- From September 1997 at the 22nd U.S. OPEN 9-BALL CHAMPIONSHIPS, a great match and a rare look at one of the up-and-coming hot shots of the late 90's, George "Ginky" SanSouci vs. the veteran Jose Parica. With both men of shorter stature, this is also a great match to see stretching techniques as both players are reluctant to use a bridge.
"Ginky" started a stellar rise in the pro's right about this time with a series of national titles:
1998 Camel Pro Billiard Series Ten-Ball Championship
1999 National Straight Pool Championship
1999 BCA Nine-Ball Championship
2000 Derby City Classic 9-ball Champion
Unfortunately, SanSouci retired in 2002 after an accident injured his neck, but came back in 2005 to start climbing the pro pool ladder again, only to pass away in 2011 at the age of 39.
Hosted by Bill Incardona with Special Guest Grady Mathews

Missed Ginskter and his humor. Longest time after his departure still felt like pool hall door would open and he would walk in... He was an amazing player, made the game look extremely easy. Many times he would come up after I was done with my match and would show me what I did wrong and correct it. He had an amazing mind for the game remembered every lay out. Jose is most under appreciated Filipino player somehow and deserves more accolades and Hall of Fame many more times than some guys in there. Great humble guy with killer instinct for money games, Has robbed many rooms and great players for cash
Thank you Pat. Lots of high level commentary in this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I used to play Ginky quite a bit at Amsterdam Billiards in NYC back in the early to mid 90's. He had a pretty simple style, nothing too flashy, knew a lot about the game, and played excellent position patterns. He was a very solid, very strong player, a tough opponent, and always respectful. I learned more and improved my game more from playing him than anyone else I ever played.
9Ballr. You were blessed to be amongst greatness. Miss watching him.
Amazing how much someone can learn from him on this Match. I learned like 4 moves I never knew about before and I PLAY A LOT.
Thanks for this great Match Accu-Stats. Please uploud this Video Bustamante vs Reyes 😍😊👍
I like it anytime Buggs Rucker is brought up in commentary.
"Can he hit the one ball, or is he snookered?"
"I don't know, I have too many people in front of me and I'm snookered."
Classic.
😯😉😯👍👍😯😉😯 ... WOW !!! ... I WILL BE WATCHING IN 21 HOURS !!! ... THANK YOU PAT FLEMMING AND ACCUSTATS !!! 😯😉👍👍😉😯
Love this commentary team, really miss Grady
Grady was a class act and true gentleman
i had a chance to room with Grady at the 2nd DCC at executive west hotel, but i already had a place--i should have worked out a day or two just to hear his stories..........
How he died isn’t important it’s about who he was when he was alive , those that knew him miss him and will never forget him . I use to sit and watch him play for hours when I was in high school he made the game look very easy he was smooth and precise and was a cool guy . RIP
this was a delight to watch. Mr. Mathews made me laugh more than once very enjoyable gentlemen R.I.P. Grady and Mr. SanSouci thnks Mr. Fleming for posting this gem of a match.
Thanks for putting these old matches up. Great stuff.
Those Brunswick tables are gorgeous. I love those tables.
Thanks accu-stas, I'd like to see Efren's match during this same exact event held in 1997, it was a great match if I remember correctly.
Ginkster died 10 years ago today. I went to his funeral. RIP my friend.
His memory lives on with all who knew him.
He's dead? What a pity for a rising star. RIP
I had the good fortune of playing Ginky many times in the 1990's at Amsterdam Billiards in NY (when it was still on Amsterdam Avenue). He was a great player and always a gentleman.
What a MATCH! I LEARNED SO MUCH WATCHING GINKYS COMPSOURE AND INTELLEGENCE. He started off playing so smart and got a little hustler loose towards the end. Hill hill I really wished he played the 2 behind the 6. Playing smart kept him in the match the whole time. This was an epic battle. Can't fault him for shooting at the 2 though he knew he was a good enough player to make it. But I really wish he would have played safe. I am learning so much from watching these tapes. This is top notch composure at its Best .Im def taking some of this style to my next tournament. Congrats to both players for reaching such a high level of play. 2 Legends who will never be forgotten in the world of pocket billiards.
