Mate, so happy you have taken the leap of faith in my suggestion to listen to SOKONINARU. If you like complex magic then here you are. This song is reasonably simple for their style. Some of their songs have more detail in the intro than most bands have in their career. And by the way I’ve heard they play these songs live, it’s not a feat of production

@@markabusireactions thanks, never heard of them, I’ll take a listen. So here’s a suggestion for a completely off the planet SOKONINARU song, reference their name then SUSPENDED FOURTH. This song is a live mash up of 3 famous Japanese songs, recorded live, in 1 take. I had to watch it at least 10 times to take it all in . (This sort of cover song is what they do for fun they put 1 out every month or so , separate from their originals) I’ll put the link separately as sometimes RUclips censors a link

This song is rather straightforward for a SOKONINARU number. TENOHIRA DE ODORU is an amazing song. Maybe you could compare the OMV and the live performance - ruclips.net/video/Kuq-LIqZTY0/видео.html
They also do many, many covers songs. One favorite is"Yoru ni Kakeru" (夜に駆けるlit. "Racing into the Night"), by the duo YOSSOBI. The original song is keyboard based, so sokoninaru’s cover sounds refreshingly different. - ruclips.net/video/0s5Fh6fv2A4/видео.html

Ooooh I ADORE Sokoninaru! 🖤💜 They define mind blowing. As others have said, this is one of their more straightforward songs despite the skills it already showcases 😅 Some of my favourites for their controlled chaos are Saitei, Gou Ni Moyu, and Tenohira de Odoru. Don’t know if you have any plans to revisit them in reactions though, but they’re well worth at least checking out on your own if not.
Oh and they also have a (sort of) Christmas song! 氷上の埋葬 (I think it translates to “burial on ice” which is clearly a very joyful title for a Christmas song 🤣). To me it’s if “crisp snow” was a song. It’s beautiful and emotional even without understanding a word of it.

Hi Mark, having listened to 11 Band maid reactions tonight I commented on a few to suggest Sokoninaru. Then I checked your channel and found this so ignore those comments as you've already done what I was asking. Like your short sweet style of reaction that is informed by some experience of being in what seems like a fairly regular band, why have you chosen to give this up, you must miss the buzz of the PA and venue engineers who have day jobs? Will join your discord and try to push more obscure and innovative stuff your way mostly Japanese but Germany, Poland, Ukraine & Australia have some good stuff too.

The biggest thing is you’re doing a soft i, like in “kid”, instead of a hard i, like in “ski”, when you’re saying the “ni” in the band name. Everything else isn’t bad. Combo vowels are the same as separate vowels. There’s just no gap between them.
In Japanese, everything is context free, pronunciation-wise.

    • @markabusireactions
      @markabusireactions  Год назад +1

I think I know how to say it now! Pointless now the video is up, but I’m learning the rules for future videos ☺️

    • @daaaaaave

@@markabusireactions The vowels are also read the same as in Spanish, or Italian, if that helps at all. Even if you never studied those, you probably know enough food names or musical terms to get it. Pizza, mezzo soprano, and tiramisu covers all of them. The biggest pronunciation hang ups in Japanese for western speakers are the R/L sound, and tsu, I think.
If you didn't have to learn thousands of Chinese characters, and two separate alphabets, spelling in Japanese would be really easy, because you can actually just sound it out.

This comment has nothing to do with the band.... but,
Much better pronunciation than most people do. At least you said every consonant and vowel that was there instead of making up new ones that aren't there. LOL
The easy thing with Japanese is that it's almost totally phonetic. When you see a consonant or vowel, it's pronounced basically the same way all the time. You don't have all the exceptions like you do in English, with different sounding G's C's and every vowel etc.
Vowels are always "AH" "EE" "OOH" "EH" "OH", for A, I, U, E, O. All syllables are usually broken down into a consonant and vowel sound. So for example, Sokoninaru is Soh-Koh-Nee-Nah-Roo (So/ko/ni/na/ru). When you have a combination vowel like "ai" in Zettaiteki, it's just "AH+EE" together, which ends up sounding a lot like "eye", but sometimes it can be extended to 2 syllables like "eye-ee". The double consonants in "tt" just give it a bit of a pause and accent. Instead of "Zeh-tah-ee--teh-kee" it's more like "Zet-tah-ee-teh-kee". Clear as mud right?
Easy right? It's like learning to read as a grade schooler.😂
(I am not Japanese btw, I just learned some very basic things from classes etc)

Sokoninaru started out as a Ling Toshite Sigure cover band, you can hear their influence in LTS songs like Telecastic Fake Show. Sokoninaru has taken the LTS frenetic style and made it their own. Ling Toshite Sigure is not as popular in the west because their vocals are not as readily appealing to western ears. Their concerts are a special experience, if you find a recording of an entire LTS concert you will understand their popularity inside Japan.

That one wee cowbell was intentionally silly, and a recurring joke. In their song "Saitei", they made and temporarily pinned a comment to their own video which was simply the timestamp of the cowbell.
Amazing band. I like this song but it isn't among my favourites. "Tenohira de Odoru" is most people's first Sokoninaru song, but lots of other great options too. Saitei, Indelible Time, Gou Ni Moyu, plenty more but not much point listing them.....
Btw, I have never seen anyone get offended because a westerner unintentionally mispronounced a Japanese word at the first attempt. (Well, if you mispronounce "Nemophila" - the name of a Japanese band - at the first attempt, people will come after you, but technically that's not a Japanese word.) You pronounced it well enough that I can't confidently correct you.
