    I know its the point of the video and I enjoy this premise, but it is amusing how you walk a longer journey in Warrington than you would have had to if you just walked from high level to low level in Liverpool

      Maybe this could become a series? Lime Street - Preston - Ormskirk - Lime Street might make a nice trip, as would Lime Street - Wigan - Southport - Lime Street.

      I would think taking the wirral line to Bidston, then the Wrexham train, to Shotton. The North Wales coast line to Chester, and finally Chester to Liverpool Lime Street, on the Merseyrail electric train again.

    One challenge Nick you could undertake is which is the quickest way to interchange from Lime Street to Liverpool Central Northern Line. Is it through using the Wirral Line to Central and then a myriad of escalators/lifts to the Northern Line or walking on street level. Could be interesting to see which works out quickest as the result maybe closer than you might imagine.

      I do that often and always walk it. If you got on a train straight away at Lime St lower level it would probably be quicker but if if you had to wait a few minutes, walking would be quicker. Would have to be best of ten for a definitive result.

    • @GeorgeRBuck
      @GeorgeRBuck Год назад +1

      As this is one of my frequent journeys, I quickly learned that walking Lim St to Central was the simplest for me, since it avoided steps/escalators. But the reverse journey by train is, of course, too complicated since this is the one way loop that the Wirral Line executes to turn back to The Wirral. So Shanks's Pony it is!

    I made a similar journey once, but going from Lime Street Underground, to the main line station. I had come in from Colwyn Bay, and changed at Chester, to get to a job interview with the National Trust. When I walked back to Airport Parkway I took the mainline to Lime Street, and changed back to the underground, for the Chester train.

    5:20 Hate the stair-ramps (stramps?) at Hunts Cross. Either commit to access and build a ramp, or don't do that and just build stairs. Now that lifts have been installed, there's even less reason for the stramps, so it just takes up so much room and makes walking up or down them awkward.

  • @benbrist

    Here's a few in Scotland:
    Paisley Gilmour Street to Paisley Canal - about a 10 minute walk between the two - an advantage is that because it goes through Glasgow Central you can use a break of journey there. Can even get a season ticket for it 🤣. Opportunities for video of the train depots at Corkerhill & Shields Depot.
    Glasgow Central Low Level to Glasgow Queen Street Low Level - another 10 minute walk, you can switch at Partick or Hyndland to achieve this. Could probably make it even longer doing a high/low combination or both high stations.
    Falkirk High to Falkirk Grahamston
    Helensburgh Central to Helensburgh Upper
    Coatbridge Sunnyside to Coatbridge Central

    If you come to Birmingham there are plenty of ways to get from Birmingham Moor Street to Birmingham New Street apart from the few minutes walk. I am planning to do Moor Street, Stratford on Avon, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Nuneaton, New Street over the next month or so. A couple of years ago I got on a train to Birmingham Snow Hill but there was some problem on the line and although the guard announced ticket acceptance on the buses, I ran down the stairs at Smethwick Galton Bridge station and got a train into Birmingham New Street and a tram to the Town Hall and was only 4 minutes late for my meeting.
