsh and his father John Walsh’s crusade to find his son. The Cold War also had an impact on us. Every day we were reminded, by the MSM and Hollywood, that our lives would inevitably be ripped apart by nuclear war and we were powerless to stop it. I remember standing over my children as they slept, my heart in my throat as I grappled with the fear of worrying about what would happen to my precious babies if a nuclear blast killed their father and I and they were left alive and alone. I know I wasn’t alone in dealing with this fear. The whole world was under the oppressive cloud of helplessness. It was suffocating. We took control of our children and we let fear be our guide.
I watch a lot of podcasts, and this is now one of them. That may not sound like the highest of praise, but I'm very picky, so it's not nothing. Great stuff from you folks, and I appreciate you doing it. Keep it up.
Love it so far! A couple of guest suggestions: - you and Slim Sherri together would be amazing. - a veteran's day episode with some of the other veteran (or currently serving) creators Keep doing what you're doing brother!
Super job guys! LOVE the banter and eerily familiar“growing up” stories. Your sister would be considered the best of the millennials (if there is such a thing 😏) known as an “Elder Millennial”. They are raised using the superior Gen-X methods, just not lucky enough to have earned the title. Love the podcast guys!
Shoutout from Sweden! I was born in 1980, and I totally agree with the comment that “we weren’t connected, but we did the same things”. Love the podcast! Looking forward to the next episode.
Years ago, Keanu's band, "Dogstar," played at the Whisky-a-Go Go. As he made his way through the crowd, I was making my way through the crowd, and when I got close, I turned to, let's be honest, press my boobs against him. It was great. My heart did flip-flops. He wasn't married at the time. I'd been crushing on him since I was 16, and I was about 22 at the time, so I'd been fostering that fanaticism for awhile. But that was it. It seems pretty respectful, viewing it through today's lens.
Loved the podcast pilot! Best part was hearing of the Thanksgiving plans with the sailors coming to the house. We will be at Great Lakes for our son’s PIR the day before. So happy we will be able to spend thanksgiving with him before he goes to A school.
Last year I attended the 25 year reunion of CVN75 HST RX (plankowners and 1st deployment veterans). Awesome that your son is now serving on the “Give em’ Hell” HST.
Voice was a shock but still works because you both are entertaining. Makes me think of talking to my own brothers, one a millennial! 😂 look forward to more podcasts!
Carnivore eating will take away the inflammation that causes edema and pain in your joints, including plantar fasciitis which actually comes from pinched nerves in your back.
@dark_wolf1092 And that is Absolutely Ridiculous to me!!! I am like..."C'mon!!! I am already dealing with depression and/or anxiety, but I'm not suicidal. However, you want me to take something that could increase the risk of suicide!?! Seriously!?! Nope...I'll just manage the depression and anxiety without the suicide. Thank You very much!!" These are definitely concerns I encourage clients to discuss with their psychiatrists.
This is great. Love your FB stuff too. I’m a retired baby boomer, mother of 1 gen x’r and 2 millennials. Lived in Charleston for 17 years, my kids were all born there.
I agree. It is strange hearing your real voice😅 love the dadbod voice and the videos r hilarious. I'll be 50 next month and everything is so spot on! Makes my day watching your videos. ❤ thank you. Can't wait to watch the next podcast as well. 😊 I am a pop drinker.😁
Keep doing what you're doing I've always found that it makes it better n I only needed to fall off the horses a couple of times to stop me from falling
As an Aussie, Dad of 8 ..... I have a theory on Gen Alpha. :-) They are smarter than their millennial parents and hold a perspective not unlike Gen X'ers and with this view they see their parents (Good or not so good) for their flaws and peculiarities while viewing older Gen X members of their extended families as a better or more fun example in life and this view leads them to follow in a more Gen X manner and hold more conservative and libertarian views. I feel that by setting an awesome example Gen X has exacted the revenge on their kids through their GrandKids :-) That said? My teen daugher is a Boomer......... Man its rough with the last kid.
This is great. I was expecting more of a southern accent, so that was surprising. I agree with your wife no hugging. I had to break my grandfather and stepdad from hugging people, when all the “me too” started happening. I told them that in their small town, since they know everyone, it was ok. But when they visit me in the city, it’s a hard no. Thank you for all the laughs.
Hearing your natural voice seems like I'm committing a crime😂
Guess you now know the secret! :)
I thought his voice sounded weird too. It is not just you
😂😂😂😂 I know right. Like who is this guy? 😂😂😂
It’s like listening to Ewan McGregor playing an American. My puppy brain cannot register the real accent.
And seeing more than just a head on his shoulders!
58, Veteran, dadbod. You are my people! Well done sir
It's nice to hear "normal" people just enjoy talking to one another. No agendas. No politics. No real topic. I think you'll be great at this.
I totally agree. It's refreshing
sitting down to a cup of coffee with a friend. awesome
❤
"To be honest with you, we don't know what the heck we're doing". Love it, already...
I've been near-sighted since high school and wear contacts. When I hit 45, I could no longer see up close while wearing them. My eye doc said I needed readers and I refused to believe that was possible. Now I wear readers often, but if I wear them too long, I at all when I take them off!

