    Awesome video!! one curious inquiry. You think that downlink mesh backhaul would use the 6 Ghz band? As new APs are supporting WiFI 6E capabilities.

    • @CiscoSal
      @CiscoSal  2 года назад

      That’s a good use case for the new 6e access points. The ones i used in this video do not have that capability. Also check out fluid mesh.

    We opened a TAC case regarding this topic but with ethernet bridging. Followed guide by cisco but had an issue on multiple vlans crossing the bridge. Only native vlan are able to cross the bridge. But hey, thanks a lot, liked your video. 😊

    I noticed the last batch of 3802i APs that I converted from LWAP to Mobility Express never broadcast the CiscoProvisioning SSID. I generally do the initial setup with a console cable anyway, but I was having a problem where they weren't forwarding traffic after the console wizard, and I wanted to see if the web wizard would be any different. I'm sorry. I can't remember the ME version.

    There is alot that can go wrong with the installation of the mesh AP and I had to do alot of it in CLI. Personally I do set the bridge group name and some parameters.
    For example if you have wired bridging and you need VLANs to go across you damn better add them to the default-flexgroup or it will work for a while and after a reboot or disconnect it will resort to access mode.
    Adding VLANs in the GUI was not working in any browser so I also had to do that in CLI.
    I got this working on 2802I AP but with alot of pain since they are not supported ;p and on a pair of 1542i since they ARE supported.

    Thanks for sharing! What if I have a WLC to manage those instead of an ME setup?

      No problem. If you have a 55xx/2xxx controller you can follow this guide. www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/8-5/config-guide/b_cg85/connecting-mesh-aps.html Its for 8.5 code.

    Hi,
    1. In case I have 3 AP (1 ME as Master, 1 ME as normal ME capability AP but not master role , 1 Capwap). Can Capwap AP mesh with the second ME (what is not Master)?.
    2. In case ALL AP have cable to eth0 (as uplink), can I config the mesh as a backup uplink. On the Aruba, I can do that.
    Thank you!

    why you choose capwap in ME Client instead of ME. From my understanding, capwap is for WLC Controller but not MEMaster

    Are Mobility express and Mesh setup the same thing?

    • @CiscoSal
      @CiscoSal  2 года назад +1

      No. Mobility express is the gui where you configure the access point. You can configure mesh in mobility express.

      @@CiscoSal Thank you. Is mobility express the only way to configure Mesh?
      Context: My customer has a WLC 3504 with some AP 1830i connected to it. He saw a "Mesh" option on the WLC options menu and asked if we can enable it. As per my understanding, the use of a Mesh topology is only for scenarios when we can't or don't want to connect an AP to the switch via cable.

    • @CiscoSal
      @CiscoSal  2 года назад +1

      Correct the 3504 can do mesh. I would stay away from it unless you need it. You each hop in mesh cuts bandwidth in half. True for anyone’s mesh solution. If you really can’t get an Ethernet cable to an ap then go for it. But It’s always better to wire them.
