  • RTÉ News reports on the death of legendary uilleann piper Liam O'Flynn. The County Kildare native first found fame in the 1960s as a member of Planxty with Christy Moore, Dónal Lunny and Andy Irvine, before going on to a successful solo career, as well as collaborating with many artists such as Kate Bush and Mark Knopfler. O'Flynn was acknowledged as Ireland's foremost exponent of the uilleann pipes and brought the music of the instrument to a worldwide audience. He was 72 years old when he died in Dublin following a long illness.
