this is their “real world” concept btw they’re not done with their kwangya lore im glad it still had the aespa or old sm sound despite the concept change
I love spicy, glad they are still giving them their signature sound. This reminds me of F(x), another reason why I love it sm.
THIS
This is a High Teen Summer themed song, hence the summer vibes. So for those into K-pop would know these type of summer themed concepts only happen during summer, so don't be too concerned that their future releases will be like this. It's their "real world" concept, since their Kwangya (Black Mamba) series which wasn't in the real world, is over for now. "Welcome to my world" is different cuz it continues the Kwangya concept since they were in a peaceful setting with Naevis ever since they defeated Black Mamba in "Girls". The dude on the left has a point, this is a nice direction for Aespa cuz they were kinda stuck in the Kwangya concept for a long time. The dude on the right is confused cuz he seems to want Aespa to be stuck in the Kwangya concept, they may continue it later on cuz there was a hint that there's a new villain besides black mamba... but for now Aespa in doing "real world" concepts so they can expand their music diversity and besides they were already doing other real life concepts like Life's too short, Dreams come true, Unhappy, Thirsty, Salty and Sweet, etc... 😁
Man, its so helpful that u tell them why they are confused. This will really help Ace shape himself up and learn to understand why Aespa are awesome.
@@TheScreamMan Ya it takes more knowledge and effort to get into Aespa cuz of their vast Lore and history. Ace seemed to not fully understand their concepts and Lore, hence his confusion. He may not be a fan of summer concepts but having a bit of Aespa knowledge may help give a better understanding and appreciation.
@@Kimnojam That's an assumption. It also implies that once someone has the lore their appreciation for the beat of a song may change. While that's certainly a possibility, you made it seem like a statement.
If you had ASKED if Ace knew the lore and backstory of the song, and then waited to see, that would be one thing. But you were basically upset that he didn't like the song, and chose to assume it's because he just didn't get it. And that's kind of insulting.
Don't get me wrong; you were FAR more polite than a lot of these keyboard warriors. And it's that politeness and passion that makes me reply to you courteously as well. But it's important to remember that sometimes people just don't like a song that much. And that's OK too.
@@TheScreamMan He straight up didn't like it cuz his expectation was the Kwangya concepts, without realizing Aespa was on a new path. Watching the 4 pre-release MV's may have helped in liking the album overall or even the SM Culture 1-3 episodes for understanding. But pretty much all the songs were "real world" oriented except "Welcome to my World" which actually was originally meant for a solo Naevis comeback. Also the turmoil SM went thru after being bought by Hybe and now Kakao also affected the group since apparently the orignal title track was scrapped. And now their long time boss and producer Lee Soo Man left SM and gave production to younger producers.

this song grew on me so much actually, I listened to it on spotify without the music video and that made me like the song a lot somehow
for me, i know that aespa's sound is mostly experimental, but this song reminds me the most of some of f(x)'s older songs, who was sm entertainment's girl group back in 2009 and up, and was also known for their experimental sound

I LOVE this channel for its brutal honesty, so Ace can say whatever he wants to and more, please. Even if it is the exact opposite of my opinion, because I think this song is straight fire. Absolute heat. I can't get enough of it. And the looks NingNing and Karina give actually hurts, they're so great looking. I'm a huge Aespa fan and even so, I value Ace's (and the others) opinion. He doesn't like it, and it's absolutely fine. In fact, the only thing that bothers me is Dame pronouncing it "A"espa (the A is silent my dude). Otherwise, keep that honesty at 1000 guys, don't change and be like some of these other fake ass reactors that love everything.
I'm not a MY but I actually like Spicy - definitely a grower like Bang Bang said. Also weirdly enough I felt like going from Welcome to MY World -> Spicy on the album works somehow. Actually the whole album feels pretty cohesive despite how different all the songs are. But I can see why people might not like this track, especially at first

For me that song is one of their best, but everyone has their own taste
As soon as that DRUM kicked in in the very beginning, I was ready. The guitar sealed the deal. I like this track. Funkadelic-ish.
And to me music videos are merely advertisements. If I like the music, nothing else is needed to sell me. However, some music videos are pure entertainment themselves: The motif, set, costumes, choreography... This one isn't that. But I still like the track.
Give the song couple of listens and listen care to the instruments and I guarantee you’ll love it Ace
I can understand why this song can be rough to some on the 1st listen because of how experimental this song is produced. This song is a grower because if you listen to it a few more times you'll discover the layers of instruments and the chromatic moments of the song too. The percussion is the driving force in the song as well as you could bop your head to it unexpectedly. You try to not do it but you'll be hooked by it somehow.

