  • It's not very often that an instrument comes along that defies classification. The Volta Violinatron does, though. It can function like an acoustic, like an acoustic-electric, or like a solid-body electric.
In this video, we discuss what the instrument is and have a brief chat with the inventor, Marat Gabdullin.
Check out our Facebook Live video from April 28, 2021 for a much more in-depth review and discussion.

This is really cool! I am considering buying the 5 string version. I currently own the glasser Aex carbon composite white violin. Wish it was weather resistant but that's fine. Would you be able to install geared pegs upon request along with the purchase?

I'm kind of impressed by the pickup -- whatever they're using sounds so much more natural than I'm used to hearing from an electric. Particularly the G and D strings tend to sound so flabby and artificial on many electrics with Barbera pickups and piezo mics. Many of them tend to sound all right on the higher end, but the lower end often sounds more like a pad voice on an FM synth. This sounded so much more like actual strings; You can hear the sharpness/softness of the attack and the transitions and everything.

Not sure I agree on the part about Barbera pickups sounding artificial or flabby, but the Volta does sound good.

I guess you’ll get 2-3 days battery life with those speakers?

He just did a 5 hour show with it on full volume and it still had more than 50% battery left.
