The Pere Marquette 1225 Berkshire which inspired the movie Polar Express, the Little River Railroad, the narrow-gauge Huckleberry Railroad northeast of Flint, the locomotives at Greenfield village, etc. It would be great if the UP Big Boy 4014 could pay us a visit.

    4:12 - this looks funny in first look, but it’s actually a maneuver to get around being stuck in the Tucson yard behind a freight being put together. 45 minutes lost in running out to the next switch as opposed to gawd knows how long in the yard. Fortunately M2 was clear for a good while. A freight actually did come in during the stop, about twenty minutes in.
    Sad day, too. Creamsicle lost her crow and dismembered hand.

    • @wyldemusick
      @wyldemusick Год назад +4

      It got much worse today. #4 was very late and ended up blocking the crossing. Lots of people in town, nobody waiting, so dozens of people walked down the platform and crossed the tracks right behind the train. Nobody wanted to go the extra few feet to the other crossing.
      On top of that there was a medical emergency with a boarding passenger.

    • @wyldemusick
      @wyldemusick Год назад +14

      What happened (I was in the chat when this was explained) is that M1 was blocked by a big freight being assembled, so, when it looked like M2 and the western switch were clear for a while #1 was switched to M2, bypassed the Tucson station, switched to M1 and backed up with a conductor riding the rear door. A 45 minute delay, but otherwise #1 might have been stuck in the Tucson yard for hours.
      Flagstaff has regular stops on M2, meanwhile. They load from one or another of the crosswalks in that case. Tucson doesn’t have that.
