Their answer to this is ,”well GOD said to make two cherubim for my ark”,which entitles them to make millions of statues of people,(mostly Mary),dogs sheep cattle,etc,etc.
Another one of these geniuses said,”well in the old days they didnt have cameras so they had statues made of their loved ones”.UNBELIEVABLE !

I have just watched all 10 episodes and I played each DVD over and over. A friend gave it to me after receiving it at one of your talks in Edinburgh. I am now giving it to another friend and she will do the same. I have learned so much that I never knew. You have made my faith stronger. I love Jesus and our mother Mary. Yup. Some people doesn't even give it a chance. They'll go after every new age philosophy out there except Catholicism. They keep criticizing it. But none of them try to follow the teachings, or try to reform it from within or reform it with love or try anything by being inside the church.

a terrific book for people just starting to explore Catholicism. Barron's other book Catholic Theology is more advanced but if you stay with it will elevate you to another level of understanding God and his plan.

I became a Catholic in 1958, aged 24. Infalliility to me is not a problem. The HOLY SPIRIT preserve Popes from erring in their teaching on Faith and morals.
Can you put up the full series, or at least make it available on Netflix? I guarantee you'll get views. It's far too expensive to justify anyone purchasing it as is on Amazon.

It occurs to me that the art at the Cathedral of St Clemente is inspiring. The Tree of Life in the garden of Eden seems to be the cross of Jesus.
I am a devoted Catholic but at this point, I am embarrassed to be one. A woman demanded that a statue of Spider Man's hands (put up by a Christain organization) on private property be taken down because she thought it was "demonic and offensive". There are some really crazy people that make our religion look so bad.
i'd like to purchase the whole series but have no money for it. it's so expensive. why is there no possibility to rent each one of these online?

This is a great documentary Fr. Barron. Thank you so much for this initiative.
I would like to give, however, a criticism. At the end, when you try to explain change in the Church through the centuries, I think it would have been better to use Benedict XVI explanation of change in the church rather than John Henry Newman, because Benedict XVI explained so well that change in the church happens in the circumstantial aspects of history and culture, whereas the core, the doctrine, the essential (as opposed to the historically circumstantial) remains the same, when explaining what changed and what remained after Vatican II.
It makes complete sense, and it would even add to your previous argument that the church assimilates aspects of truth in other cultures, that the church changes only in those aspects that are cultural, even in its most idiosincratic aspects of the doctrine it changes. But the essential values of the Gospel are still there untouched. In that sense Paul and Peter would have felt at home, because even though institutions have changed, the language has changed, the doctrines have developed (as you quote Newman) the church has preserved the core message of Jesus Christ, as explained by Benedict XVI.
