Great sequence only, just curious about what the B-36 is dropping in this sequence. According to official Operation Redwing records, the drop nuclear weapon drop aircraft was not a B-36 as depicted, but a B-52. From the official DOD report "CHEROKEE was the first test at Bikini, a test event called for by DOD, and the only shot of the series not expressly for weapon development. The shot was rather a demonstration that the United States could air-deliver multimegaton yield thermonuclear weapons using B-52 jet bombers. The device, designed and developed by Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory (LASL), was airdropped from a B-52 and exploded at an altitude of 5,000 feet (1.5 kin) above Nam on 21 May 1956." The report also shows that a B-36 was used to drop blast measurement canisters by parachute so that 36 must be doing that? Either way, a B-52 dropped the thermonuclear weapon in Cherokee.

There's an older video on this channel that shows the same test, and you can definitely hear the 6 propeller driven engines of a B-36.
The B-36 might have been used for aerial photography and filming.
It was about 50 or 60 miles away from the test at a very high altitude.

This must've been filmed in the morning. Seen how fast those guys were throwing those horseshoes? Old School Type 1 coffee; was like liquid cocaine. Nobody plays horseshoes anymore. Now it's "corn hole". If those guys in this film were asked, "Wanna play corn hole?", there'd probably be a Colonel Kurtz jail made. You know, that makeshift jail made out of bamboo Kurtz had Willard put in for a while? Speaking of cocaine...Dennis Hopper was in that scene.
(yes, I know the camera motor was running slower than normal speed, causing things to look sped up when it was scanned later)

The MK-17 /MK-24 (pictured) only fit in the B-36.

That bomb being dropped from the B-36 isn't a Mk-15 like the one dropped in shot Cherokee it was Mk-17 ballistic test-shape used to test the parachute retarding system.

Seriously. US has a lot of desserted barren land. But opted to do nuclear test on this beautiful island. SMH
