- We found this big-ol snapping turtle this morning 6/8/11. He got into a fenced in area behind our office. Couldnt quite figure out how he got in there because all of fencing goes tight to the ground and the two gates into the area were both closed. After watching this dude for a while, we finally figured it out..
We never thought this guy could have climbed the fence to get in!!
Today I learned throughout several videos that turtles can run and climb.
they are ninjas....
*Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle music intensifies*
but, same. i was watching the turtle telephone pole one
I just learned the same today 😂😂
Turtles, despite their physique and habitat, are surprisingly great climbers
Alligator can climb too. That turtle is determined to get to his lady in pond.
Dont worry.. He's back in the pond. I was going to transplant him to the Mississippi River later that day, but he finally climbed his way out while I wasnt looking. Pretty crazy though huh? I wouldve never believed it!
You're a good man!
natural selection has created fence climbing turtles
GuyThatUhate1 Natural selection is a flawed theory just saying.

thats adaptation brother
Poor thing looks at the guy with the camera like "Oh great... you're all that I need right now"

Bro that's a snapping turtle, just one unlucky moment and there goes 50% of your hand mass.
Poor guy is trying to get to the water - very impressive effort. Hope someone helped him get there.
Fuck no those things bite you beetles song.
Dirty Rick Sanchez there’s a correct and incorrect way to pick them up.🙄

Problem is, knowing doesn't mean CAN. They're fast turtles with a decent range. You hesitate or miss when he moves or snaps, you're likely to get severe injuries.
i will help that turtle in my asian soup
that was sad seeing him fall he tried hard getting up up there lol
I really wanted to see ho was gonna get over the top lol

I thought atleast the camera man would help him over, lol
I've sure the cameraman put down his camera to help him over the fence.
@@roderickrayrutledge2740 if the camera person didn’t know how to properly handle one of those turtles they would go home with a bloody hand and the turtle would still be on this side of the fence.
It's a standard chain link fence that was used at one time to enclose a few hunting dogs. I installed it years ago. I believe it's 42" tall.. And yes, it climbed in that morning, and climbed out later that same day. All of the gates were closed and there's no place for it to go under.
@ArjenRobben Mr.Wembley Apparently you have trouble reading.
Found no girls, moved on. LOL
I see its 10Years late, but is there a way to like build a tunnel or a ramp so that these animals that arent dogs can get from one side to another?
Is there a way you could modify the fence to let the turtles in to access the water?
Yup, definitely a ninja turtle 🐢 🤣😂
Friend hollering from pond, "Dave..remember when you go over tuck your head and legs in!"
Bae: Come over
Me: I can't I transformed into a turtle and a fence is in my way

I feel so sad for the turtle. It must have been trying to climb all day. I hope you helped it over the gate!
He made it out later that day, all by himself. Just like how he got into the enclosure by climbing over the fence. See above comments.
Thanks.for the update. How long did it take that poor thing to get out? Do you know?
Damara Ross the video was taken around 8am. I went back out around 4pm and the turtle was gone. He could’ve gotten back over the fence right away. Hard to say how long it took him to get over. Could’ve just taken a few minutes if he was successful in one attempt.
Todd DeBruyn It just looked so tired trying. That’s all I was saying. I woulda helped him!
@@dlross173 well good luck with that my cousin tried to help a snapping turtle go over a fence and then he didnt have 2 fingers
Turtles are very determined
Somehow i feel this was more about a girl than a pond.
Its a zoom lense dude. I was never closer than 3-4 feet. My plan was to corral the snapper into a large garbage can so I could take him the Mississippi river after work. When I went out to the fenced enclosure later that day, he had already climbed back out and was gone. We catch usually 2-3 of these guys in our pond every summer. They arent so good with the baby ducks/geese in early summer and fish population throughout the year. So we simply trap them and relocate.
Now that’s what I called a Spider-Turtle, a turtle bitten by a spider. 🕷 🐢
Poor dude. He tried so hard.
They're difficult to help though. Long range with the neck, very fast, and they jump.
i hope you helped it to the other side!
Are you stupid?
Meghan Joiner no. why?
It's a snapping turtle
It would beat you
Josh R O B i have handled snapping turtles before. they’re actually pretty shy and can be handled safely, as long as you’re careful to stay clear of their strike zone.
Alittle help would have been nice poor baby just wanted to get to the water
latina love it’s a snapping turtle
onionlovertwinkletoe 123 “it’s a snapping turtle”, that’s such a stupid comment, they can be held correctly to where it won’t get hurt, and the person can’t get hurt. It wouldn’t kill the guy to lift it over the fence and gently drop it. The only reason they are portrayed as bad, scary monsters is because idiots mess around with them stupidly, leading to them getting bit
Riley Bauer yuh get Into it
onionlovertwinkletoe 123 bruh what are you talking about lmao
Riley Bauer it’s a meme search it up
If only we all had such determination...♥️🙏👍 Fences can't keep him from home.
if they organize and develope a taste for human flesh, we're going to be in trouble
I assume most of the people whining about the camera person not "helping the poor turtle over the fence" have no experience with snapping turtles. If you don't know how to handle them properly, then the best thing to do is leave them alone, as they can easily bite your fingers clean off if you aren't careful. It might seem ridiculous, but adult turtles are suprisingly good at climbing chain-link fences. This turtle got in by climbing the fence, and he can get back out the same way, so he will be fine.
kyle1847 one most likely it’s a she and he/she uploaded this almost acting like it’s a joke and funny. And the turtle won’t always return to the same exact pond. The person could have used a bucket.
why didn't you help him?!
because it's a snapping turtle.
I would have..i own snappers
They bite
@@picklefish74 I'm a scaredy-cat and even I know how to safely pick up a snapping turtle....especially one that's tired and worn out like that.

