I'm an old 80s drummer....so this music is not quite my cup of tea.....but I REALLY love watching you play....I'm just simply amazed at how fast, clean, precise and oh my goodness.....those feet...... I can't applaud you as much as is deserved! Peace brother
Nicely stated. Dude’s a master of his craft. Rates at the very top of the extreme metal genre which is packed with phenomenal drummers. David can play anything too.
I live for the little subtle flourishes David adds to these Grossmann era tracks, and seeing David's technique and how he plays certain parts is like watching pure art 🙌
The fact this extraordinary human is also in the most soul enriching field as a teacher & father/husband, his drumming is amazing & he truly is a natural. All hard work pays off!🤘🥁👊
That’s a nice thing to hear, he seems like a great guy and man can he slay those drums! Been watching him progress for a few years and as a drummer myself, his skills are borderline superhuman.
@@zachscott4867 most definitely bro. Listening to him talk about his approach to being away from drumming at times due to family & chosen career, you relate to him because you know in your heart you'll always be tearing drums up. But, loved ones come first. Total down to earth, everyday dude. 👊🥁🤘🥁🥁
I liked before it even started, this album dropped and me and my band in high school lost our fucking minds. We dead ass progressed as a band by learning this song as a band. Grossman taught me so much through traveling the same roads through his drum parts. They take so much understanding and where your hands need to be in two seconds as well as on the other side of the kit a half note after that. He's insanely talented. But so are you, you handsome devil! Great video!
@@RTSRAZORBACK I don’t mind the kick effect. You need to be able to discern the intricacies of the double bass work in this track, so it’s crisp ... no doubt (but still has enough power imo). I feel ya though. I don’t believe Dave has ever employed the same trigger effect on his kicks more than once. Edit : The dude has metahuman skills on a kit.
@@adrianfuentes8423 Word. Nailing this prolly was a breeze for David. I fully dig Sebastian’s cover of this track too though. Trippy how different they are, yet both renditions sound almost identical. The masters always add their own flavour without altering the track.
Hey David, great playing on this one. That fill at 3:45 made me rewind a couple times, sounds nasty! I really dig those small changes to the Hannes original tracks.
That section at 1:57 must be 50 times easier to play when your right foot is that fuckin good! Just keeping pace with your right foot and adding those little complimentary notes in is just *chef kiss*
@@Compendyum Difference being that David makes it look effortless and seem completely unchallenging. I love Sebastian Lanser’s version too, but this annihilates Alex Rudinger’s cover. Edit : David’s one of the best.
Back to floating finger I see! I remember you saying you had switched to push pull since it doesn't require as much maintenance. Love your versatility you're in the elite echelon to me keep up the great work
Descomunal baterista... un Grosso... genio... siempre prolijo y preciso... gracias por tu arte... saludos desde Argentina... Santiago del Estero el culo del mundo...😊
I'm a drummer as well. But not nearly at this caliber. But what's funny is we can remember 10,000 beats but we couldn't tell you or remember 7 digits of someone's phone number.
Great work. Respect for the 1 foot blasts. You sound much better than a lot of death metal drummers at shows do, whose techniques (specifically with bass drums) fall to pieces
Word. That’s what I dig about his style. He’s insanely fast, clean, accurate and metronomic, yet employs out of the ordinary combinations and even flam fills at times.
Hannes Grossman was the drummer for Necro at the time of Epitaph and for this particular Obscura album as well.... I might be wrong but if I'm correct that might be why they're similar haha

People who don’t know drumming in general can’t see how incredible this is

Tbh i prefer sebastian's version. I like more his style than david's one
Literally my favorite drummer
Never clicked so fast
Cheers from Trinidad my dude ❤

@@markavery6713 Yeah ... he’s a super cool human with metahuman drumming skills. Austria and Germany breed some killer drummers.
David pound by pound one of the greatest extreme metal drummers of all time.
WORD.
...When you play mostly by feeling but the obscurity of timings force you to focus...
Insane milestone! Congrats!!
Decided to check out this guy because of a reaction video... It's nuts how much talent is out there that somehow manages to stay out of the limelight
Was it El Estepario's reaction? You should also check out Obscura's previous drummer, Sebastian Lanser. Both incredible.
@@pheeler42 it totally was... Good call!
And thanks for the info... Will check those too
Truth be told, this man is a huge inspiration to all of us drum lovers.
Vielen vielen Dank David, es ist jedesmal eine Freude deine Videos und Playthroughs zu sehen, zu hören und zu fühlen. Großes Vorbild!!😍

So interesting to watch David effortlessly attack this track after seeing Sebastian’s awesome version.
Edit : That snare tone is to die for.
That snare tone reminds me of hypocrisy
Shame about the sound of the bass drum though

Effortlessly is spot on. Sebastian seems to put a lot of effort to nail the song, but Diepold is not even trying.

Absolute beast. Amazing performance as always David.
So relaxed and controlled. That was mind blowing!
One of my absolute favorite songs! Your blast beats are so solid!
Finally my favourite Obscura's song of all time, awesome job man you nailed it!
I tryied this song so many time for a pour result... you're awsome! thanks

I really like your technique, especially the independence in each hand.
Congratulations !
Esse Baterista, é extremamente técnico e seguro. Cada toque dele é bem preciso. Sou fã desse cara. 👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤❤
Just badass perfective talent. Admire it!!🥁💯😎
So smooth so accurate! Now is my favorite drummer!!
Babe wake up, David Diepold dropped a new video
My favorite Obscura song, the drum is absolutely insane on this one.
You f***ing animal DUDE. Incredible to see you play it so flawlessly
it's perfect, thank you David 🤘🏻
Best snare tone I've heard in a while
Absolutely phenomenal, as always👊👊
Absolutely fantastic!
I see you switched back to finger control on blasting.
You're talking about the left hand I assume? Didn't he previously do more of a push-pull with the left hand?
@@tshddx i guess it depends on the speed he's playing
I think it's just an in between speed. If it was faster he would most likely switch back to push pull.
That song has not enough speed for push pull technique.
Was super bummed you weren't on tour with the rest of the band, that was my primary reason for wanting to go to the show.

Animal demais David! Performance de qualidade com muita técnica e tranquilidade!
from drum cover to drum playthrough still here will forever be to see those nasty fills and dyanamics

Damn, probbaly some of the tightest drumming out there in the metal scene. Shit was super clean.

Amazing as slays
It reminds me Necrophagist drum style and also the guitar tone and the complex bass line
Its very good!
The start is so similar with epitaph (the song)
Hannes Grossman was the drummer for Necro at the time of Epitaph and for this particular Obscura album as well.... I might be wrong but if I'm correct that might be why they're similar haha
And unless I'm mistaken guitarist Christian Munzer? (Spelling is probably way off) also joined Obscura at that time as well
