  • In a dynamic exploration of the challenges and opportunities facing African youth in the transition from school to the workforce, the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) hosted a thought-provoking Intergenerational Dialogue on School-to-Work Transition Schemes.
The dialogue delved into the critical role of School-to-Work Transition Schemes in equipping young Africans with the practical skills and work experience needed to thrive in the job market. While various initiatives, including internships and apprenticeships, have been launched by African governments and multinational organizations, challenges such as underfunding, poor implementation, and political interference persist, hindering their effectiveness.
Led by young African voices and experts, the dialogue fostered collaboration across generations to brainstorm solutions and enhance the efficiency of School-to-Work transition schemes. From exploring challenges in policymaking to proposing strategies for skill enhancement in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) context, the dialogue aimed to address key aspects of skill acquisition, employment, and youth optimization.
    🎯 Objectives Included:
    1. Enhancing Skills and Sustainability of School-to-Work Transition Programs
    2. Enhancing School-to-Work Transition Schemes for Youth in the Creative Industry
    3. Enhancing School-to-Work Transition Schemes for Youth in Informal Sectors/Youth not in Education, Employment, and Training
Join us as we continue the conversation and work towards empowering African youth for a prosperous future.
