Saw the Tubes at Celebrity Theater in Phoenix in 1974. Easily THE BEST Show I ever saw. It was a total theater experience. Fee road a Harley on Stage with Re Styles. There were school desks on stage like a classroom and they played "Don't Touch Me There." I partied hard to this music!
I saw them in late 70's ! At The Celebrity Treatre. I agree. The BEST! They gave all they had, yet they never got the "recognition" people like us know they deserve. That's also why they're so cool. Tubes ROCK!
Saw this Era show in spring and summer of '77, at The Whiskey in Hollywood and an outdoor concert in LA. They were fabulously entertaining and the music still holds up today! Fee Waybill really was a massively underrated talent!
One of the best series of rock riffs ever thrown together. I love the stops and starts in this song, that's what makes rock music hit and roll. Wow, the vocals are top flight on this performance. Backing vocals matter more than a lot of bands think. They really matter. This song and performance alone should get them in the HOF. This is more important than ANYTHING madumna Beyacketty ever did, that's for sure.
I saw them about 10yrs. ago in a small club up front and I agree, They blew me away. Fee is such a cool guy, and hung around after the show and talked with us and signed an autograph for me . The Tubes deserve to be recognized as one of the best rock bands in the world .
The Tubes! Saw them a dozen times in SF who could forget the spectacle on new years eve at Winterland long way from when they formed merging 2 bands 72? the beans and ? good times Winterland Rocks
Saw the Tubes & the Infamous Quay Lude live a number of times back in the late 70s/early 80s - great concerts every time.. Being from LA, I use to tell people that this song was the theme song for Los Angeles back then as well
I've seen them a few times over the years here in Omaha. This past July they played at a small club called Barnato. There were maybe 100-150 people at the show. My son and I had a VIP front row table about 5 feet from stage left. I was even able to stand on the stage to take video/photos. We had a pre show meet and greet, got to see them rehearse and went to the after show party. Helluva bunch of nice guys. I knew Fee (John) was born here in Omaha but left when he was 4. He told me his brother was born in North Bend Nebraska. Re had passed away just a couple of weeks prior. Prairie Prince and I stood at the bar talking about her for about 15 minutes. At one point after I was on the stage taking photos I was walking back to my seat when my shorts tore all the way down from my left rear pocket. There was nothing I could do about it so I just went with it. The guys and Fee's wife got a good laugh. Fee's wife handles the merchandise table. With our VIP tickets we were able to pick out one item for free. We got t-shirts
I was listening to this band when I was in high school. Unbelievably nice! I was the only one who listened to this music in my school in Japan. This is still the best rock band I have ever heard.
This is footage from a playback session on The Old Grey Whistle Test lipsynched to the live rendition from What Do You Want From Live, completed with more recent footage from the 80s, the last sound bit was from the debut album.
Saw them as a teenager. My brother took me. Halloween 1980 or 1981 at the Orpheum in Boston. The Completion Backward Principle tour. What a wild night.
Ah the Rorer 714 costumes, I was turned on to the Tubes in 1973 by my sister who had just rushed USC. Seems Quay hit the spot. Jimmy page had a Rorer 714 T-shirt he used to wear. I think you had to be living and loving life in the 70s to understand the reference.
Wpod! For life... I love this man I saw them 14 times and even with security at one of their shows thank you fee prairie Prince Ray styles Bill spudnick Spooner
I was 19 had a broken arm and leg on the right hand side this song kept me going gavel me the energy to heal especially when my mother pinched my crutches still hopped everywhere Thank you tubes gave me energy when I needed it most
So, the audio is from the What Do You Want From Live album, recorded in 1977 at the Hammersmith Odeon, London. I assume that this video was shot around that time, but the editor of this vid cut away when the vocals didn't match. Additionally, the tacked-on ending isn't from the WDYWFL recording.
Yes I thought there was something fishy. Well spotted! The show is the BBC's flagship rock music show, at which IIRC Rick Anderson's bass connection broke.
Why not 114 million views. I grew up in the 80's. They had bigger hits but this is one of my favorite Tubes song, sushi girl.... Never saw this live performance before. Love it.
I so wish I could see once the entire original footage without the studio parts from their 80's video... But they still remain, for me at least, "The Number One Group In The World" !!!!
Not only were these guys totally insane and out of control, but the song compositions were brilliant. It would be a mistake to dismiss them as all flash, this was just their first big hit. Check out the Completion Backwards Principle and Young and Rich. Amazing music.
Nice to see you guys at the top of your game Rick is such a cutie.... and Sputnik too!!! 🙋🏻♀️😍😘 Need footage of you guys at the celebrity theater in Phoenix billed as the radar men from Uranus 😂😂😂
A dude named Jim used to come back n smoke pot out of a soda can while i cooked at a pizza bar he gave me a burnt cd of the Tubes id never heard of them b4 that Iljim passed away didnt know him well but just commenting in tribute to a dude i once knew who loved the Tubes
The new Gens think that they are trend setters when you see them diing what has been done over 40 years ago. I fking laugh Lady Gaga as talented as she is musicaly people like her... Hold Fee 🍻
F’n SEVENTIES OR WHAAAT? Sorry kids - you missed it ! Leaving the house at 6:45 pm and ANYTHING coukd happen. No helicopter parents, no cell phones, no 13 texts saying “are you here yet???!!” We just f’n showed up.
imho this is when they were best : 1974 - around 1983 . Great Rock, fun and satire . You gotta watch their 1975-76 New Years concert at Winterland SF . The video is crappy but the content is so entertaining . i think its still up on youtube , dunno .

