@@gavinsheridan4680Having lived it, plaid shirts and doc martens, I'll say grunge was a music genre and a lifestyle. Watch the movie Singles, filmed in Seattle in 90-91, I think. I think Pearl Jam even make a cameo, lol.
Thank you for filming this!! One of my favorite songs. I'd love to see more Alice In Chains harmonies content, but would also be interested in analysis of Mad Season's live recording of Long Gone Day with Mark Lanegan. It's a long one, but a pretty incredible performance.
I love thaat performance and theres lots to talk about! Keychange. deep vocals. plus the way layne sounds in that one is xtra chilling! Thanks for commenting Korinda. :)
Just passing by to say, I've gotten so much fun, so far, watching your videos. You're fun, and lovely and actually pointing good stuff out. Keep this good work.
You were correct that Eddie Vedder was from California, but it was San Diego, not L.A. He was born in Illinois in 1964 and his family moved to San Diego in the mid-70's. Initially, he lived in the beach community of Encinitas (where your uncle Chris worked, many years later). At one point, he went back to Illinois for a bit, then returned to San Diego in 1984. He relocated to Seattle in the early 90's, I believe.
Hard to believe Chris wrote the song in 15 minutes as a throw away track to give the album 10 songs because he had a superstition about uneven numbers and originally the album only had 9.
This song was a big hit and helped bring grunge music to the mainstream. I was a freshman in HS, when these talented voices were discovered! 🥰 Eddie became known once he moved to Seattle to join PJ after their original vocalist died. I think that's why Eddie is always associated with Seattle.
Eddie went to Seattle to audition for the remnants of the band, Mother Love Bone, who had just lost their singer Andrew Wood. The same Andrew Wood who temple of the dog made this album in tribute to. CC invited him to join the recording. Eddie then became lead singer for the band Mookie Blaylock which later changed their name to Pearl Jam
@@TaylorJohnHardin" mother love bone" might be worth a reaction. I haven't seen any reactions to them and they were one of the front runners in the Seattle scene just before grunge exploded into the mainstream "Stargazer" is a good song of theirs
Just caught this reaction...you're awesome, explaining how the vocals are performed. Any reaction to the "grunge scene " or just good vocals, is something I'd check out. How about Chris Cornell's Seasons, Can't Change Me, or his cover of Billie Jean.
Love your taste in music and appreciate your analysis. It's good to see younger folks (I'm a grizzled old 90s kid) keeping Staley and Cornell in the limelight.
No disrespect to Nirvana, but Soundgarden and Pearl Jam will always remind me of Seattle and Grunge.
Same!
People thinking grunge was a genre rather than a time period often led to unfair comparisons of these very different bands.
@@gavinsheridan4680 It was both.
Totally! Eddie and Chris's vocal range far exceeds Kirk. 🤷♀️ I loved Nirvana, so no shade, just facts!

Jack Irons out of all of Pearl jams drummers anyway played way off beat style on his kit. Was so cool! Thanks for your vids and content!
