Whatever Happened to The Wikipedia OPAL ?

  • The Wikipedia page has an image of a great piece of opal from Coober Pedy, South Australia. I bought the opal from a miner about 10 years ago but after grinding it a little, I decided to put it aside for when I was better a making cabochons out of opal.
Today, I found the opal along with another that I saved back then and I proceeded to cut and polish them The cabochons produced are sensational, particularly the one of "the Wikipedia Opal."

People wont know how tempting it is when rough opal is just sitting there waiting to be cut, especially of that quality! I commend you for having the restraint for a decade, a true pro!

@@PulitzerOpal You have an incredible amazing job to handle the opals as you do your talent speaks loudly
Been watching you for a while now, I live in Sofala NSW Australia an historic gold mining village pop. 83 the oldest still operating still producing Gold town in Australia and also known for its river th TURON not only the fastest rising fastest falling river in the southern hemisphere and the fastest flowing as well.
Built on a quartz and gem reef. Both my partner and I love prospecting and I am a self confessed rock hound addict. I also design my own jewelry and art pieces from the gems crystals and river finds like drift wood and wood rock art.
May be we could trade one day or collabe if you're ever in Australia would love to host you at our 1800 property the town's original court house.

That’s amazing! When I was living in Texas, the best thing that you could find for hunting arrowheads was a dried out arroyo - an area next to a stream that water has carved in its path to the stream. Of course, it doesn’t hurt, if the stream itself is low!

Have to do a trade or something I am so desperately trying to get my hands on some black obsidian oh and I can get you the biggest quartz specimen as big as a dinner plate and bigger the snowiest of white you have ever seen. I remember commenting about seeing your opal on the Wikipedia page and you confirming it about a year or so ago. Great to see you got around to cutting it, they both turned out really nice. I've never experienced the aura you spoke about, but then again I've only cut a few really high quality opals like the ones you make videos about. I hope you show us these two finished and set in jewelry. I wouldn't mind seeing a video or two about what your gemstones look like after they've been set in jewelry. I bet they're amazing. Thanks for another great video, I'm excited about you potentially making them more often.

Bruce is a keeper! I've had a handful of good sized rough opals that were 100% color after cutting. Definitely, something special about them. Best of mine were from Andamooka, however.

I’m not sure about that, because I have little experience with it. Coober Pedy WILL crack, but some fields don’t. I know that 8 mile, Olympic, and 23 mile fields are safe. They say that 15 mile is also stable. I’m sure that many others are safe, but I can’t tell you which. The specifics of Lightning Ridge are also unknown to me.
