This movie is so good that I get lost in the action and atmosphere and don’t even care!!
The actor who played Imhotep was very under rated, the army that was willing to die for the cause, Imhotep betrayal not to mention the earlier action moments. This movie was very good.
its like he missed his mark, but they ran out of tape. Or used the wrong take. He runs, drops and delivers the line so over the top that the other two are like "uh dude?"
From what I understand from the books and movie, Anubis was the one who made the instructions. He was also quite possibly the one who told the ancient Egyptians about him, the army and the bracelet and gave them the bracelet and spear.
@@tonyf4991 In reality Anubis didn't had an ARMY. He was just a friendly neighborhood God of soul who can deliver the souls necessary from or to our world .
The contrasts here are so incredibly sad... Rick yells at Eve to forget him, run and save herself, but she refuses... while poor Imhotep begs Anck-su-namun to save him, but she just abandons him. The look on Imhotep's face when she runs away is just heartbreaking. Literally everything he's done, the reason the whole plot of the movies ever happened, was for her - he really never did any of it for himself - and then he finally realizes she never loved him at all, and all of it was for absolutely nothing. Then he just gazes sadly at Rick and Eve, and knows that he never had, or will have, true love like theirs... so, having no reason to carry on, he just lets himself fall into the abyss. All Imhotep ever wanted was the woman he loved, and to give her the world. In the end, he was a truly tragic villain. Years later in the third movie, Jonathan even names his nightclub in Shanghai after Imhotep, which is actually kind of touching. Even though he was their enemy, maybe in a way, they sort of made peace with him.
Imagine telling a woman 3000 years ago that you will bring her back to life, go through excruciating pain, hell itself and eventually come back to life, only to bring her back to find out she never really loved you. Moral of the story.... When s*** gets REAL Men! make sure you find and bring home a Nefertiti, not a Anck su namun.
You actually feel really bad for Imhotep in this scene....ALL he wanted in the end was Anck-Su-Namun to love him....and when she deceives him and flees....you can just feel his heart break like any man! After which he chose to submit himself back to the dark underworld..... (really dark message when you think about it)
Tfw you went to heck and back to get ya boo for who knows how long, only to be rewarded with a heartbreaking rejection like most men today in society. It’s saddening to see him with tears in his eyes
Rick telling Evie to save herself, sacrificing himself and Imhotep telling Anck-Su Namun to save him and endanger herself is just the perfect turn of events in that moment. Evie would save Rick anyway, but seeing him in grave danger and still only worry about her proves his love to her, while Imhotep endangering his woman to save himself is telling of how wicked he is even in love. Pretty good writing.
Gotta love the contrast here; Rick clearly telling Evy to run away, she races to save him because she wants to save him. Then there's Imhotep and Anck, where Imhotep begs her to help him, and she proceeds to pull a _Screw This, I'm Outta Here!_ on him.
It makes you feel so bad for him. The guy literally went to hell and back for the woman he loved, only to be rejected and left to die. It makes you wonder if it was all just a fling for her and Imhotep was naive enough to read far too much into their affair than what was truly there.
@@lesley1204 From what I remember, wasn't she originally the wife of the Pharaoh? And the Imhotep guy was just some high ranking official who was trying to commit adultery with the Pharaoh's wife behind his back. And how they got found out, which was why she was in that mess in the first place? And how it was all to do with his lust for her, for glory, for power, and all that naughty stuff that backfired and made even his own boss, the Pharaoh, hate him? I read the whole thing as a moralising cautionary tale to keep your hands off your boss's wife. It should be common sense, but Alcibiades kept breaking this simple rule, first, after defecting to Sparta, then, after getting kicked out when he was found out, did the same thing in Persia. And he's only the most famous example I can think of in history. There's bound to be a lot more in the past and in the present. And then, you get people like Joseph who run from fornication and adultery, and get framed for it anyway. But he still ends up coming out on top, as if by accident. But I don't believe in accidents. Anyway, just a thought.
Yup. That proved that Anck-su-namun didn't love him as much as he loved her. She cared for herself most of all. That's why Imhotep gives Rick and Evy that little look of envy before willingly casting himself into that pit.
C Gomez There was no guarantee she would have saved him. What if she died WHILE she was trying? And then Imhotep had no way to be saved and still would have perished, preventing him from carrying her corpse and using the black book of the dead to resurrect her. That was the entire point. Anck-su-namun had just been resurrected once again. She wasn't going to risk dying a third time and this time staying dead for good. Like I said, in the end she cared more for herself than for Imhotep. She wasn't willing die for him like he was for her. Come on, you really didn't think of any of this?...

