    I think the main reasons why I despise Deadlock as a concept is that firstly, it's just another spin-off of DOTA that barely anyone asked for and Valve apparently learned nothing from Artifact; secondly, the game and art-style just looks so completely vapid, like it doesn't have any signature charm you'd find in older Valve games and genuinely could be easily replicated by any other studio like Blizzard or Riot; thirdly, while I'm not opposed to the concept of third-person shooters nothing about this looks fun or interesting like say Gears of War or Max Payne 3.
    Frankly, if you told me this was an obscure niche Xbox exclusive that came out 8 years ago and never gained enough popularity to hit any mainstream awareness, I would easily believe you.

      @@d0ct0rz3d4 The game is just frustrating to play, especially against other players. Due to TTK being so long, because MOBA, the early game becomes this game of playing passively and waiting for the enemy to overextend into your side of the lane, but most of the time you can't damage them enough to finish them off so they run away and this repeats until the really game starts ten minutes in when people have items. I've been saying it, it's the most fun I've had with a MOBA, but the shooter mechanics just aren't there and the MOBA aspects actively hinder what is there. It just feels very unsatisfying and infuriating. Unbalanced as well. Some character's ultimates are either broken and unusuable, or the best in the game and objectively better than others I've been playing a lot of Abrams, the weird blue Hellboy guy, and his ultimate is near useless in combat. The stun lasts such a short time that you have to have teammates nearby to make use of it, it's better as a bail out than an offensive tool. Then there's ultimates like McGinnis, which early game just melts players. It all just kind of feels like crap once you start really playing it.

    • @d0ct0rz3d4
      @d0ct0rz3d4 2 месяца назад

      @@southernninja7786 I think the fact that it's a moba first and shooter second sucks because a vast majority of the people who are going to be playing this game are going to be playing it like a shooter more than a moba, but they likely won't realize that until one of their teammates yells at them and insults them for not knowing this, which will be common since it's a moba and we all know how toxic those communities are. I'm also not ashamed to admit that I did very poorly since i'm only 5 hours in, i could barely manage to get 1 kill most of the time, but I didn't really feel bad about it since I'm not even passionate about the game in the first place and I'm not gonna waste 15 more hours just to be remotely decent and my adhd ass isn't patient enough to put up with the long ass games and 1 minute respawn times. Probably the thing that pisses me off the most about this game is the fact that it's obviously going to be heavily geared towards esports, which for some reason is something defenders of this game use as a positive and because of this there will def be a lot of MTX.

    Yoo is this guy again with a deadlock review, nice. From what i see, this game is kinda giving me Battleborn vibes, of all things. PROBABLY CAUSE IT'S THE EXACT SAME CONCEPT LOL HAHAHAHAHA. But no, like, seriously. Anyone remember Battleborn? Out of all of the comparisons I've seen, Battleborn is probably the least mentioned, but imo the closest to what we have here. Either way, still don't care about the game. Once it drops it's probably gonna get updated for 4 months, and after an additional 2 months people are gonna start calling it 'dead' or 'dying'. Might be fun to play with the boys. Asia will probably like it for a bit, till they turn back to league and dota cause micro managing is easier from a birds eye view. Cannot see how they can innovate in any field with this game. As a card game enjoyer, believe it or not, with artifact they actually had something that kinda looked like it could do some good for the genre, but yeah, they flubbed it. With this though? Not really? I mean it's just Battleborn in third person, which isn't a bad thing per se, but it is a waste of time. staff could have worked on anything cs related, maybe make it so that the poor l4d2 players can play their game without getting ddos'd, something something tf2, but nope. eh, it is what it is.

What's with this response to criticism of Deadlock with *BRO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, IT'S NOT RELEASED YET YOU CAN'T CRITICIZE IT!!!11!!!* The whole point of a play test is to give feedback, AKA criticism. @@southernninja7786"hands off the multi billion dollar company. The game is in a fully playable state, it is for the most part almost finished."
      Your words quoted verbatim.
      I don't think Valve would really care about the 5 minute segment in your video talking about the game's visuals and how out of place some characters are, like the ginger frozone in 1920's, when most of these characters and their models are placeholders and they are very obviously subject to change, anyone with half a brain knows that.
      Also not that you need to know the context about this but the reason that there are several sci fi characters is because that the game had a drastic artstyle change halfway through development and those futuristic designs are what remains.
      Rest of the video is valid imo, talks about gameplay and flow of the game is what it needs. Infact if you don't like the 1920's NY artstyle then that's completely fine too but saying stuff like "the arstyle is not cohesive" it's like.. yeah no shit. it's just that every criticism of this game I see has something to do with that exact overtalked point.

    • @southernninja7786
      @southernninja7786  2 месяца назад +4

      @@ruzgar1372 You say that like I somehow contradicted myself. Yes, the game is in an almost finished state, otherwise they wouldn't be doing this public play test like they are. Genuinely think about it for a second. A play test like this is nearly unheard of. The game is for the most part done, at least the core aspects are. Even with that said, my criticism of the characters are still valid, regardless of the stage of development and art style changes. I'm at a loss for words here as to why exactly this is a point I'd even have to defend. If I were paid to play test games, I'd still say the same things. The game is just a MOBA, which is antithetical to the shooter aspects of the game. The art style is in cohesive and late game is a mess visually. Just because the game isn't done, doesn't make it immune to criticism, that's the whole point of a play test.
      To further iterate this point on the characters though. They've already set out lore for the characters currently playable, going as far as also setting lore for the world of the game. It's clear that the characters are relatively finalized unless Valve is intent on throwing away all this work before release.

    • @ruzgar1372

      @@southernninja7786 Valve throws out a lot of work on the regular. They had several versions of TF2, each of them they scrapped completely which is why it took 9 years to develop. They cut out 90% of Half Life 1 and 2. Compare Half Life 2's leaked 2003 build to it's release build. Have you even heard of how many games they've cancelled completely? Valve throws out A LOT OF WORK in development, it's just what they do. The game "feeling" finished doesn't excuse the fact that there's still a lot of work for Valve to do. And yes they did write lore but besides the characters that are gonna stay for good e.g Seven, their lore looks like they could've been written in half an hour.
      Rest of the points I cba arguing. Have a good day / evening
