In the above demonstration I see that when he set the time at o'clock the bells only rang six times where it should have been eight times for 4 o'clock. That is my problem: the amount of times the bell is ringing is not in accordance with the time. For instance, mine is now ringing six times for 4 o'clock when it should be eight bells...how can I correct this problem?
Hi Charles, if you are having trouble with your clock, please contact Weems & Plath directly. This clock does have a warranty and we will repair it. Call us at 1-800-638-0428 or email support@weems-plath.com.
We had the same problem It solved it self when some idiot winded the key to far and the clock stopped. We had to manually unwind it, and finally when we had unwind it the time and the bellstrokes were matching. I followed a schedule from Wikipedia with the time and chimes. Now we are unwinding the strikes so that we hopefully can get it to work properly again. Have you tried to eh wind it backwards? Maybe that will do it if you don't want to wait until it unwinds completely.
I got a Schatz Royal Mariner 8-day ship clock from eBay and it chimes only 6 times at 12:00, but 8 times at 2:00. I pushed the hour hand backward (counterclockwise) 2 hours and problem resolved!! People tell you don't manually move the hour hand... BS. If you have disassembled a clock you will know this is completely wrong. In normal situation yes you do not push hour hand but when it is wrong (in your and my case) or not pointing perfectly, SIMPLY PUSH THE HOUR HAND and problem resolved in 10 seconds. This will NOT damage the clock!!! (Why? the hour hand is on the axle by friction!)
Good day I have an Atlantic ship bell. Need to find the key winder and the minute hand with screw that’s missing. Any info to where I may find such replacements. Thanks
Hello. We do not sell parts, such as mechanisms or hands, for our instruments but you are welcome to send your clock to us and one of our skilled technicians would be happy to repair it for you. However, we do sell the key to our Atlantis 8-Day Ship's Bell Clock on our website: www.weems-plath.com/Replacement-Key-for-8-Day-Wind-Clock To send your clock in for repair, please follow the instructions listed on our website: www.weems-plath.com/service-and-repair Thank you.
All you would need to do to correct the problem is to move the hour hand to the correct number that you heard it strike. You can move the hour hand either direction without damaging the clock.
Rarezee Well that’s good to know, but they’re still not set correctly in the video. 😜. I actually wrote a little program that rings the bells on my computer. It’s not as quaint, but it’s cheap, and it works.
Hi Peter. I have one of these that was given to me as a gift. It is an old one but essentially the same as the clock you have there in the video. I cannot seem to wind it since after one quarter turn there is heavy resistance to the key turning in a clockwise direction and I don’t want to force this in case it breaks. Do you know why this could be happening?

04:00 (and 16:00) should be EIGHT BELLS! (2:36 in the video). Those clocks are SNAFU!

My bell clock it keeps loosing time .
The bells did not strike the proper number of times for the time (0400 or 1600) in the set up demo. Therefore not a very good set up demonstration.
why 8 day when a week has 7 days
👍✌️👌❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