This is apart of the real world concept, so there’s a whole explanation for the music video that i’m not gonna explain and you can find for yourself if you care to but it is still apart of the lore.
That's okay tho Ace, i understand many people didn't get this at first😂 but i think they're doing their final step of their "lore" after beating black mamba into pulp last time in Girls😂
I really liked the video and everyone's sincerity at the end of the MV... And really the change can please some and not others, I particularly loved this change from the Aespa girls, man this mini album of theirs is insanely good.. Guys they are too talented.
I feel like if they weren't getting hated a lot for their previous comebacks they wouldn't have switched their sound. but overall I love this song!

I prefer all the b-sides for a first listen (especially I'm Unhappy), but this one grew on me. Gives me Hot Summer + Tomboy + Icy vibes.
Yea i felt the same way on first listen. Someone tweeted that this sounds like a Britney × Pussycat Doll (2000s feel beat). Which helped the song grow on me faster. I agree with that, but Salty and Sweet it also feels familiar to a Pussycat Doll song with how Nicole would sing those songs. Either way, I can't wait to see if or how they tie this MV into the storyline.
The dude in the right and the girl that is talking in the back just DONT like the "aespa signature sound", everytime they will react to aespa they will hate it unless it is some kind of bside or pre release like welcome to my world. And is ok, i personally didn't liked spicy at first but then after listening a couple of times while re listening the entire album it got stuck with me, so the formula of aespa signature sound works and the charts, music video views and album sales tells you that this whole sound WORKS like magic.
I feel you Ace and 1080p. On 1st listen I wasn't impressed either. After listening a few more times it didn't make my playlist. But Thirsty? I have Thirsty on repeat. We need more of that from them.

I think it's perfectly normal to not like a song. Everyone has a preference so if your not vibing with something, it's perfectly fine. Not everyone will have the same taste.

Respect your opinion y’all! Love how y’all are real. I have similar thoughts, although I love many songs from the album. Spicy just didn’t really register with me. However, I’m glad they are expanding their concept.

I thought the pre-release was a WAY better song.
I tend to be the slow grower on their recent comebacks but this won’t be one of them. Thirsty remains the gem on this mini album

Somtimes the savage and spicy, the vocal was good but it was too loud for my ear and i love how WTMW and thirsty seems better for my taste imo

spicy was definitely something… she gave everything & nothing at the same time like that chorus is 10s across the board but everything else… like why a dance break y’all in the real world if you don’t throw an r&b sm bridge on that. but sm definitely don’t know wtf they doing w/ aespa, they look cute tho

Spicy is certainly a mixed bag for me. Personally, I like Savage the most and this song felt a little safe to me. I love experimental Aespa, although I enjoyed Welcome To My World. I like the chorus of the song, but the verses are a bit unmemorable this time round.
So we got license to hate on Ace? Cool, because this is a banger, no doubt.
However, the lyrics are odd. It's almost like they were written by a non-native English speaker. Check out the extra syllables and places were contractions would have been better. Aespa and SM Town have enough money to do way better. Way better.
For example Giselle says "No, you won't get it" then comes back with the same line in a different cadence, when it would have been better to just shorten it to "won't get it' and leave out the "you." Or something more creative. Also, "honestly" ends two stanzas instead of dropping a different rhyme. Maybe "I'm bad as you can see." If I have to edit the lyrics, I'm working.
That aside. It's still a banger. And the visuals are dope.

I hadn't thought about the Pussycat Dolls vibe, but it makes some sense? The hook and the second verse are what stands out the most to me. As BB said, it's a grower. And yeah, Ace is right in that it makes no sense right after Welcome to MY World. The video tracks do make some sense in the order they came out (I'm unhappy, Salty and Sweet, Thirsty).
Anyway, Ace, I don't hate you. And you guys aren't wrong. This is Moonshine, and sometimes it can feel... noisy? I don't know. In any case, thanks for reacting!

I love this song and the album lmao I just think Acd and 1080p don't like it because it's the exact opposite of what Aespa normally does and it took them awhile to get into that side of Aespa. Spicy is pretty basic kind summer song especially in K-POP/SM it's very F(X) this song is.
I'm curious about where they'll go, since the main engine behind their concept and their producer have left SM. So the whole concept might change... Or not. Who knows?

