    I tried the blockade runnet with a friend on Sunday night. We would have gotten further had I not crashed my Cutlass Black into a Lorville building when I went to pick him up. We played about two hours total. When I logged in the completion was 0/1000 delivered. By the time we were loading cargo it was 7/1000. We unloaded and it put it at 51/1000. Then we had to log off and go to bed because we had work the next day.

    I'm looking forward to the engineering gameplay, but like all features it'll requiew a lot of trying it out along with several dedicated websites abd YT channels. I'm paticularly interested in what happens if you are caught severely under-manned?

    I have no idea why people are freaking out so much about engineering. CIG has been saying this was the plan for years. A single pilot running a large ship was never a permanent thing.

      Whales are mad because they thought they were going to be able to solo all 4 of their idrises. People are mad they cannot be the main character all the time like it’s a movie because they spent 20,000 dollars. There is a lot of overlap between them and care bears for obvious reasons. Honestly when you listen to a lot of responses from people you find out they just want a single player game where they can show off to real players every now and then.

    For stolen or salvaged ships there needs to be a high risk "mission" where you can break in somewhere and scrub the vin to make it yours. Similar to clearing your crime stat but maybe more involved.

      I really like this idea! Like a combination of a hacking mission, AND bringing the stolen ship to a site where the SIN would be wiped (maybe like some tiny spot in Pyro!)

      yeah I agree with this, maybe even have a ship "fixer" who can be paid to recode the ownership for that iteration to allow it to appear as an ingame purchased ship.... for a price depending on whether it was found and has been insurance claimed already or not... should determine the cost of the fixing the IFF

      AI is still cringe because their animations aren't very modern like other games yet,
      they need to invest in LLM technology inhouse to fix that but again thats a budget they need to meet and sell to you guys
      me i know it's required No need to sell it to me but to the avg backer who has no idea about tools required to make improvements haven't been developed and renting tools from 3rd parties ends up with lawsuits if they don't do exsactly the thing they want CIG's corperat isn't very on the ball they need less Coomers more visoniaries.

      You probably just weren't paying attention to it in the past. It was one of the first things I noticed when I started playing 4 months ago. Even the "bad guy" NPCs will cower at times (which I doubt is supposed to happen).

    It’s important to remember ballistics of the RIGHT SIZE can penetrate armour which I presume means a light fighter can do little damage to a capital ship. Later they say armour will be positional I assume like belt armour on a battleship protecting key components from larger weapons.

      I'm definitely looking forward to when they start doing the log in/out anywhere. That's a goal of a future iteration of long term persistence, so that much like WoW or other MMOs you just pick up where you left off, but there'll be a bonus for using a bed.

      @mattvmalone The elevators don't follow a track or anything they're literally magic boxes that clip through the world in whichever direction they need to go. Park a ship in a landing pad some time then take the elevator to the lobby. Watch the goofy ass path the elevator takes. It doesn't track with any physical component of the space station whatsoever

    Super impressed by the blockade runner? I've tried multiple servers on multiple days and have yet to finish it. It has cost us about the same amount in repairs and fuel as the 'rewards' earned. Sadly, my crew just kind of gave up on it.

    9:10 Pretty sure the heavier the flightsuit/armor the faster your food and water go down. If that is true then there would be an advantage to switching to regular clothes while in a ship, especially for extended stays in space where you may need to manage food/water supplies.

    I think MM makes sense. Toggle combat mode, you have more power to weapons/shields, but can't enable QT, and put the HUD into combat mode. Out of combat, back to nav mode, swap hud to Nav mode, auto-disable weapons/shields, allow power back to QT, because it requires a lot of power (think Star Trek red alert vs normal mode). I simply think it needs refinement, and we need to get used to it.

      Mode switching is fine but when you are in scm mode it's soooooo boring they need to make flight fun again at least. Trichording needs to be brought back at least, the maneuverability is just so dog crap right now, it doesn't make sense to have thrust vectors nerfed when trying to implement multiple at once.

    I definitely feel like it isn't fun to grind up the money to buy ships in game. It feels like the missions are tuned very low, probably to encourage website ship sales with real money. I don't own a giant C2 or Caterpillar or anything, so I can't just log on and make millions of credits doing salvage missions with cargo recovery. Starting from the ground up is extremely tedious.

