Any time you weld into a sharp angle you need to keep welding 1-2 inches past the point. Any weld that finished in a “point” is a future failure point that the metal will “rip” and start an new issue you will need to fix.

Do you have any tips for spraying the POR-15 with the harbor freight gun? Did you have to thin the paint?

We used a bit higher pressure when running the gun 50-60psi. Seemed like it atomized better for us. Otherwise just spray normal like your spraying paint.
