Adam, I love your videos! They are so well done and informative. I was reading a blog by a local retired ecologist in my area and he mentioned a public forest that is very unknown to about 99% of people in my city so of course I had to check it out. I went in the evening during golden hour..it was magical. As I was leaving I saw a dead tree and something told me to go to it, and as soon as I got over there my eyes went straight to the ground where I noticed...morels!!! I have always wanted to find morels but they remained so elusive. It was truly a gift from nature. I harvested just one... to sample :)
Echoing what others have said here, your videos are truly special, Adam. They put me in a peaceful, inspired place. Thank you for the work and play that you do!
Your enthusiasm, sincerity and extensive botanical knowledge is infectious and inspirational! Thanks so much for sharing your view of the world underfoot and overhead...
Hi Adam, thank you so kindly for your time and patience for bringing us viewers the knowledge that we can take out into the woods and explore. Thumbs up to you. Thanks again.
I really enjoy your videos. I took an undergrad class on plant taxonomy as an elective in the early 70s and fell in love with it. You never fail to expand my understanding and knowledge. Keep up the great work. Cheers from E. Tenn. R.
Beautiful video, loved the bonus critter footage in between scenes🐝🌱🦌 your videos are wonderfully educational and beautifully shot. Would love to see more wildflower videos! 😊
Hi Adam :-D I love Love LOVE your channel! I've learned a great deal from you in the past few years, and I hope you continue with your channel forEVER! :-D Thank you SO VERY MUCH for freely sharing your wealth of knowledge with us!!! God bless you!!!
Fantastic video as always. Nature is always a wonderful thing. I think the symbiotic relationship between plants and fungus is fascinating. I'd like to see more on this.
This is the best channel. And all the backlogged episodes. Im already addicted to nettles now. I have added a fresh new discovery of edible joy almost daily. What a treasure to discover...
Oh, two thumbs up for using cornucopia and using it correctly. :-) Up in our area of PA we do have such a diverse range of plant life, love to wander through Moraine and North Country Trail, along Slippery Rock Creek as well as the hidden gems found through Kennerdell. I hear that even south of here in North Park there are some gems as well.
Excellent presentation Adam along with searching for wild edibles and mushrooms it's great to see the flowers also and have a background on what they are thanks again
Hi Adam! I love finding the Showy Orchis in our local decidious woods, a real halmark of spring for us. I noticed that the nicest Showys are growing in very closely to Morels..so do they must share a simular nutritional partnership? If they are in close proximinity I leave the Morel. The Showy population has expanded over the years. Love the tresures observed when walking in the woods! Blessings!
My wife and I absolutely love and look forward to your fascinating jam packed fact spilling over intuitive color words . You're wonderful. A beautiful presence. Live long and prosper. You're my favorite top 1 video creator on YT. So much information of orchids I never bothered about. You make me enjoy listening to what's out there and why and how. Thank you for taking the time to share your wealth of knowledge.
During the spring and summer I often find toads on my driveway when I leave for work in the morning. I walk to work, so no running over the toads. All amphibians are awesome.
Spring is a sacred time in the woods. I wouldn't miss it! Down here in Georgia, we are about six weeks ahead of you up there in P.A. summer heat has set in after a wonderfully mild spring. Now I hibernate until fall.
It is, of course, your passion about your subject that makes your videos so enjoyable to watch....also..something I had to get used to...your almost constant smile. I really enjoy your videos. I live in NEPA on the edge of a 1500 foot ridge in the eastern edge of the :Poconos.
Excellent video Adam! Your knowledge of the plant kingdom is truly amazing. Orchids are the most advanced Monocots & my favorite plants to grow. I have kept many species over the years & the miniature epiphytic species are my favorite. Just an amazing group of plants. Thanks for your videos.........
