  • A club event to celebrate Drive It Day 2023 from Stowmarket to Southwold via Thorpe Abbotts airfield and memorial museum to the USAAF 100 bomb group. This time we brave rain with the top down in "Bess" and chase an MGB and a TR5 through the Suffolk countryside.

    What a very nice drive it day you and the EAPC group. You seem to have had the best of the weather, in Essex it rained 'cats-n-dogs most of the day and in my drive around a few Essex villages I saw just four classics two BGT's one GT6 and a Vauxhall Cresta. better luck next year for Essex, Suffolk, you had a great day out and some lovely car, thanks for sharing your event, much appreciated. Cheers Bob

    Into every life, a little rain must fall, but as long as you keep moving at about 40mph, it goes straight over the top!

    Another great video Sean!
    I totally agree with you about HB Vivas, by far the prettiest. I was disappointed as a teenager when my father bought a Viva just after they changed to HC!

      Thank you so much. I think the HB was prettier than anything BL or Ford had to offer at that time, and yet they seem to be so overlooked. I was just thrilled to see that one.

    The Ford Probes here in the USA were also sold as the Mazda MX-6, although I haven't seen many, they are apparently fairly common, not a bad car, but they don't appeal to me personally.

    I do like the Renault 4, my Cousin had one in France, she used it as a Land Rover on their Dairy Farm. Curiously, the wheelbase is different on one side than the other!

      I think Renault also had an a symmetrical wheel Base in the 16 as well.

    Of course, they didn't get the TR5 in the USA, officially, but they did get the TR250 with carburettors. Many of those have now been tuned, with any smog equipment unceremoniously thrown in the trash, same with the TR6

    Great idea by the club, but why finish in a field where no one can see the cars?

      @seanhumfrey  Год назад +1

      Well David, that is a good point. However the field is right opposite Southwold pier and close to fish and chips. Sadly it is difficult to find places to park in these small seaside towns like Southwold and Aldeburgh for club events. Actually it has become difficult to find parking full stop. If you ever get the chance I hope you can come and join us next year. Our Drive it Day runs vary in route and locations each year. Have a look at the EAPC website (East Anglian Practical Classics). Would very much like to meet you.