R.I.P. Ginky, Miss watching you play
thank you Pat
Your welcome Michael.
Efren was good, but the fact that he overshadowed all the dudes is just more impressive
Check out that good looking gentleman playing on the back table!!!
lol, yeah, many trying to follow the match may find him distracting.
Thanks for share.!!!!!
🙏👍🤝
Turning the sound off makes this much more enjoyable... jose playing games in the final rack... slow racking...
The wet table sounds so ridiculous
great match , what a shame George left us so early.
His choice....Heroin.
Great Match
do you have the final with earl and efren?
We do, and in time, will go on RUclips.
@@AccuStats great
Talkin about how he beat Efren 2x, decisively, in a race to 15! Before Efren, there was Jose Parica!...
George. Sterling chap. ⭐
Did the kick safe not exist in 1997?
jose makes the game look so easy. i practice pool hard and often and it blows my mind how these guys play so well. i honestly dont get it. ive had lessons, i do drills, i analyze film of myself and cant even come within light years of these guys. i really do not get how they are so good. its very frustrating.
Funny listening to Grady talk about the cut having no value. Fast forward to 2020.
REST IN PEACE GEORGE
REST IN PEACE GRADY
REST IN PEACE BUGS
REST IN PEACE RUSTY
Billy "my vantage point" Incardona. Match after match, year after year the same frase.
Mr Fleming, Accu-Stats - I only see 2 matches from that year's tournament. Do you have any others to share from 1997?
We have a total of five DVDs from that event. Go to accu-stats.com and look through our online catalog to see which ones are available.
@@AccuStats TYSM!!
High IQ angles on both sides
この頃のビリヤードは良かったな〜😊
Ginky was the man
I did not know how Ginky died. Met him in NY during the 90’s. He was a good friend of Albrect, a Filipino pool player from NJ. Nice guy!!!
He was taking pills and accidentally took to many. He was a great player and is missed in pool. 🙏🏼
Eric Petersen Thanks so much for the info. Really shocked when I heard about his death years back.
wet table.. meaning damp table (humidity) I'm guessing
Yes. Humid
I miss Ginky.....and I still owe him a tuna fish sandwich.
Wow this is the most comments I've seen before a the match premieres
why is the commentator sound like hes biting his teeth while he's talking? therefore
i have always liked grady’s commentary but his whistling puts me off.
Sounds just like Mitch McConnel
29:21 comment/question gave me a good laugh ....
Jose is like a filipino Charles Bronson, seeking vigilante justice upon every ball that has ever wronged him.........
Parica could give Reyes the 5, 7. Lol
this match needed the shot clock.
I love Billy and Grady on commentary, they are funny, but in game 13 Billy and Grady both said the 6 into the 9 combo down the rail was a very tough shot for Jose, are you kidding me, it was dead, a 5 handicap in APA 9 ball would have made that shot every time. It was so simple, and they called it a tough shot, the 9 ball was 2 inches from the corner pocket, all he had to do was touch it with the 6 and it goes every time.
That Grady was a hater. I guarantee you you he’d would never get up to play Jose. Not for long anyway
GRADY WHEN HE WAS YOUNG BEAT THE PANTS OFF JOSE, ILLEGAL ALIENS
HE IS ABOUT 70 COMMENTATING
Grady could spot both of them in one pocket
1:17:35 😩😂
long, boring SLOPPY match.
What Grady and Billy are doing, is trying to outdo the other, thus making this video boring! Its better if you turn the BS naration off, and just watch
The best there ever was!
Everyone is entitled to an opinion of course, myself on the other hand watch these vintage matches because of the commentary. The info level and entertainment value in incomparable.
My problem with them, is that I was around when they played, and took Grady on a short road trip when he was considered #1, so I know them.
Ok. What a priviledge it must have been to be involved in the scene during that era!
GRADYS THE BEST, HE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS. HE DOESNT KISS ANYONES ASS. THE EXACT TYPE OF COMMENTATOR WE WANT
