      1) Bit of a favour to ask of you, please.
      First off, I like this channel.
      Right, now the favour: When Lloyd's VO (voice over) kicks off at 00:14, the music over-rides it and can be a bit distracting.
      Translation: I like to hear what you BOTH say, when you are speaking and ... the music when you are not.
      Thanks, Mates!
      2) Whatddyamean, Lloyd is not a name people are used to? I surely AM. I have run into that name heaps of times! I think using aliases is rather clever, however.
      3) Also, when you do get stared at (and then followed) just be HAPPY AS that you are not alone, or a woman travelling alone.
      Men, who misbehave like that, and they most often ARE the fellows who do so, can be downright scary.
      THIS is why I can recommend that if one is a woman, traveling alone it would be a fab idea to know where the nearest police station, and/or the cop kiosk is, so that you can hightail it to one, should any trouble befall you.
      Truth be told, in some parts of Mexico there still is some outright hostility directed towards Gringos and Gringas, so ... do be on your guard, please.
      4) And, and while I am on the subject of problemas befalling the folks, I might as well tell you that you two are rather lucky that your phones have not been nicked as yet. I know of people who get them stolen right out of their hands, whilst they are riding on a scooter, and/or just walking down the street whilst holding their phones, which of course anyone and everyone does.

    The Mexican dog…The Xoloitzcuintle is one of several breeds of hairless dog. It is found in standard, intermediate, and miniature sizes. The Xolo also comes in a coated variety, totally covered in fur. Coated and hairless can be born in the same litter as a result of the same combination of genes.

    Sasha's Urban bistro has delicious food and a great vibe.
    Make sure you visit POLA ice-cream shop for authentic hand-made ice cream flavors.
    Don't forget to visit Uxmal and tour hacienda Mucuyche to the south.
    They are unforgettable experiences.

    I'm really enjoying your vids, Merida was beginning to sound really good until you said there was a lot of ex pats speaking English. Last week I got back from my first visit to Mexico, I stayed in an all inclusive hotel at Bahia Principe where for the first ten days I traveled to Playa Del Carmen and Tulum, I used a collectivo which was very cheap. Carmen was my favourite spot but I wanted to experience more of Tulum, that was until I nearly got robbed or murdered or both in a supermarket of all places so that was the end for me. I had traveled to Cuba for 25 years with no problems but Mexico was always the place I wanted to go. I will not give up because I know that there are beautiful and safe places in Mexico to visit. I don't think that the guys who were setting me up were Mexican as the security CCTV camera showed that one was about fifty and looked like a tourist.
    Anyway, what you are showing us is there is a good time to be had once you've done your homework. Keep up the good work.

    You have to check every place for yourself, saying that Merida is the safest place in Latin America is naive imo. I’ve lived in Colombia for 3 years for example, Bogotá, Cali, Barranquilla and Medellin, each city was very liveable, you have to find the areas that are suitable and discover and explore your options!

    • @AmoreLifeDigitalNomads
      @AmoreLifeDigitalNomads Год назад

      I(We) can answer for a few places: We have lived and worked all over Mexico for about 2 years, a month or so in each city. WE have also worked our way around Nicaragua, Guatemala a little bit in Costa RIca and a few places inbetween. I can say this about Mexico for sure, but for all of those places in general I will say the same - you can find awesome internet even in dinky little towns. You of course have a better change of faster internet in the bigger cities - but dont let the size of the town deter you, you may be surprised at what you find. If you are renting, ask a few key questions ahead of time. Ask not only how fast is it, but how stable and if any other rooms/units share the wifi. We stayed in a place in Oaxaca that had one modem/router for the entire apartment complex! lol Hotels in general for us, have been the worst... Just way too slow to get anything done. The first thing we do once we get moved in to a city - we find the nearest/best coworking office so if things crash we know exactly where to go! Best of luck to you!

    Some part of Mexico are safe esp in part of Mexico City or Cancun in the right areas and a few other places. But the top most powerful gangs and drug cartels are from Mexico because of the massive drug addiction appetite that Mexico satisfies for the United States. Mexico City or a several other cities is generally safe and isn’t anymore dangerous than your average American city like Los Angeles or New York City or Houston. And for expats from North America Mexico is the cheaper option and everything is within a 3-6 hour flight. And Spanish is way easier to learn than other languages because after all it’s a European language of one of the most powerful empires in the past.

      @@AmoreLifeDigitalNomads It lacked the excitement of other Mexican cities we’ve lived in and the stray dog situation is awful. Instead of helping them, some locals leave out food and poison it to lower the amount of stray dogs. There are even times people throw poisoned food into yards to kill pet dogs for noise reasons.

    • @AmoreLifeDigitalNomads
      @AmoreLifeDigitalNomads Год назад

      @@JK-nq1dl Yikes! That is sad. Thanks for the feedback. Those poor guys, the stray dog situation has been an issue in every single city that we have lived in. La Paz and Oaxaca may have been the worst I have seen so far. We are in the 'burbs here and havent seen many pups around. We have some friends joining us in a few days so we hope to get out and experience MORE of what Merida has to offer.
