“If Only He Had ACLs” Dejuan Blair Stunted Growth Story!

  • Today’s feature is a guy that even through the worst case scenario of having two knee surgeries back in high school and losing both his ACLs, still became an outstanding high school and college player, and still made the NBA after just 2 years in college, playing 7 years in total in the league. For a second round pick he had more than you could ask for considering, and never let that stop him from believing he could still compete against the best in the world. After falling in the draft he vowed to make all the teams that passed on him regret their decision, and he had a start that made some feel as such. He became a full time starter by his third season in the NBA, for one of the best franchises in NBA history, that went to the NBA finals with Dajuan Blair providing significant minutes during the season, before falling out of the rotation. He was listed at 6’7, some say closer to 6’5, but understood his athletic limitations and used his other talents like his strength and ability to get and keep position under the basket for rebounds and drop off passes where he displayed crafty, quick finishes before the defense could close in, or sometimes he even elevated above the defender and slam dunked in the face of opponents. DaJuan Blair’s heart over height and even ACLs is an inspiring story, but one you can’t help but ask the question what if he did have his ACLs, that could make him even more stable, athletic and durable than he was, maybe he could’ve been a star in the NBA. “If Only He Had ACLs” Dejuan Blair Stunted Growth Story!

Has Elton Brand been done yet? Former 1 pick, Duke Champion, and was a good 20-10 guy but was over shadowed by the Dirks, KG, Duncan and Webber runs. I think he’ll be interesting.
