Hi there, I'd like to ask you something that is driving me nuts ever since I bought my Sims 2 Deluxe. Ok here igoes, while I'm building a room I have NO ceiling, I see the sky, so I can't create a nice ceiling with beams or whatever or a nice lamp like I see in many players pics. By any chance do you know why I have these things missing? Excuse my errors if any, am from Barcelona and English isn't my mother languga. Thanks a lot!!!
Sorry for the late response on this. But this happens to me alot in the game too. I noticed that the sims 2 doesnt automactically add a ceiling if you dont havd a second level on your build. So you need add floor tiles on top of your build to prevent seeing the sky in your build
Hi there and thanks for answering me but I already tried what you said, building a escond floor and I still see the sky while am building the first floor. I'ts reallt very annoing but I see there's no way to solve it. Very kind of you for trying to help me
How were you able to have her live in the hotel, are you using any mods? Asking because you can't move a sim to a hotel in the main neighborhood and if you visit the hotel, you can't save there because the sim isn't actually living there
@@mlcd3242 what about the concierge table he put down? The doors he used are the ones used for hotels, the ones for apartments are the "Unique separator" doors which have a rug on the out side of the door. Maybe you can use the ones without the rug as well but I've always seen the ones with the rug being the ones used.
I built this has a hotel, Mary Sue still has her home lot that's empty, but for the storyline I'm having her check in to the motel and "live there" until her money runs out. I hope that makes sense. Cause sims can't really live in hotels without mods
Unfortunately the hotel is not gonna work, at least not how you intended. I believe you want it to work like the hotels you stay in during vacations, you have the hotel doors and front desk, you pay a fee for a room each night and you get access to stuff like room service and the housekeeper. Hotels in The Sims 2 are their own class of lots, they are neither residential or community. They require the community lot phone and trashcan, but as far as I'm aware your lot is zoned as residential. This isn't critical as you can use the changelotzoning cheat to change it to community, then sell the residential trashcan and mailbox and buy the community phone and trash bin, and then use changelotzoning again to change it to hotel. You need to change it to community first, then hotel, usually custom hotels are built in standard community lots but like I said this isn't critical as changing from residential to community isn't problematic (unlike from community to residential where you won't be able to buy the mailbox or trash can without mods). But lots zoned as hotels only work in vacation subhoods, placing them in any other type of (sub)hood will result in them not being usable and as far as I know there hasn't been a mod that changes this. So if you want this lot zoned as hotel to get the proper hotel behaviour, it will never work in Pleasantview and Mary Sue will not be able to stay there. There are workarounds, but those require some changes and a bit of imagination. IMO the best thing to do would be to make this lot an apartment lot and have her live there renting an "apartment". You need to change the hotel doors into apartment doors but other than that I think it's fine. Rent will only come once a week (plus the regular bills twice a week) and you might need either a mod or testingcheatsenabled to rent a room furnished since most non-essentials in an apartment disappear when you use the regular rent option. I recommend a mod for rent furnished anyway, it's pretty useful and realistic. Also, they won't have a housekeeper and room service. Since this lot is zoned as residential instead of community, you can change lot zoning to apartment without any problems, but remember to make any changes while it is still residential. The other option is leaving it as residential and having Mary Sue "buy" the lot (you can refund the cost with cheats) and any other Sims that live there join the "household". I prefer the apartment solution as each Sim is treated as a different household with different bank accounts and rooms that are off-limits. So in short, I really like the story behind this, but unfortunately the mechanics of The Sims 2 don't allow for it. It would be cool if hotels worked in main hoods or downtowns because what city doesn't have hotels? The closest you can get is by making apartments that resemble hotels.
hotels can work in the main hoods, and downtowns, you are allowed to go there and play the lot just fine, the game however don't treat as if you are on a vacation. but you can go and sleep one or two nights if you so wish, it will just not treat as vacation, and his hotel will not work cause its missing the required objects, but it can work on any hood.
@@gabrielandy9272 you are indeed right, I stand corrected! I tested a hotel in a main hood and it worked. It's a regular community lot to where you can travel, but inside you can rent rooms (and the check-in works as expected) and sleep. Sleeping was actually my main concern with hotels outside of regular hoods, since they would be treated as community lots and you can't sleep at community lots, but you can sleep at hotels. Of course, since hotels weren't really made for this there are a few oddities. You still need the family to "own" a residential lot, load up their household and travel to the hotel. Sims don't age there, from what I've tested, so time is frozen. They also can't go to work at all, it's not just the carpool that doesn't come, the option to walk to work doesn't appear. I think these two are the biggest limitations of using motels like intended in the video - I guess you could technically work around it by manually aging Sims with SimPE or some cheat or mod and constantly go back home to work, but what a pain that would be. Anyway, this lot isn't even a hotel because the lot isn't properly zoned, or at least it's missing the community lot phone and bin. I've been playing this game for over a decade and I'm still learning! I was always convinced hotels would work as regular community lots when outside of vacation subhoods.
@@yvltc they work normally as hotels but the game dont treat as a vacation, and when I mean vacation I don't mean the real life meaning I mean the game meaning, the definition of a vacation in sims 2 is being able to save outside of you home lot. Please could you tell me how to do this correctly? I'm sorry to be a bother, you just sound very knowledgeable of Sims2 and I'm still new to it.
@@RosesTeaAndASD my idea of a duplex is a property with two identical units side by side, is this what you want to build? If so, assuming you own Apartment Life, you can build it as an apartment lot. Start with a residential lot and build everything like that, especially any structural elements as you can't change them when it is zoned as an apartment. Remember to add the special apartment doors as the front door to each unit. Once you're done, change the lot to an apartment using the "changelotzoning apartment" cheat and the residential mailbox should change to the apartment mailbox. If this was not what you intended to build, do tell me and I'll try to answer again.
