Mark: Savagely slags off film
Also Mark: That being said it was allright
Quite enjoyed the neon lit swimming pool scene with the camera almost drowning with the boy until he, and us, the viewers, are rescued by the sister.
I have been a dedicated horror fanatic for over thirty years. The original Strangers surprised me tremendously. The knocks on the door, the ending . . . it was something at least a little bit disturbing and "new". The Strangers: Prey at Night disappointed me so much! I understand there's the whole rarity in a sequel being comparable to the original, but I was hoping for at least a few crumbs of a good horror time. I literally telegraphed and called EVERY SINGLE SCARE as they happened. I know, that isn't exactly an achievement, but that's precisely my point. A well-known philosopher friend of mine decided to come along, and I was hoping this would somehow spark an interest in horror movies in him. It didn't. I ended up apologizing.
Number 57 Since Ils came out just two years before, no, it wasn't new.
Totally agree with Mark. The film is generic, well trodden, and not very special. BUT. That one scene in the pool was very well done; Stealing a jump scare from the famous scene in Exorcist 3 in its opening, to certain stylings from the ending of Let the Right One in. Almost had me reassessing the movie until it reverted to laziness.
And then for the sackhead guy to come back for one last confrontation. At least TRY, people.
Would make a good kermode uncut- films with moments of potential but ultimately let down by paint by numbers movie. Tho need better title.
Could have sworn it was number 47.
Anyway I saw the original in the cinema 10 years ago. It didn't stay with me long. Enjoyed it a little bit then forgot it. This one was much more memorable, but mainly because it's not very good.
Totally disagree. Loved the original movie, loved this one....nice 80’s unsettling music. Was pleasantly surprised at this one.
“‘Every now and then’ it does something” The movie got Bonnie Tyler in his head.
Good lord. It's not been a decade since the original?!?!?
The strangers is a “classic”? 3 killers occasionally mess with a couple, mostly by banging on their house. You can see the killers sometimes when the couple don’t. They then stab and kill the couple when morning comes. That’s 86 minutes of movie right there. If that’s a “classic” then I’d love to inform you that they’res a genre of movies called horror. It’s been around awhile and there has been a lot of good ones over the years!
So... did Mark like the movie or not? Is it good or not?
Is Mayo there to purely to ask daft questions?
mark shouldve given simon a hi-5 when he said steelers wheel...
I'd quite like to see The Strangers: Pray at Night
Better than the first imo. Which isn't saying much really.
"In a way, you're kind of overthinking it." With these words Mark explains exactly how to enjoy pretty much every horror film ever made.
Just watched it! Really enjoyed! Better than the original!x
The film’s well acted, stylish & well characterised, however the film’s underwritten, badly directed & cliched. (39%) (2/5 stars) (mixed)
This movie was a comedy
Tarantino shouldn't get a free pass to make a Manson film. His romanticising of violence and drugs will be a terrible disservice to the story. I don't want Manson to look cool. Tarantino needs to grow up and mature before he can tackle a film based on horribly true events.
This movie was awful. The original is a classic!!
The original is the incredibly dumb
Chris Holmes the original is absolutely not a classic
Ok yes the original has its issues buts its still an amazing horror movie overall! This long awaited sequel is absolute trash. The writing and acting is bad, the dialogue is atrocious! It’s more gory than scary. The soundtrack sucked. It’s so predictable, lazy and boring! I don’t even put the highest expectations on horror movies, but this movie is one of the worst of the year!
the original is one of the worst movies ive seen
Chris Holmes A Classic monstrosity you mean. It was worse than this one, and pretentious to boot.
Stranger's colon???
Such a boring and forgettable movie