You know it always breaks my heart that Anck-Su-Namun just left Imhotep left there to die and she just didn't care! Even though they were both very mean evil people that's just plain wrong! But I will always love Jonathan he never stops wanting to get his treasure!
@@braedenwestland2662 Beni is Jonathan, with his redeeming qualities removed, leaving only the treacherous, greedy and self-serving man, but none of Jonathan's redeeming qualities like his love for his family.
The ending is my favorite scene of the movie amongst others in The Mummy Returns. Shortly after the Scorpion King is dead Izzy comes to the rescue to save the day and his friends! Izzy is truly a real hero no matter how scared or shy he may be!😉
adams darwins Dued I watched this movie in theatres and thought the same thing. I mean look at anubis's army. They did that with cgi and it wasn't horrible like the scorpion king.
The thing I like about the mummy franchise is that your in for the ride of your life;love, death, fear, action, adventure etc there's this 'connection' you develop with the characters. It's like your with them in it.. No movie can replace this place. Even the actors underwent so many troubles like heat strokes, snake/insect bites. The director even made an insurance for the actors in case they were kidnapped
Casting Oded Fehr was genius. He was absolutely luscious in this. He's the reason I watched both movies. Dwayne Johnson has never interested me, I don't find him one bit attractive at all. But both of these Mummy movies were great. Anything before and after really can't hold a candle to them.
I almost feel bad for Imhotep, but then again Anuck-su Namun was the Pharaoh’s mistress. That right there should have told him that she was a hoe, even more so that she DEFINITELY wasn’t the one. I’m just saying....☕️
I really wish there would have been a different ending instead of killing off Imohtep this way. His love for Anak was very strong and the whole point of the first movie so it doesn't make sense she just left him. I could imagine an alternate ending where he also gets rescued by anak but his powers are still removed and no longer a threat, Imohtep then looks over at Rick and non-verbally concedes with a slight nod and then the two couples go their own separate ways to escape the collapse. The event could have humbled Imohtep and realize that ultimately all he ever wanted was to be with Anak. This way they could have remained frenemies for future installments.
I honestly don't understand why everyone complains so much about the CGI. Yes, it was completely obvious that the Scorpion King was CGI. But literally ALL CGI is fairly noticeable. Only difference is how well it's made to blend in with the real. And for its time, I feel like it was alright.
Everybody in this movie played their part so well, very well put together, chemistry is flawless between the actors/characters.......... except the bug Dwayne Johnson....... he brings a degree of corny strangeness to the movie.

I love how Imhotep is like, "Yeahhh, you got me, I guess... Goodbye..." at the end when Anck-su-Namun left him.

@@rebeccarambo2893 it wasn't. If Eve could do it, she most likely could too.
@Luan Loud bruh
Let's say that just like Imhotep is Rick's evil counterpart, Anck su Namun is this to Evie.
What can I say women always do the opposite of what you tell them lol
At least Anck died the way she deserved: the scarabs.
@@lesley1204
From what I remember, wasn't she originally the wife of the Pharaoh?
This part is sad imhotep went through all of that for her and she abandoned him.
PyroMuzique bitches bro
These hoes ain’t loyal
Yup. That proved that Anck-su-namun didn't love him as much as he loved her. She cared for herself most of all. That's why Imhotep gives Rick and Evy that little look of envy before willingly casting himself into that pit.
C Gomez
It's the movie.
It never makes sense.
Just look that way
C Gomez There was no guarantee she would have saved him.
3:14 Is the actor forgot his place during the scene?

I really wish there would have been a different ending instead of killing off Imohtep this way. His love for Anak was very strong and the whole point of the first movie so it doesn't make sense she just left him. I could imagine an alternate ending where he also gets rescued by anak but his powers are still removed and no longer a threat, Imohtep then looks over at Rick and non-verbally concedes with a slight nod and then the two couples go their own separate ways to escape the collapse. The event could have humbled Imohtep and realize that ultimately all he ever wanted was to be with Anak. This way they could have remained frenemies for future installments.
I actually would’ve liked this.
That would have a great ending
That would have been epic but then again I'm a fan of villains-turned-good plots, haha.

I honestly don't understand why everyone complains so much about the CGI. Yes, it was completely obvious that the Scorpion King was CGI. But literally ALL CGI is fairly noticeable. Only difference is how well it's made to blend in with the real. And for its time, I feel like it was alright.
