Shinoda is underselling himself here. Chester was great, and necessary for the sound. But so was he. Chester was also a bit of a stiff performer and I’m sure having his friends there really helped him with his mental health. There was no Chester without the band and clearly he was wise enough to know that.

He may have been a great singer and a good friend to his band mates, but let’s not pretend like that just blankets and makes him a great person without failures. This was his greatest failure, and as a father - to pass on that demon rather than deal with it yourself, that’s the worst decision he could’ve ever made
