FULL Penang Travel Guide launches in 2 days, stay tuned! Visiting Penang for the first time since the "before times" was amazing. And 4 days spent seaside at E&O, visiting the spa and trying all the restaurants and bars was crazy good fun! Hi thank you so much. Yes I'm busy editing the Guide now. Includes sightseeing with very prominent local historian and tons of foodie and drinkie bits too ;-)
Looking forward to the full Penang Travel Guide! So many reasons why I love Penang...when I come back, I definitely want to treat myself to high tea and a massage!
Wait til you see it, the top luxury food bloggers and influencers turned me on to the new "best" spot for a degustation menu in Georgetown and it was 7 courses of heaven :-)
I stayed there for 2 nights in March with my husband, it was glorious! The rooftop pool was wonderful and the happy hour canapés on the balcony….I felt SO posh! Heaven!!! I’m very jealous!!!
D hi tea food selection looked really delicious, so scrumptious. All d food u have had at d hotel looked so good. I also like d beautiful B&W chequered tiles floor in d hotel. Fabulous 5 stars 4-day stay at d E&O Hotel.
@@AngelaCarson Hi Angela. Glad that u had a great time at d hotel. If I'm not mistaken, many materials like tiles n iron grill were imported from England during d colonial era by d British in d 1800s. It's beautiful indeed. 🙂
Thanks for this wonderful video n thanks for your lovely review on E&O Hotel in Penang. D hotel n its location is really beautiful. I like d interior design n decor, charming. D suite in d heritage wing, absolutely marvelous.
This is an absolutely superb hotel in Penang. That's an antique British Canon in the garden below with a large "R" and a crown on top of that R. Sadly it has been painted over.
Enjoyed your video as I can't get enough of this hotel !! We always stay here when in Penang in the Victory Annexe and will be there again in a few weeks staying for a fortnight ..... love everything about this place .... the perfect hotel if you want old world charm mixed with modern, peace, luxury and beautiful views across the Malanda Straits.
It is a great place to visit, nice video. I stayed in 2013, if I am not wrong you are staying in the Rudyard Kipling room? The pool in the newer building is quite nice, definitely worth visiting.
True, I saw a photo of the newer pool and it looks lovely. As for my suite, I don't think so.... I was in a deluxe suite, it didn't have a name otherwise. And wow, I wonder how much Penang has changed since 2013 or if it remains quite unchanged?
Did you go to the other happy hour on the 6th floor? You may already know about it but for your subscribers there is a *free* happy hour from 5-6pm. There is alcohol (maybe just beer and wine..I forgot), soft drinks, juices and some light food. Self-serving, everything nicely laid out. Seating available inside but also on the wide covered veranda and the view is spectacular. Very nice just to kick back. Waitstaff at the hotel was fabulous. At the end of happy hour I thanked one and jokingly said I wish I could take a few iced cans of soft drinks back to my room and he encouraged me to do so. Friendly, smiling people, no pretension.
Heyyyy David, I think that might be a new wing thing? I never left my wing except for the spa and that char kuey teow that one day ;-) Our happy hour didn't have any kids, was so chill and nice with the sunset view when outside. But good to know, sounds like a smaller version of an exec club lounge which I L-O-V-E.
@@AngelaCarson You're right. I just read a couple of traveler comments mentioning it is now located in the Victory Annex. I stayed there over four years ago in the Heritage wing on the 7th floor so it was convenient. Moreover, maybe because I was there in September, it wasn't crowded and there were no kids. Well, that's a tad disappointing. I hope the new location still offers plenty of veranda seating and is available to guests who stay in the Heritage wing too.
@@dry5555 Yes, everything in the new wing is available to Heritage Wing guests but not visa versa. So someone staying in new wing cannot visit Heritage pool or the nightly complimentary happy hour but yes the other way around :-)
Agreed. You do get that on the other side of the island (Ferringhi Beach) but that area is not part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, that's only Georgetown. And sadly Georgetown sits on the shipping lane on the Straight of Malacca where large vessels and ships pass so you wouldn't want to even drop your toes in the water :-(
Hi there. Booked a Georgetown suite, which is bigger than the deluxe suite. The only downside is that it has a city view. Did you have a chance to see the Georgetown suite? Also read some negative reviews saying the hotel is no longer what it used to be (not a 5* experience?!?). Do you definitely advise to stay here? Thanks so much! Love your videos 💖
Heyyy :-) I've reviewed around 10 Penang hotels and it is hands-down my favourite luxury experience, I am confident saying it's the best in PG. But I think the view and heritage wing chilled charm had loads to do with it. F&B was good but I ate almost all meals outside, just stayed in 2x during my 4-day stay. I would 100000% say that the view of Deluxe Suite outweighs any larger suite you might book. Unless you are there for business and need a hella-large living room, etc... And friends of mine who have stayed there for years, even during the pandemic, said the same thing to me about the quality of service but I didn't see that downside. Loved the room, amenities, etc...
@@AngelaCarson Thank you so much! I highly appreciate your answer! Will be there for leisure and already booked the suite in the heritage wing and could any time change it with the Deluxe sea view room. Might be indeed better. I know you also reviewed The Prestige hotel in Penang. Do you know the Cheong fatt tze Mansion? Am still not sure if I should stay there one day or two or just visit it. Thanks a lot 😊
Hi - yes do change to the seaview if you can, it was magical. I have stayed at both Prestige and the Blue Mansion (cheong fatt..). They are pretty in different ways. Prestige has an amazing chef overseeing their fine dining now (Chef Johnson) and the location is nice. Nice elegant / steampunk vibe rooms too but not as luxe as E&O. Blue Mansion is amazing for Instagram. Maybe they've improved since I stayed but housekeeping wasn't great (I took my shoes off and feet were almost instantly black), it's noisy because it's next to Red Garden, and they play really loud music until crazy late. I don't know about the chef now but no one speaks of the restaurant when I asked....
@@AngelaCarson You rock! Thank you so much! Will contact right away the E&O and change the suite to a deluxe sea view. Will even ask for the room no. 211 - the one you had 🥰 Once again a BIG thank you for your kind help!
haha yesss. Well, I lived 12 years in Europe working in marketing communications, and British English is the standard there (and in India, where I lived 3 years...). And I travelled loads to the UK and have more British friends than American friends now ... My sister teases me when I say rubbish and trolley haha

I used to live in Penang! Loved it. Such a pretty, relaxing place to be. Nice community too.

Oops..... Malacca Straits ... auto correct!!!!
I love the music you played in the beginning. I have saved it in my playlist since I first heard it in one of your Balochistan vlogs. 😊
Thank you very much! Yes, I do use the same music over and over so glad you like it.
Quite a few celebrities and famous people have stayed in this hotel. Think that there's a Somerset Maugham suite too...
It is the #1 five star on the island so I'm sure you're right, for me it is "the" spot to stay for quality and location

For a hotel by the seaside, it would have been completely faboulous if there is a sandy beach front.