The world would be a sad place without The Tubes.

Oh wow I didn’t know celebrity theatre was there in the 70s
I saw them in late 70's ! At The Celebrity Treatre. I agree. The BEST! They gave all they had, yet they never got the "recognition" people like us know they deserve. That's also why they're so cool. Tubes ROCK!
Where these guys called "the Beans" before the Tubes?
Was my first concert in 1974 still remember it as the best I have ever experienced
Saw this Era show in spring and summer of '77, at The Whiskey in Hollywood and an outdoor concert in LA. They were fabulously entertaining and the music still holds up today! Fee Waybill really was a massively underrated talent!
Man we listened to this shit constantly when I was a kid, love this band.
Me too, I identified with their message in this song.
One of the best series of rock riffs ever thrown together. I love the stops and starts in this song, that's what makes rock music hit and roll. Wow, the vocals are top flight on this performance. This is the Tubes original band in top form! One of my top 3 favorite bands of all time! And they still tour to this day. Catch 'em if you can!
I saw them about 10yrs. ago in a small club up front and I agree, They blew me away. Fee is such a cool guy, and hung around after the show and talked with us and signed an autograph for me . The Tubes deserve to be recognized as one of the best rock bands in the world .
How awesome that Fee rubbed shoulders with concert goers. Where did you see The Tubes play?
Devo, Gary Numan and the band and The Tubes if I only picked three!
The Tubes! Saw them a dozen times in SF who could forget the spectacle on new years eve at Winterland long way from when they formed merging 2 bands 72? the beans and ? good times Winterland Rocks
See them live in Essen in 1978 . Never See this before and I will never forget ! Outrageous , Gretchen, crazy, geil!!!
Saw the Tubes & the Infamous Quay Lude live a number of times back in the late 70s/early 80s - great concerts every time.. Being from LA, I use to tell people that this song was the theme song for Los Angeles back then as well
Saw them for Tubes World Tour at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia and it is one of the most unforgettable shows I have ever seen, blew me away.
It'll take some doing for any rock performer in history to ever outdo Fee Waybill for sheer arrogant risk-taking brilliance
Yeah ! One of the best front man in the world.
Think Frank Zappa! Some of his musicians toured with Fee and the Tubes.
Nikki Sixx and numerous other hair metal band members need to return Fee’s wardrobe. 😂
Never seen Rammstein live then?
@@mikedickens7957 Rammstein has no sense of humor just like Kraftwerk. A Krautcrap Metal Band! The Scorpions are next in Line. 😂

I was listening to this band when I was in high school. Unbelievably nice!
I was the only one who listened to this music in my school in Japan.
This is still the best rock band I have ever heard.
I was the first kid to carry a one speaker Sanyo tape recorder to school...
hated Fleetwood Mac...
& then they outlawed boomboxes.
- I thought when you were high in school. 😎
Eighter way, good for you man. Incredibly coool, that's for sure! 💥
What do you want from live..great live lp(s)
Man I miss shit like this, I really do! ❤
It's just the everchanging face of Folk Music -
Hahaha lol!
One of my all time favourite bands..... wow...!!!
An amazing band to see live.. I saw them in 78 in Birmingham England
It was 81 I was there too
One of the best acts live, hands down! 😎
I would have to agree! In a small venue-Phx's Celebrity Theatre was so acoustically sound and up close seating, Ticket$ were under $15 .Good times.
Another great “why have one drummer when two will do?” band along with GratefulDead & DoobieBrothers.
Every cover band did this song in the 70s what memories
One of my favourite live performers next to Frank Zappa. High energy. Excellent musicians!!
Saw them perform this on Swedish television ( of all places) 4/1979. They were wearing the Rorer 714 costumes....classic stuff.