    Well my home hangar and another player i started doing missions with also
    so borked hangars make this patch a hard to enjoy but 100% great patch if it didn't break
    now if you STORE a "liberated ship" if it's been "scrbbed of serial numbers" should be considered a "fixer-upper" and you should be allowed to keep it but this begs the question about how ships are created needs to be More thougvht out and hanger owned insured ships need a rethink
    i would prefer crafting replace EVERYHING we have and player run economy would bascially be the BEST way to keep gameplay persistantly ongoing and it will bring people in verse make it more fun
    then if you add crafted furniture and music PA systems so players can place speakers in their hangars and homsetads and have IP broadcast radio to the area then have a way to RENT a PA system to play your audio but then you have copyright bs next so maybe if CIG have their own VIDEOSHARE platform like RUclips for music and have a curation system or maybe have a licence system so players can pay for the PA licence so they can broadcast live TV or Music this would allow players to have VIRTUAL social areas too.
    but again the methods need to be thought out by corperate

    I think the most important thing about the "stolen" ships is that this says flat out that the ultimate funding model for Star Citizen is NOT selling ships. I think a lot of people who have been on this project for years have thought buying ships was going to give them some kind of exclusivity. Obviously, you can't run an MMO that way (not in the West anyway).
    This is also why RSI has been saying that "ship insurance is NO BIG DEAL", so "don't BUY FOR THE INSURANCE". Because, ultimately, you'll get cashed out for your hull, or you'll get a stock (no upgrades) replacement. Whoever jacked you gets your old wreck + modules and cargo (if they can recover it).

    Iirc, most of Master Modes have been tweaked and balanced through Arena Commander feedback. That’s probably the most concerning part, only because of how “arcade-like” it tends to be. In a regular space fight, I’m not going to have the option to fly through an ammo box or repair wrench to get back in the fight. Just makes me concerned that they’re balancing in a way that doesn’t make sense for the PU. All in all, I’d agree to wait for 4.0 before I’m ready to fully critique Master Modes, just wish I didn’t feel so trepidatious about it.

    I'll be very curious about how CIG will teach players about the new systems. Will we see a new tutorial when they push .24.2 for the new MFDs, or Engineering in 4.0 (or .24.x)? I doubt it, but really hope they do that, as opposed to just a gloss over in an ISC or SCL and exploratory learning and AC/PTU exposure.

    Hopefully they fix some of the mission bugs in 3.24.2, like the 890 Jump mission, since I'm relatively new to the game and still have my starter ship, and I for one, would really like to try it out and explore the giant ship

    Im anticipating the engineering gameplay - really looking forward to how it devs out. I like that components will have a max health after damage (similar to the medical model), such that station services are needed to fully repair. However, i think that bringing components back from 0 ill have to test to find out if thats always true. I dont like the idea that someone can just keep repairing something nearly indefinitely... So maybe like a dual health aystem ... Operational health and true health, such that operational health determines its output capacity, while true health determines the cap of output capacity... Thereby allowing a system to be repaired from 0 operational health, so long as theres remaining true health. After true health hits 0, no more reapairing the component - it just needs to be replaced. I think they have separate metrics for this as is (health and maintenance - heart and gear)

    putting a limited oxygen supply when your helmet is on, i think is the best way to combat the balance with fire/atmosphere in ships, so that way pople wont always have their helmet on because of the limited supply, ofc if the ships life support system is on it will recharge it, but maybe it will stop people from permanently having them on without any consequence and just bypassing dangers of fires and atmosphere venting.

    Blockade Runner is OK to do but its a frickin' nuisance if its running where you spanw and really wasn't your choice of activity today. That's a constraint on player action choice which may need some re thinking. Character customisation is fluff and should be eyars down the line compared to more basic stuff like ship security so that we have something like your car keys to prevent casual ship theft, which you can't even oppose in armistice. And don't oevr complicate. Fire etc is fine, but its space, in a space ship. It should be close on fireproof by virtue of what its made from, we learned that form Apollo 1. Simply evnting the ship, or indeed leaving it unpressurised should be the palusible approach. Flight suit, clue's in the name for me there! Good video.

    Meaningful engineering gameplay - upgrade, light repair for wear and tear and general ship maintenance will be an added dynamic. Its going to be a balancing act which will ultimately be set by CiG from backers. Also might be an interesting gameplay loop to board and cripple a ship by stealing the quantum drive for either resale or as part of a specific mission parameter. I'm really interested in the homebase building and what they will be like...

