I had the third bolt, but still couldn’t get the cowling off. It was just stuck to the deck adjustment rod. So I took off the back tire and got it done pretty easy.
My plastic cowling doesn't come off, even after removing the deck raise/lower knob. Anyone know where there are additional attachments? There's nothing immediately apparent, but it feels like it's solidly attached toward the front
Yes, I recently bought another John Deere , 737 this time, and you are right, there is an extra bolt up in the front, underneath, and you have to lay on the ground with a flash light to see it. you will need (2) 5/8" gear wrenches to get it off. It might take metric, but 5/8" wrench worked for me.
When I turned the key to start the engine nothing happened or sometimes I would have to find a special position and hold the key in that position for the engine to turn over.
Very much appreciate this video. I now have the confidence to replace my ignition switch. I have been starting it with a screwdriver long enough because the key broke off inside.
thank you. mine just fell through. btw, same weather here today

good thinking !
How do you get the yellow deck rise and lower dial off
There is actually an allen screw that keeps the knob on. It is metric 3mm. I seemed to have every size but that one and had to buy a new set.
Ho do I remove the big yellow button that puts up and down the blades, it’s really hard and I need to take the black box to change the solenoid thanks
someone else answered that it comes off with an allen wrench

Glad it helped
Is there a trick on getting the deck knob off by chance?
You need an allen wrench to undo the screw that holds the knob on.