Btw, for the comments says that the camera person should have helped its a snapping turtle that can easily chomp off your fingers
I was the camera guy. Completely agree with you on the "chomp off the fingers" statement. Their jaws are lightning fast and ungodly strong. Ive taken 6 or so snapping turtles out of that pond in the past 15 years. They all end up being relocated to the Mississippi River.
Turtle contemplating options on other side, then gives up, totally defeated , Turtle: I'll just finish my stretch here. Oh crap! I knew i put on the wrong shell this morning, ur not gonna tell are U? I can't go back !!!!
These fences are what is making life harder for the animal population by preventing them from getting easy access to feeding grounds or water holes. Save the animals..

⚠⚠⚠⚠⚠All people saying "help"⚠⚠⚠⚠⚠:
I wanna see ya all help a deadly venomous snake from A to B with 0 experience and 0 equipment.
PLEASE educate yourselves and know the difference between "people not helping a harmless animal" vs. "people not being stupid enough to attempt handling a very very overpowered animal"
This type of snapping turtle can bite back over their back.
They are VERY heavy and lifting them when you cannot hold them properly is dangerous for you and the animal.
Wildlife experts are VERY explicit about you please staying away from them if you neither have the experience nor equipment and that you alert them instead. This case is not even such case. The turtle had no chance to get over. The grass underneath is thankfully soft and it needs to walk around.
Please do not shame people for not indulging in dangerous behaviour. Educate yourself first before criticising. This is NOT your average turtle.
"How much of that did you see" Turtle

@GREATPLAINSPKG ...Someone needs to watch Auto-Tune The News.
easier to get in without falling, because the round part is on the inside. Ironically, opposite holds true for people.
He just wants to go for a swim in that nice pond!
Yes actually. If you know how to do it right and don't just grab it, it's very safe. One hand on the rear of the carapace and one hand on the front of the carapace directly over the head in the hollow and the turtle can't reach you to bite.
He looked incredibly salty after falling over lolol
I like this video. I actually have video of my baby snapper climbing a brick wall. Rufus fell a couple of times, but he is persistent. I couldn't figure in out. I put him in square brick enclosure because I was building a raised garden. Every time I turned around her was on top of the bricks. They have twenty climbing axes, and strength of a body builder. Did you help the guy out after he fell? Funny looking out the window, and seeing that.
Fences are turtles natural predators. This is a case of the turtle overcoming all odds. A story of sheer will. Determination. Patience. And a guy with a camera.
That's technically a frog. Turtles don't climb, they swim in the ocean.
Stupidity at it's best.
You. Are. An. Idiot.
The real ninja turtle :3
a wild squirtle appeared! quick! throw your pokeball!
So this is what happens when we fence off the wildlife’s food source.
I can't believe somebody didn't help him get over the other side of the fence where the water was outweighs want to be
Sometimes I do that when I just wanna day Dream & admire the Sunset too.

I don't think this fence is three feet high. If it were, that turtle (which is a climbing turtle) couldn't get over it.

This is the real ninja turtle.
Well, he was heading in the right direction.
proof turtles are ninja
My dad didn't believe they could climb fences.
Oh dear God no ! , they've learnt to climb !!!

Damn turtle fences!!!
What will be our defence? We shall build a turtle fence!
You need to be careful because this turtle has power to snap you
@frozenhell98 Is this a TV station or something? You cant believe how many from overseas have contacted me wanting permission to play this clip. Kinda cool!
We must build a turtle fence.
it's dangerous but the turtle coupd snap onto a big enough stick then drop him over real quick while his jaws are locked but idk how he unlocks so ...gotta consult wildlife experts ...The guy stepping back .....you sir are a gentleman scholar, wtg, the turtle was able to try again but it looks like it rained-- fences are slippery in rain
"hey! i can see my house from up here!"
he was definitely trying to get to the lake by the looks of things
First alligators, now turtles?
Learning process and the turtle will eventually get over the fence.
It did.. Later that day.
Bowser can climb fences just like Mario
This is were the term "Ninja Turtles" evolved from.
That snapping turtle 🐢 fall was so sad, seeing all of it lost, sorrow and grief in this one moment of fall laying their like fail old man that lost it wife.
The problem with snapping turtles is that if you're not careful you can lose fingers or a hand. Those things are aggressive.
I instantly thought of Super Mario.
I love animals. This is cute as heck.
it would be like rlly cool if the turtle made it over the fence and I'd be like daaannnngggg thats some fine ninja turtle
If this isn’t a metaphor for determination
Could you put a hole in the fence to make it easier for wildlife to come and go?
Poor turtle. He came so far...