Thank you!

Give a fist bump when they recognize you! Love your stuff, from SC also in Columbia. I am 62 here and watch all your stuff. SODA.
Next time someone ask "hey aren't you that dude?".. you should use your in character voice to tell em "terribly sorry sir,, but you seem have confused me for someone else."..
Yes!!!!! It’s all Coke in the South! What kind of Coke? That’s a separate question.

This was great. I’m a Gen-x (1970) middle child. Amazed at times I’m still here 😂.
From a vet with a dad bod, luscious beard and seemingly exact same relationship with my baby sister.... Well done, @thedadbodveteran!
Loved the Podcast you and your sister. Brought back memories of my childhood times. This is 100% amazing. It needs to be a weekly thing! BDV and KJ are fantastic.
Most excellent work folks! Loving the dual perspectives from Gen X and Millenial. The way yall relate is adorable, I cant wait to see more! 👏👏👏
I subscribed the moment your intro video on us "GenX'ers" was done. Pure gold and stay rolling.
Hello! Started catching your reels on Insta a few months back and love your videos. I'm a Gen X (born in 1970) and started showing your videos to my wife (born in 1972). You crack us up almost daily now. Watched and loved the podcast. Can't wait for the next one.

Your little Sis is 🔥🔥🔥
I am pretty sure we both would be close friends pretty instantly.
If I wouldn’t live about 8000 miles away. Thank you for sharing.
My wife and I run a podcast out of Columbia SC. (Southern Fried Spooky) I think you guys nailed it. good banter but staying on topic! Well done. can't wait for more!
Great show. Will we ever meet BJ or Mrs. Dadbod? More outtakes, please.
Husband and I are GenX and raising an Alpha. I absolutely agree with your assessment. She's much like us, but has an appreciative cheering section as parents.
Gen x here. My x is a millennial we have 2 alpha kids...it's a fun household
GenX raised Alphas for the win
Same here. We have three Alphas (GenX2)
As someone born in 1957, who grew up as a military brat with the kind of feral childhood you enjoyed, you've got a Boomer as a subscriber!
As a Gen-x. In Texas during the 80's, all soda was called "Coke". Then you told them what kind of "Coke" you wanted. Dr. Pepper was the most popular. Especially in Dallas. The bottling company was on Greenville Ave & Lovers Ln.
This is great. I'm so glad you started it!
As soon as you said “Deck Department” I knew how that would go
That’s what I thought!!! Your actual voice sounds great! You both have such beautiful eyes and personalities 🤗 Thank you for this. Keep up the great work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
DBV this is Awesome and Please keep it Going !!!

I’m am also Gen X (1972) and we called PJ “Jungle Juice”. We put it in an empty 5 gallon water bottle 😂
Great Job for the Pilot... Keep up the Good Work!
Not bad. Not bad at all! I think yall ought to keep going!
I'm 53 just love this keep it up.
I'm 62 but was raised as a gen X. Honestly, glad that there was no internet back then cuz I did so much stupid stuff and had a ton of fun.
Thanks for your service. Great show. Kelly is a fine young lady. Wish both of you and yours the best. Till next time. Slan ☘️
This one goes “to the comments!” for Kelly’s sake. 😂😘
Every two weeks is a crime. This needs to be weekly.