The MV feeling so different is understandable and this actually cements aespa’s brilliancy in choosing their lore since their concept’s foundation, the kwangya, allows them to be flexible & versatile since it is a ruleless and limitless space. Anything can happen. They are subjected to change and it’ll still stay true & flow well with their lore. The previous SMCU Episode showed their transition to REAL WORLD. That’s the main point and it’s so brilliant because the argument of them slipping away from their EDM futuristic concept & leaving their kwangya lore will never be valid because everything is still part of the storyline. And aespa has already successfully established their kind of sound. They will always have an edm vibe to their songs, especially for their title tracks. I'm sorry, but I really am so disappointed with all of you guys. I have always been open about your unpleasant reactions especially towards Next Level and Savage and I commended you for being honest but this one just feels so unfair because it felt like you never gave yourself a time and chance to appreciate the song. You didn't like Unforgiven by Le Sserafim too but you were kinder with your comments with them. Here, it's just flowing with hate. Even after you said that you loved the hook, you never tried to atleast bop to the song and open up. It's saddening for me because I expected you to love it, I most especially thought Ace would love it because among the three, he's the one whose music taste is closest to mine. This is kinda shocking knowing that you're a red velvet and nct fan. I thought you'd be open to hear the instrumentals. You're one of the fewest reactors who truly appreciates good vocals but you chose to overlook their voices on this one. Out of all the reactions I've watched, you're the only reactor/chanel that utterly disliked the entire song. Ace, I hope you loosen up the next time and don't instantly put out a conclusion in your impression the second the song starts. Allow yourself to enjoy good music because aespa's discography is truly magnificent and they wouldn't be a sister to RV and NCT, one of your most favorite kpop groups, if they weren't hella good. spicy is my least favorite track from the mini album, but it definitely is a grower. believe me. i'm not usually into having to listen to a song multiple times to be able to like it, but it took me 3 to 4 listens for me to understand the first verses better. i didnt enjoy the cadence in the first half at first listen either. i prefer their edgy concepts, even if it is a complete hit or miss for most people, cause i believe the girls are all very edgy and cool toned overall. however, they've been stuck in the kwangya thing for too long. "real world" has always been mentioned in their lyrics and ningning even said she first heard spicys demo during her debut, so they were antecipating it. aespa had never done a high teen, super bright and joyful song before (lifes too short is there, but its not the same theme or message tbh). i don't think ace needs to know the lore to enjoy the song more, people just don't like songs sometimes 😭😭 lol its not that deep, everyone!! however ace I SEE YOU and i do get a lil petty cause ive seen you enjoy much worse!! im not naming names but im watching you!!! 🤫 thank you for the reaction. hope yall enjoy the mini album
OH and also aespa had always been criticized for not being relatable enough cause of their metaverse concept. i believe the change also took notes on that. while all 4th gen girls are singing about certain topics, aespa is deeply invested in their lore and cause of that they did lose part of the younger audience

People said it sounds "itzy coded" which I agree with. It's like Sneakers mixed with Blah x3 mixed with Icy. The chorus is the best part imo. I feel like SM is just riding the wave of trending aesthetics for ggs within the past year, applied it to them and called it "real world" for this comeback. Lee Sooman and Yoo Youngjin are also gone so i think their concept might undergo a change. It's so different from the futuristic Kwangya stuff and the song is a lil more palatable than Girls or Savage so I think thats why more people are loving this comeback the most. Although I like the song, I also agree the styling isn't that great and it gets a lil repetitive. Ace is killing me tho😭

What does Ace enjoy then? Because he doesn’t like one thing Aespa has put out but he likes some groups who put out songs are similar and just as or more confusing than aespa’s sound. I just want to know what genre he likes because it’s weird he’s only like this with aespa. And I don’t mean this is a mean nasty way but like aespa does many different sounds like every other K-pop group but when it comes to aespa not only does he “hate” but he has a whine in his voice like he’s annoyed with them too.
I mean there are a lot of reviews on this page, and many of them have very positive reviews from Ace. It's not too easy to get a taste for his.... taste, once u get the hang of it.

I'm not crazy about the song either. It was like a mixture of next level and girls (i liked girls). The video had a clueless teen crush vibe that I've seen so much already, and the choreo was very bland. The main move they do is again VERY comon. The chorus was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 though.

For me this is the worst aespa title track ever.And I love their music.For me,Nmixx and Aespa are literally doing the same thing.Great vocalists providing a unique genre of music.I loved next level and I loved drama.But,this track is just not nice to listen to.Have to give it to Ace on this one.
