Wow I feel like I'm the only one who us digging the steam punk gui. I think it's great and very well laid out. So many people bashing because it's just a bunch of individual plugs rolled into one with less control but thats what a vocal plug is. I like having something else to reach for in case my standard individual ssl go to plugs just ain't doing it for me. Why not. It's not trying to be a replacement for your whole toolkit just another tool. I feel like theres alot of armchair professionals on here bashing it just to bash it. I hate humanity when I read youtube comments sometimes.

I love that waves gets the actual designers of a plugin to introduce it to the world. Doesn't seem to be a big need for this, but I will check it out. Let's find a way to use it for hip hop vocals
Did you find it worked well on hip hop vocals??
@@em-jw8291 can't remember but I can say that I don't use it in my mixes. But everything is subjective try it out for yourself. It might work for you

Nawh this nice my homie just put me on if you on some melodic vibey light autotune it mix pretty suave. I'm still learning but definitely a game changer!

This demo is a gem. He gives away so much quality information, and when I look at what we get for the money all dialed in with Vig's signature specs the plugin seems like a good value. And why not have fun with the design? The steampunk look is pretty great. What I'd like to know is if I can get away with using this plug-in in 10.6. I've done that with several other Waves plug-ins. This one looks to require 10.8.5... so I'm not sure if I should get it.

I just downloaded the demo. I don't think I personally would make this my go-to vocal plugin (just personal taste) but this is an AMAZING drum plugin. The chicken beak EQs... the compression... the tube or solid state options, really all of the controls can help the drums cut through with much more life and color. A very nice surprise to stumble across a vocal plugin that's secretly a GREAT drum plugin.

Hi Butch Vig! I really wanted Eddie Kramer drums for my free plugin but it wasn’t part of the buy 2 get 1 deal. So I got BVV instead. And it rocks. Love the steampunk interface and I love how it adds character to vocals and guitars and other stuff even more. Great addition to my collection 🤟🏼🤙🏽🌻

There really needs to be a volume / mix knob for the distortion output so we can balance the main vocals and the distortion vocals.

It looks like that robot from the movie Wall-E . The meters are the eyes if you look at it that way.
Something to keep in mind for the non-professionals...the tracks were recorded INCREDIBLY well to begin with. The plugin is great and I love the interface. Its beyond the scope of WAVES but I would love a tutorial on how the tracks were recorded. Adding EQ and compression, etc, with the plugin or without is great, but as they say, you can't polish a turd.
I love this plugin for the Tube distortion but the rub is that it's a CPU hog. Is there a low-CPU alternative to this plugin? A tube saturation plugin that sounds similar?
Overall it seems like a great go-to pluggin for upping the excitement on an average vocal. All the tools you'd typically use huddled together in one unit minus the spatial. I'm a fan of the UI. Very spaced out and detailed while also being "mood-setting". I'm sure it reminds the clients that you "are" doing something fantastic there on the computer thing..

I used to work at a studio that had ALL of the Waves plugins (and a ton of others). When I started my own place I bought the Fab Filter bundle which gives me pretty much everything I need.
BUT., we are human and need to explore so recently I've been buying (or finding free) plugins here and there.
Just got it (again)...loved it, still love it. Really EASY way to dial in a great vocal !!
The ONLY thing that's a bummer is that the GUI size ca't be adjusted...but that's just life. I think as time goes on, all new plugins will come with that feature.

Peter Savad well clearly he have already tested which settings will sound good before making the video.
And the focus midband compressor thing could really use its own volume knob aswell so you can pull it down a bit to brevent the vocal to sound like a voice over. sure the pluging may be a neat thing to play around with but personally i'd go with seperate plugins for each feature i need so i have more control over the outcome.
Yep, this plugin seems a little gimmicky, not just the look of it. Waves is marketing to amateurs that think a big name and some presets will make their shitty recordings sound professional. Saying you'd rather use separate plugins to get your sound shows me you actually know what you're doing. Not a good look for Waves. They need to get more inventive with new plugs, not market to noobies.

And it's quite amazing how good some of the free plugins can be. I don't want to talk bad about waves since they have made some really good sounding plugins. But it gets a bit tiresome when so many plugins have to look like robotic space ship alien super future tech tools instead of a clean simple UI. A thing that many don't seem to think about is that the visual design choice of the user interface of plugins and daw´s will influence how you percieve the sound and outcome of your mix when its not just a clean basic minimalistic UI. Because the less you see, the more you hear.
FreeDooMusic Things that i like to do when i set up a reverb is to find a picture of a location to match the sound of the reverb i'm trying to achieve, and also close my eyes and listen while playing around with the knobs so i see with my ears instead. the outcome is normally an IR reverb blended with an algotithmic reverb to get a more complete sound. Most of the time i tend to get lazy though and just go with something that will be good enough.

Forgive me but I would avoid this merely on the cluttered interface. Can you over a skin or toggle button to provide a clean interface?
There are like 20 different plugins inside. There's no way it will not feel cluttered when all has to fit in such small space. Design, although unusual, is actually attempt to make prolonged usage more interesting, through variety of sliders and knobs and dials. Art and color scheme is actually very good, I would just change the looks of two "motorbike" top meters, as to me they don't fit the steampunk design.

Yes, but you'll spend half of the morning figuring out how it maps. Don't map the individual Waves plugins, just map "Waveshells" from the X86/waves folder. Also, use the 64bit VST version, NOT the VST3 version. The VST3 made my Reaper crash every time.

fushapanther The technology was given away as open source. Steinberg gets no royalties. VST goes back to 1997 to the public. Also their 32bit float audio engine has no parallel.

IMO, this interface makes this plugin cumbersome, distracting, and confusing.
I believe clients would look at this as a shareware gimmick rather than a professional tool.
