Odometer Chingadero fixed! Radio knob Chingadero not quite fixed! Crusty wheel cylinder Chingaderos replaced! You are one funny Chingadero, Alec!😂 You and your back deserve a Spa Day! Another great job and video!🤙
Not sure if you fixed the radio yet Alec but you need to use electronics contact spray cleaner (not a lubricant) to take the oxidation off the potentiometer contacts. Hit me up if you need more details. It should evaporate fully and leave no residue behind.
Thanks Rob! pretty happy with the progress so far, more to come this next week now that im starting to feel myself again! love the videos you got comin dude
@@DayOffDIY thanks Alec! It’s been rough here too - had covid in July. Hotlanta is in full force right now so makes getting anything done difficult. But lm workin at!
Nice, good brake repairs are satisfying and rewarding! I had a similar thing with the cap not fitting properly. Forgot to test it with air only first (since it was working fine yesterday), but luckily I was just in time before it made a mess. If you see the price of a good adapter, you can't expect kits to come with one of similar quality. Also, I like to point the plug of the bleeding bottle downwards instead of up, so it doesn't squirt all over the place when you disconnect it.
I recommend to check your ISTA. BMW instructions for drum brake adjustments should be there. Did it recently for my 2016 F20 LCI according to ISTA and it worked perfect. But maybe the E30 is to old for ISTA, I am not sure. My ÍSTA version also works for my 1991 E36. Cheers from Germany!
ista is probably too new for this E30, luckily i had some awesome viewers send me some manuals for the car so I had them handy, just didnt need to use them
Thanks for the shoutout! I have never seen one quite that bad, but yeah it looks like there must be some serious corrosion inside that potentiometer and will need to be replaced. You definitely did your due diligence in trying to revive that one though!
thanks for bein a part of it dan! yeah its pretty smoked... hopefully i can find a replacement or someone can repair it. Ill deal with it at a later date after sorting out the engine
Hey Man, great video, If I remember in my E30 regarding the Wiper issue, was the Wiper motor, my wipers were doing the same thing when they would be set on intermittent. If you try and get a hold of a Wiper motor from junk yard and see if that fixes the issue. Keep these great videos coming!!!!
26:41 Alec, would you rather replace brake shoes on drum or disc brakes? I’m glad that you were wearing safety glasses when dealing with those drum brake springs.
The ratchets on your rear drum brakes? There’s a spring that prevents the dial from spinning, I’d pull the drum off and see if that spring is in place or if it’s worn out
I don’t know the part number off the top of my head but if you buy a drum brake hardware kit it will come with the right spring. I saw it on my kit, it holds tension against the dial. Wouldn’t hurt to replace the adjuster too
@@DayOffDIY everything is new , just springs is old but looking not bad i dont know . Its part number 4 , stopper its front of the adjuster and its new spring maybe will fix it .
@@DayOffDIY Now I’ve got it figured out why you are such a clever person! Thank you Alec, we minorities have to stick together because they never had left handed desks at school and penmanship was graded as well. I’ve met very few lefties that could hand write ✍️ well.
@@mitchellbarnow1709 I am righty, but I can write with left hand too (not as well as with the right one). Learned that just because my right hand was hurt, tore a muscle playing volleyball and I had to do school tests and other things which would have been hard to deal with without using the left hand more :D Wasn't the easiest thing to teach my body and mind, but I got by and everything was alright before recovery and after.

thank you my friend! Glad you enjoyed, working on day 3 of shooting my latest E30 video, should be out in the next few days ! Cheers
I believe the right term be "chingón". Love the channel, Alec! I just subscribed.
Spray electric cleaner on the inside where the volume knob is at. That work for me.
I tried some contact cleaner in a previous episode, no luck so far
You have to hit it from the back of the potentiometer where the contacts are while turning the knob. There should be a small access hole.
Alec, you’ve got a gift and I’m so glad that you are sharing your abilities to diagnose BMW issues!
thank you mitchell!
4:00 Alec, mustache is on point today! You’re definitely keeping the firefighter in the Coast Redwoods look.
nice job! i used to set the shoes loose and back the car up, slam on the brakes and the adjuster would get them perfect
hahah love it! maybe ill give it a try one day
Alec, I love your days off!
Thank you for taking my advice and mentioning me on your channel really appreciate it
thanks for being a part of it! :)

Excellent progress on the E30. Def on its way to being fully sorted and ready for the road. Top notch work as always. Keep the videos coming.

can only imagine a cough or breathing challenges in that heat! rough
Another banger of a video, you and old euro cars are youtube gold
really appreciate it ! Thanks!
Good job , I had similar issues with wipers and I removed motor and cleaned carbon track which wasn't making good contact
i think thats what it might be! ill see what a used unit might cost me.
Great video mate, love it. Nice to watch. Looking forward to when you are going to fix the rust.
thanks Jordy! yeah im not too sure what to do about that yet!

good info! yeah im glad to have this one done, turns out the gasket may have been double stacked? either way, was able to figure out a solution :)
Watch out with your back man! Your body is the most important thing, you know that G! Chill video, like it! Up to the next one.
edit: spelling
thank you ivor! good to see you again.

Maybe think about replacing the radio with a VDO Continental TR7412UB- Has BT and Aux input and USB
i looked it up, its a pretty decent looking unit! looks period correct almost

totally could be!!! might have to go that route. thanks for the support!
Love the channel. Get the sure shot for bulk brakleen.
Definitely gotta get a tool kit for drum brakes it solved my life at this point lmao
youre right, ill have to look into one, hopefully no more drums for a long time after this one though lol
I will be at SEMA. We will have 6 cars there this year.
awesome! what kind of cars you displaying?!
A bunch of stuff from the Bitchin Rides tv show.
Definitely needs saving, very quick car. Would look awesome with larger wheels, the ones on it don’t look right
Fresh wheels would be epic
26:41 Alec, would you rather replace brake shoes on drum or disc brakes? I’m glad that you were wearing safety glasses when dealing with those drum brake springs.
I would’ve lost patience and hooked up my drill to the radio knob to spin it and probably break something 😂
lolol that would be a sight to see
Looks like you got parking brake parts that go inside the rotors
I didn't think about that, but yeah, that would make sense.
yeah looks like it. far too small to be for a normal drum setup
Very nice, nice video
thank you grant! good to see you as always
Exellent !
Hi bro all parts new , but every month but rear ratchets need adjusting.

I’d replace the spring to start
See no radiator shroud does e30 comes with no shroud???
yeah this model didnt come with a fan shroud, i believe post 85 they started installing shrouds.
25:24 A new set of shoes and some more chingadera sauce for your potentiometer ought to set everything straight! 😂
22:05 xingaderas 😂
hopin someone would enjoy that reference :)
Yesssss
:)
I have no clue about cars. I am at 74000 km right now (45k miles). Should I replace my brakes?
depends if its the front or rear, fronts wear down faster but the only way to know is with a physical inspection
Alec, are you left handed like me or is the video inverted?
I sure am left handed Mitchell!

yeah they suck... disc is the way to go!
