I fish from the bank at my home reservoir. Very shallow and lots of structure. I started realizing that only a few locations would produce fish, and ever since I eliminated the other areas I have a higher rate of success, bigger fish, and consistent bites.
The process you’re explaining is exactly what i did last year. I broke my pb 3 times in my same lake and caught plenty of nice fish for NJ.
This spring I plan on attacking the same body of water with my most successful tactics from last year, as well as a few new ones.

Good stuff Mike! RUclips is flooded with too many unboxing vids, bait reviews and generic how to vids. This is the stuff that makes a difference. That and time on the water...
If you wanna fish some Motherlode lakes in NorCal hit me up. Always an open seat and place to crash.

baremetric pressure is also a big one. This is also a contributing factor into where the fish are in the water colum it amazes me how many fisherman think or believe that it just luck right place right time. Although thay can apply. There is some science to continually catching big fish on many differant bodies of water.

    Great insight and advice.
Have read your article a few times, this was a great follow up and clarification on those points.
Can we ever expected some follow up videos in this series?

Loved the “fish it as if it’s gone” vid you made that’s help tremendously. To me spending less on a bait to put it places most wouldn’t dare with a more expensive one or any lure for that matter is worth it. Things happen that’s the game we play.
    Money can be made.
    Baits can be purchased.
The opportunity to stick that one fish you’ve been searching for all year, or even longer could be in that spot you’re too nervous to hit.
    just freaking send it!

I watched this video a while back and decided to get back into fishing. WCZ was like the small nudge I needed to get me right back out there. lol. My boat had sat for a couple years and I had only fished a handful of times with others or from shore while it did. I fixed that Beezy right up and she's had me out on the water for a couple months now. I've taken it seriously and went down the rabbit hole. My waters are still trout stocked, so WHY TF NOT!?!?!?!? I took a few trips to the delta and after that I started going to 1 lake, no where else, Just 1 lake. I got a band to return and have been there since. It's the beginning of the breakdown. I will stick some pigs, and when I do it'll be on one of my own baits or a WCZ soft bait. Can't wait for that trout proto from your other vid to drop. Thanks for inspiring me brotha!

Words of wisdom! You are awesome man, can't wait to stick a giant on one of your Battle Shads(hopefully). I have committed to my home lake now for 3 solid years and didn't really realize how important the lessons learned were until listening to you just now. Now, I understand so thank you. I have learned so much and am starting to finally apply it very consistently i.e. knowing what lures to throw/color and where, high% spots at certain times, feeding windows, and just being able to produce what I feel are consistently good bags(for my lake). I'm getting close to sticking another PB out there(I can feel it), my last happened this past June and it seems for some reason that early June is one of those PB windows around here, Idk why. I live in NE Oklahoma and your videos keep me pumped to go out there and stay after it. I love your channel and your words of wisdom. Thanks

Great video Mike! A lot of useful information here. I have a really small lake near me that I could fish 3 days a week. It's heavily pressured and the biggest fish I have seen in there was probably a 5 pounder. Do you think that It would be worth putting my time in to try and figure it out?

I would think for your theory to be extremely productive, which I think it absolutely would be, two years makes more sense because the second year of just fishing one lake should be when you enjoy the fruits of your labor.

  • @M3tal_matt
    @M3tal_matt 5 лет назад +1

Pretty much 100% of the time I fish from the bank at bigger ponds/small lakes and over the last 2-3 years I have really stuck to 1 lake near me in particular and what your saying is 100% true ...I have learned so much about that specific body of water over the last couple years and it completely shows..my odds of catching quality fish are 10xs greater then at other local spots and its strickly due to time on the water like you said..I dont do as good at other places cuz I flat out dont put in the time to learn the water. Same is true for just having a handful of baits with you. I would drive myself nuts looking at swimbaits and then I just told myself"just cover your basis..top, middle, and bottom of the water column and start with that. I'm new to the swimbait game and only have like 5 or 6 big baits (citizen being one of them🤘) and I'm confident that my basis are covered. It was awesome hearing it in someone elses words, good shit man 🤘

Thanks I really had never thought of the one lake thing. Here in Nebraska I am still looking to find that one lake with the population of larger fish, so I have been hopping. I think this year I will focus on 2 or 3 lakes and then decide which one to make my home lake in the future. Thanks for the information

I've heard you mention approaching a spot from different angles in a few different videos, and this is something that I have focused on lately. Would like to hear you elaborate on that thought at some point. Do you consider just the angle, or do you consider the combination of angle/time of day/location of shadows or lack thereof, etc? Asking mostly because I personally have a tendency to complicate things when I start thinking about how far down the rabbit hole I could go in an effort to become a better angler.
