Thank you for all your videos. Recently, my partner bought an almost complete set of tattoo supplies to support my dream to become a tattooist (machine, cartridge, ink, power, fake skin, gloves, stencil etc.). But when the items arrived, I had a sudden moment of panic and felt like I could not do it at all. I felt that she has invested too much in me, and am terrified that I might let her down, or that I cannot do it after all, or I'm gonna suck. Not just suck, but like super suck. Anyway, I watched almost all of your videos because I truly felt as if you're teaching me, and hope to have the courage to pick up the machine one day. Thanks again, get well soon.

      Just do it!
And try to be as calm as the dentist. Only first attempt may cause a bit of fear. Other attempts will be more and more confident. You can do it!

I just hold my needle sideways, that way u push/pull, perfect ink flow and can handle all weird angles. Problem solved.

Hi! I just started apprenticing and noticed you are a left handed tattooed could you please do a video on how you grip your machine. My mentor is right handed and I’m struggling with finding the correct video.

I literally hold my machine like i would a pencil or thick marker pen. Good luck with your apprenticeship! Thanks for watching 😁

  • @Michenseki

The only thing is, you had the cartridge facing the wrong way when pulling, which would affect the line quality. When I pull or push, the cartridge is always facing the direction that I’m going in.

I noticed i have more stability when I push instead of when I pull. Is that normal? Do we all just have different preferences?

Honestly I see these videos and everyone says something but then I watch all sorts of pros tattooing and some are pushing some are pulling and then most do both and even angle the needle. I've been trying to just keep a more upright needle and so far it's seems to be good. Really from what I found aswell is try to not go to deep for major blowouts and that should help a lot.

I've been tattooing 19yrs, just came across this channel & saw ur comment. As technical as tattooing is, it's still an art. And each artist, in time, masters their own stroke... meaning finding what works best for u. That's y u see pro's using both pull, push & sideways strokes when lining, at the end of the day it's about mastering the form in ur own way with the equipment ur using. If u have an apprenticeship, follow ur master's teachings, but also combine them with what feels right to u & gives u the best results. GL ✌🏽

      Jono has sadly passed away.
      RIP Jono.
I would recommend a Micky Sharpz coil machine, bear in mind that you'll need to learn how tune them. If you are a learner then I would use rotary tattoo machines.

  • @madcat257

I just cannot get my needles to not wobble when I use diamond tips instead of round tips.
Have you got any advice on how to fix it? I use a coil machine, I've slightly bent the bar, used the right elastic bands, matching size of needle and tip. Even if I push the armature bar it shakes about back and forth, so crazy shaky when the machine is on!
