- The worlds of figure skating and Irish dancing collaborated in a special event called "Riverdance on Ice," which aired Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, on NBC, which stars the Riverdance troupe and 12 Olympians. The show rebroadcasted on Hallmark Channel March 15 and 21, 2011. The impressive figure skating cast has earned a total of four Olympic medals and 24 World Championship medals. The skaters were Americans Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, Sasha Cohen, Todd Eldredge, Amanda Evora and Mark Ladwig, Emily Hughes, Michael Weiss, Canadians Shae-Lynn Bourne, Jeffrey Buttle, Joannie Rochette, and British skater Steven Cousins.
The show was recorded in Lowell, Mass., a location that worked perfectly considering the state's many figure skating connections. The evening's hosts were 1994 Olympic silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan and 1998 Olympic silver medalist Michelle Kwan. Развлечения
As a musician, figure skater, and someone who has loved watching Riverdance, I would love to see this performance live!
I love this dance soooo MUCH!
I love Riverdance. I can't wait to hopefully be a part of it one day
I like how this is done. The dancers acknowledge the skaters, and vice versa. Lovely.
This gives new meaning to the phrase "dancing around each other".
I'm very happy to see This Amazing Wonder!...
wonderful my friend one dream see in ice and voice of angel beauty
I'm surprised if skating was a part of the show, that the team that made this music famous on ice wasn't there or maybe not even asked to be. I'm talking about Shae-Lynn Bourne(just saw her! LOL ) and Victor Kraatz-look it up. Still one of the best ice dance routines I've ever seen. :)
maravilloso
a perfect combo
it's part of the "Riverdance" track on the Original CD from the show. it also appears to be called "Cloudsong" on later versions of the DVD
It's called Cloudsong, and is part of the Riverdance Reprise.:)
I wish they did not add the river effect to the video.
The song that comes before The America Wake/Nova Scotia Set (the dancing part) was 'Lift the Wings'. The cancelled it a few years ago.:( Hope that helped! ^.^

To make a long story short,he approached me and I had my "Michael Moment" for about an hour. He was a gentleman, and introduced me to key members of the cast. It was 1:00 am, and they were there for dinner before hitting the road again. That weekend was one of THE most memorable of my life. I went on to see him & original cast 3 more times, twice with front row seats. His show sold out everywhere. Look to the right. The 2 videos beneath Riverdance..The entire show is there & Planet Ireland.
People from other Planet...
In my next life, this is (one of the) things I will master! Un-real.
I can't belive the lead dancers are husband and wife!
Would that even be possible?! And if so, safe?!
Yes and Do you know how the song they skated its called?
7:44 its not on here anymore i love that part whats it called???
He went on to ENORMOUS fame with his own shows. Lord of the Dance and my favorite "Feet of Flames. There were hundreds and hundreds of "Flatheads" all over the country, and some of us would travel, have a 'meet & greet, and to see him perform again. I actually met Michael Flatley in Cleveland (I flew in from Baltimore) at an Irish pub and the place was empty except myself, a couple friends & the cast of the show I had just seen..
I am as surprised as you, to see ice-skating such as this (bloody brilliant too, I might add) to the tune of "Riverdance" The person who made this music famous is Bill Whelan. I've been a fan since the late 90's. And I've seen Riverdance at least three times since. When Michael Flatley (the man who created & choreographed this show was fired because he would not give up creative control over his choreography.
What's so unbelievable about that ?
riverdance isn't the same without Michael flatley
Jarta, please show us a video of how you would improve on the skating performace.
The incessant cheering throughout the performance! OMG! Did the prima Irish Dancer win Worlds? I don't recognize her. Normally recognize the high kick and straightness of the knee. Hers was not one I know.
:) They do not dance on ice. There's a wide black border separating the dance floor and the ice.
riverdance without their original main performers, is no longer riverdance unfortuantely! :(
Always thrilled to see the Riverdance but still miss seeing Jean Butler and Michael Flatley dancing the principal roles. Didn't like Colin Dunne at all. Still Michael went on to create the wonderful Lord of the Dance.....which he wouldn't have if he had stayed with the original Riverdance.
The ice skating was brilliant.
I'm sorry, but we were not thorughly impressed with the ice skating representing the dancing. Skating to the vocalists was one thing, but they were off step during the dancing portions. The fire and magic just wasn't there.