So happy that I found your channel Adam!!! I’m from the northeast as well, and share the same passion about the outdoors and everything in it. I have had so much fun watching your videos and learning more than ever where I live and what I see each day. I can only wish to offer others the degree of knowledge you are giving away for free on your channel. Thank you for everything you do and god bless :)
Awesome talk. I was walking in a wood in the UK talking about orchid species of which their are 52. Apparently they like soils like limestone. Good going. Mark
I just found actual wild strawberries at the farm I work on in Maryland. I managed to transplant them into my garden while they were flowering and they still produce for me and had delicious little red berries. They were on a spot that gets mowed so I wanted to save them. I got like 20 plants, never been so stoked in my life. I really want to find some wintergreen
Another good video. That scenery is great. Thanks to another of your videos, I was able to properly identify some oyster mushrooms that turned out to be quite tasty. Time for me to hit the woods!
As a hiker, instead of looking out for views, my eyes are glued to the ground looking for cool mushrooms, non chlophyll type plants and rare orchids. That excites me more than a view of mt rainer.
Great job on the Showy Orchis. Rare here in Illinois but i know of spots where it grows. You forgot to mention the one thing that really stands out for this plant. The fragrance of the blossom is intoxicating. Very pleasant.
i DON'T drive either>>so i understand…BUT lucky for "me" i have woods around & a "little patch of my own"……….My only SANITY🤪🥶😱 if ya can "call IT that!" ☮︎ ☮︎ ☮︎ ☮︎ ☮︎ ☮︎
Hey Adam, I really enjoy your videos. They are very informative and I have learned quite a bit from watching you and your videos. Idk if you harvest it or not, but I was wondering if you could possibly make a video on ginseng. Again, thanks for being a great teacher.
Thank you for all the info about these two beautiful plants. I just recently found both of these in a Pittsburgh area park! Not the one you're in though. Do you ever say what park you are at? Great job!
If you have them in W Penn, can you do a video on a plant called pearly everlasting? I recently did my first foraging class, and the instructor pointed them out to us. Upon googling them, I think my instructor may have fumbled a little, because the google images look nothing like the plant I was shown beyond the leaves being fuzzy on the bottom.
Thanks for your informative videos. Found Showy orchids this spring for1st time. Also saw gaywings, Polygala paucifolia? Any cool info on those. Love your channel.
We have a couple of different orchids here in the Appalachians of Western Virginia, lady slippers and also referred to as Moccasin Flower. I’ve found both the yellow and pink varieties while looking for morels, and find them to be simply beautiful. I always think that they seem too complex, somehow too outrageous to be growing miles into the woods on some mountain instead of a botanical garden being well tended to. They’re like a Ferrari amongst the dandelions.
Hi Adam, I love your channel very much. Have learning a lot from all of them. I'm interested in all type of fungi, mushrooms, parasite and wild plants. But I'm living in the south of Asia and we don't have any mushroom hunting nor mushroom foraging tour around the city. But I definitely see death cap hang around in the wood sometimes. And people always ask if they were eatable mushroom. Thanks god, people in my city are too chicken to try any new things. I notice and recognised them through watching your channel. But still, I wasn't 100% sure! As I'm not quite sure how wide they spread in this planet. But if an mushroom expert like you could do a few asian mushroom/wild plant tutorial here on your youtube channel, that would be very much helpful and knowledgeable. Hope you won't hate too much of my humble suggestions. Well anyhow, keep the good work!
Noah Redmond Check our Maritime Gardener recent video with Dr. Lloyd. She is a professor that is studying Lyme disease. It is more focused on Atlantic Canada, but has lots of useful information that would apply to you as well.
I sure wish those giving a thumbs down would explain why. A video has to really bad or provide misinformation or have more than 3 ads before I give it a thumbs down. AND I leave a reason as a comment as feedback. A thumbs down on one of Adam's videos can only be envy.
@@paulatwood9794 Thanks. I can't find ANY info on the internet that answers this question. Honestly, I don't think there's ever been any real studies done on it. But you'd think the mushrooms would be less nutritious since it can't get all those nutrients the tree provided before death.

Hey, I trade you a WHOLE bunch of Blue Bead Lily seeds for a test tube full of Showy Orchid starts and some fungal soil for them (as long as they will catch here in central New Hampshire). Course, Blue Beads are poisonous (but pretty).
Thanks Adam. You have one of my favorite channels on RUclips. I'm also in Pennsylvania and I learned a lot from you.
