Even though you didn't fast draft your book, writing it is such a huge accomplishment and sticking with it for that long is a huge accomplishment on it's own. I only try to fast draft because I have adhd and consistency has been something I've struggled to do my entire life, the fact you could stick to it and make it a habit and push yourself to continue like that says a lot. Great job!

Girl you're speaking my language!! It's so funny to hear how we have basically the same writing strengths and weaknesses. It was very assuring to see that someone who seems to have a similar writing process to me finished a draft because I'm drafting 3 different projects at a snail's pace lol. But I know one day they'll be finished and it'll have all been worth it. Love the book title by the way!
Endings are the first thing that come to mind for me, its the middle that I struggle with so much! And because of the fact that I seem to fail to think of a middle I continually fail to write a book. I've written 2 books in my like, book 1 was 25k 😅 and book 2 was a cowriting project. So to me, I feel like I've never written a "real" novel on my own.

I’m only 42% through my first draft, but I’m definitely seeing some very similar weaknesses like the flowery prose (run-ons) 😂 Love these videos so much and I’m excited to follow your journey! The Emotion Thesaurus by Angela Ackerman is really good for learning emotions and body language. She has other thesaurus' that are really good. She has an Urban Setting Thesaurus too.

i started writing my first draft 5 days ago and i was talking to my dad and saying that i was discouraged because i had to restart and all he said was "all you need is a bad, almost unreadable first draft finished" -- that helped me alot
Writing a book IS friekin hard! Especially with so many priorities pulling us in polarizing directions and we don't have a lot of time to dedicate to just sitting and writing.

Isn't a leisurely drafting process part of the pantsing arena? That's not a rhetorical question by the way, I just don't know. But one thing I do know, the revisions are DEFINITELY where cause and effects kicks in. Creating IS spiritual. :)
good q! maybe that is a correlation, not sure tbh. i def did move faster on the chapters i had more notes for. i agree i think revision will really smooth out the story arc! excited to see that come to fruition
I'll allow the jaw thing - Something about a man with a strong jaw LOL. "He smirked" is SUPER overused in a lot of books - where it feels like that is the only thing the male character is capable of.