    There is 1 thing CIG knows how to get done: timesinks. Everything else... not so much. In 3 -4 years when 4.0 comes arround, a 6000 uec mission will take 10 hours by that time.

    I like that they're not only allowing but outright encouraging people to steal and repair ships for their own use. Which is kinda weird, since I usually dislike pvp (because yeah, I kinda suck at most games that have pvp, I'll admit it).

    Homesteads, hopefully with hangars, would be great. I'm not expecting anything like that for a while, but it feels like a step towards the gameplay I'm interested in.
    That and hiring NPCs.

    How would stealing a ship work with insurance. If someone steals my polaris and makes it "theirs" then I file insurance. Did we just duplicate that ship? I could see a lot of potential problems in that system

    I hope 3.24.2 is coming soon. I'm really looking forward to it.
    Also engineering sounds interesting, but I just hope CIG is careful not to make things so extreme that we spend more time repairing ships than flying them.

    Hopefully 3.24.2 'features' wont require much work and its more a matter of nailing that underlying tech. Feels like its the ground work for 4.0 at this point.

    The funny thing is I watch the videos from the star citizen channel and I still watch videos from the youtubers who get their video from the star citizen channel in hope's they've got some detials i've missed xD I haven't even played this game but I've been watching it's development since 2012 back when Cyberpunk 2077 was announced. I haven't played Star Citizen yet but always been on the sidelines interested.

    Watching the b-roll during this, it brings to mind a little detail that has annoyed me for a long time. Why do they have the temperature of space set to 0° C? Temperatures are, in effect, the difference between the energy in the environment and the energy of an object. Space is effectively a vacuum and therefore effectively has infinite capacity to have energy added to it, therefore, it should act almost as though the temperature was absolute zero. It really seems silly to me that the empty black void is warmer than a lot of the moons that we go to.

    6:00 as an engineer i think this is boring and tedious im here to play a game no to work 9-5 in starcitizen, also they are forcing people to play with others if they want to enjoy some type of ship else they will be stuck playing small ship and get bored fast. The least they can do to make this playable is to give us npc crew. Forcing your multiplayer aspect on players is bad, what they are doing is saying play our way or don't play at all, not what i had in mind when i got this game. Rn im still playing but if 4.0 is really like this i'll probably drop this time leech game.
    same thing they did with Cargo Empire, let's make everybody manually unload their stuff everytime, exept if they have to sell that stuff, sure auto unloading 104 scu in box by 8 if good but can it compare with manually loading 104 box by 1 scu because u can't autoload, but wait u can spend 40€ for a premium faster better alternative.

    I think balistics should have a 1 in 100 chance of hitting you while in the pilot seat . It should be like rolling a crtical hit . It could make for some very interesting fights and situations . Imagine your co pilot having to take over and hopefully reviving you after the battle

    When I go basic astroid mining or salvaging in astroid belts I always run/fly around in 'worker clothes' (jacket , shirt , pants, hat, gun , multitool,...) ... no need to put on flightarmor. I only exit my ship on the stations. Then load up Caterpillar or Taurus and fly to a planet to sell it all. Do I need to do that, no, but it s more immersive for me.

    If your ship is on fire, and the only part not on fire is the cockpit, meaning you've got nowhere to go (and no fire extinguisher)...can you shoot through the glass to evacuate the cockpit through what is normally blocked by glass? ...the glass you normally look through while you're flying...

    So, right now only I think 1 or two ships have engineering in 3.24. Will every single ship be getting engineering in 4.0? If so, does this mean some of the ships that are just straight up broken getting some fixes? For example, the cargo pods for the Carrack don't open. You essentially cant carry anything with it right now. In 4.0 I see a real use for the Carrack but it will be completely mitigated if we can't add cargo to it.

    Buy two accounts, at least one with an LTI ship. Steal the ship off your second account, sell it on your main. Repeat every time the LTI kicks in to respawn it. Infinite money on main.

    Adding a new type of salvage, where you are tasked with locating and returning a damaged ship on behalf of the insurance agency would be pretty awesome. Hopefully they consider this. It would add some interesting complexity to the salvage career.

    I actually love the new engineering game, it adds depth to the game (depth much needed), and it helps the multicrew system. MFDs are also a very needed update, finally!

    Being able to refurbish salvaged ships would be great, but I want to be able to sell stolen ships at a chop shop, that would be a great addition. Drop in to see Scooter and offload my ill-gotten gains, no questions asked!