Extraordinary band - such a sustainable song.
Fifty years later it is utterly fresh!
I was 19 had a broken arm and leg on the right hand side this song kept me going gavel me the energy to heal especially when my mother pinched my crutches still hopped everywhere
Thank you tubes gave me energy when I needed it most
Lol
Hello, I am glad that someone thought film this song from their album. I have not heard this in decades.
Saw the Tubes at Hanover in Germany 1979. By far the best music experience ever!!

I'm 62 and have been to many concerts. The tubes were the most entertaining show I've ever seen.
I'm 61 years old and I know for a fact that this is a true story
I have been in a few mosh pits over the years. This would take moshing to a new level🤘🇳🇿
Brilliant version of a banging tune. Love this track.
If you take the right party supplies to a Tubes concert ? It's a very relaxing time !
Saw them in 78 at the Apollo Manchester - great show!
I so wish I could see once the entire original footage without the studio parts from their 80's video... But they still remain, for me at least, "The Number One Group In The World" !!!!
This is Dan Quayle's fave tune and when he wasn't lecturing the U.S. about morality he was lobbying to get The Tubes into the hall of fame.
Damn straight, he was!
Not only were these guys totally insane and out of control, but the song compositions were brilliant. It would be a mistake to dismiss them as all flash, this was just their first big hit. Check out the Completion Backwards Principle and Young and Rich. Amazing music.
Seen em in Milwaukee numerous times in the mid 70s...back when he was Fee Trenchmouth!
Love this! I was 18, what a band!!
Nice to see you guys at the top of your game
Rick is such a cutie.... and Sputnik too!!!
🙋🏻♀️😍😘
Need footage of you guys at the celebrity theater in Phoenix billed as the radar men from Uranus 😂😂😂
An awesome song from my childhood.
Anyone else have a WPOD t shirt?? Easily the favorite from the time - and even better in concert! Epic.
I was at his concert and he came over to me and sat on my lap and was singing to me Fee the lead singer that you see now .
I was mesmerized by the innovative sounds of the tubes during the mid 70's saw them performing life in a secluded gay bar in the heart of Boston MA.
Has to be one of the best rif ever
Awesome color and audio!
Ah. The good days.
👍the Sound of my youth - in Germany someone knew " TV Glotzer" - a Cover Version by Nina Hagen Band ( ....later called "Spliff" !) first
"Where'd you get it?" "You gave it to us!" TT's, scoring bonus points for accuracy.
One of the Vaudevillians of Music Videos. Making music videos before the cameras were in front of them to record.
Saw there Show in Munich/Germany . It was the hottest show on earth!!!
Time is cruel. It goes so fast but you never realise it. Would it not for recording music we would have such a sad existence.🎵🎵🎵❤🌈
Fuck Me !! These guys are sick and I know I have heard them for years but right now I am really paying attention and they are really kicking my ass.
Best version
Thanks! Tinja&Markku
A dude named Jim used to come back n smoke pot out of a soda can while i cooked at a pizza bar he gave me a burnt cd of the Tubes id never heard of them b4 that

The new Gens think that they are trend setters when you see them diing what has been done over 40 years ago. I fking laugh Lady Gaga as talented as she is musicaly people like her... Hold Fee 🍻
I remember playing this song on a JukeBox in a bar somewhere over 40 years ago and people were like…..What The Hell?
"WPOD": It's funny because it's true. One of the greatest songs ever, deadly accurate and "dope" AF in fiery perpetuity.
Mingo Lewis was awesome. But Prairie Prince is the BOMB!!
Great underrated band
Quay Lude!!!!!! A damn genius!!!
That’s Quay Lewd. Get it? 🙄
F’n SEVENTIES OR WHAAAT? Sorry kids - you missed it ! Leaving the house at 6:45 pm and ANYTHING coukd happen. No helicopter parents, no cell phones, no 13 texts saying “are you here yet???!!”

The punkiest AND the dopiest.
I'm pretty sure that, up until the "choir", they're lip syncing to the version of WPOD off their "What Do You Want From Live" album.
my life in the mid 70s,
How f*cking cool was this band..
I'm guesinn very few of us are left. ... then again, I'm not from Hollyweird so who knows but your hairdresser.

Real LIVE. 2 drummers.
Every moment I go outside I see idiots trying to poison me. My ass cheeks are impervious bronze.

You watch the TV and you pay attention. DON'T FALL ASLEEP.
Riff in chorus reminds of molly hatchet
R3D, IS it WHISKEY man your thinking. I hear it also. What about the solo. The backing rhythm was showing its stuff.
First Stagediver?
洋楽ミックスリスト聞いてたら不意に日本語流れてきてとてもびっくりしたのですが……
あきのテトロンはテイジンです……どういう意味?
My question exactly.