It’s great to have Kelly there!! I don’t know how long you’ve been married, but it’s great to see that you kept it in the family!! Great podcast. ❤
Love the podcast! Down to earth and KJ is a smoke show!
I love the readers jibe, either you can’t read or can’t see the past 30 yards! It’s a Gen X thing especially for those born in 1965-69
This is so good...so natural and positiv. Being a gen x myself , I totally agree that our way is the smart way 😉 Keep up the good work . I can not wait EP2

When people recognize you, give them a response in “the voice.” Fist bump at most.
I watch a lot of podcasts, and this is now one of them.
That may not sound like the highest of praise, but I'm very picky, so it's not nothing.
Great stuff from you folks, and I appreciate you doing it.
Keep it up.
Love listening to the two of you chatting like we're not listening. So relaxed and natural. Its great.
Love it so far!
A couple of guest suggestions:
- you and Slim Sherri together would be amazing.
- a veteran's day episode with some of the other veteran (or currently serving) creators
Keep doing what you're doing brother!
just catching up on these. thanks
Your voice is erm different. Lol brilliant, always wondered where that accent came from. Great vid.
After starting in the Army, retiring from the Navy, and playing sports my whole childhood, I tell people it's not the age, it's the mileage.
Super job guys! LOVE the banter and eerily familiar“growing up” stories.

Awesome pod cast, can’t wait to hear more, KJ definitely got the looks in the family 🤣
Yes sir, Standing by. USMC retired
Great pilot. In future podcasts it would be great to hear some of your other voices characters

As a barely millennial (1981). I totally feel the putting on the readers
Great show guys.
We say Soft Drink.
And KJ is Hot.
From down under.
Well done Sir!!! Love everything you do
Thanks for helping start everyday with coffee and devotion
Miss Dadbod puttin the LAW down! Stopp.. ya gonna scare the millinial off😂
Loved the podcast pilot! Best part was hearing of the Thanksgiving plans with the sailors coming to the house. We will be at Great Lakes for our son’s PIR the day before. So happy we will be able to spend thanksgiving with him before he goes to A school.
@thedadbodveteran you being the middle child explains a lot about you :)
That brief mention of The Icehouse brought back so many memories!!!
Loving the podcast, can’t wait to hear more!
I’m loving this. Especially the sibling growing up stories stuff. (I’m an only and missed out on all that.)
I'm 60, Canadian and say pop. Love your videos and the pod cast was awesome ❤
This is great! 5 minutes in and I’m already entertained and hooked!
Very simply, authenticity will take you further than anything else
Carnivore eating will take away the inflammation that causes edema and pain in your joints, including plantar fasciitis which actually comes from pinched nerves in your back.
I'm absolutely loving this. You guys are great. I'm a gen Xer and been a fan of the DBV for a good while. Thank you so much. keep it up.
Working in the Mental Health Field...i always roll my eyes when i hear about Anti-depressants that "may increase suicidality". Le Siiiiigh...😂😂😂
I have taken 4 different anti-anxiety/anti-depressant meds and every one of them has the warning that it may increase the risk of suicidal urges.
Thank You very much!!"
These are definitely concerns I encourage clients to discuss with their psychiatrists.
Yes we need more Podcasts like this. As others have said no politics no agenda just a few people talking! More please!
Dadbod Veteran skin for Call of Duty *must* have the reading glasses! 😂
This is great. Love your FB stuff too. I’m a retired baby boomer, mother of 1 gen x’r and 2 millennials. Lived in Charleston for 17 years, my kids were all born there.
But wait! The accent... 😂
We should ALL be like Keanu!
It is fun, podcasts seem kinda hard to get going. If you make them they will come
Thanks! I know this one is a bit rough, but we learned a lot. More coming soon!
It's coke, they are all Cokes, and I'd like a root beer, thank you! --2 genx with 3 gen z kids
Keep doing what you're doing I've always found that it makes it better n I only needed to fall off the horses a couple of times to stop me from falling
As an Aussie, Dad of 8 ..... I have a theory on Gen Alpha. :-)
They are smarter than their millennial parents and hold a perspective not unlike Gen X'ers and with this view they see their parents (Good or not so good) for their flaws and peculiarities while viewing older Gen X members of their extended families as a better or more fun example in life and this view leads them to follow in a more Gen X manner and hold more conservative and libertarian views.
I feel that by setting an awesome example Gen X has exacted the revenge on their kids through their GrandKids :-)
That said? My teen daugher is a Boomer......... Man its rough with the last kid.
It's soda... Coke is a brand name.
And it is truly refreshing to hear your real voice! Rock on.
This is an imposter, y'all.
Dont believe him! 😂
