3000 series Massey is a good solid tractor, nothing wrong with them in my opinion. Excellent result there finding the problem in the electrics. I had a problem with the lift de activating itself on a 6270 no mater how many times you activated it with the rocker switch until it wouldn't activate itself at all, after a lot of testing wires and connections i found the wire plug connection was dodgy to the panel in the cab with the draft, height and lowering speed knobs on, someone had been working at it before we bought the tractor and hadn't put the locking nut back onto the multi pin connection, I tightened up the nut that held the pins in place and that was the end of the problem, simple fix but finding the bad connection is a different matter completely.
Had the same problem, some years ago. The mechanic first meant it was the hydraulic sensor, later I found out it was the computer. Found someone who sold this refurbished computers, in exchange for my faulty one. It worked oud great, costs me around 400 Euro.
Hi, great channel and fantastic information 👍 I have a 6180 and i bought it last year it had manual forward/ reverse fitted. And when I got it home I only noticed it wouldn't go into low box when I shifted over stick. I still worked away in hi and everything else worked. But this summer when I started her the 1,2,3,4 sticks in 3,4 position. I'm still working it every day by holding stick over to right hand side before I start engine and I can work away around yard. Wondering can you shine any light for me?? Keep the good work up 👍
Hi mick seen a few 61s where the wires have twisted round and come off the hi low switch on the side of the. Gear box. And seen a 3000 series where you could push the forward reverse lever to far and it would jam in either direction and you have to rock the tractor on the clutch to get it back into neutral, could be gear linkage on the inside of the side cover causing this glad your enjoy the channel 🛠️
@MARKMECHANICAL Thanks for your reply 👍 It's the 1,2,3,4 that goes solid when tractor running? I'll have to pull side plate off some day only a pain coz one tractor ☹️ Keep the good work up 👍
Cheers Jordan , I think a sparex sales rep came round to my old work and I bought it from him , it’s a good few years ago , and I’ve never seen them since .
Glad it helped, propper frustrating fault with this 3065 as it could be ok for days and then fault 5 times in 5mins which is no good on a corn drill. 👍🛠️
Very interesting Video, I was an Agricultural Engineer back in the late 60s early 70s worked mostly on Nat's & Fergies and remember the first John Deere's coming in the Country( Lower Link Sensing) Ha! No Fancy Cabs with Heating, AC &stereo's Fitted hundreds of Roll Cages when Law changed Went to Langor, Nottingham for JDeere Service Courses and City Rd, London for International Could split a Massey 165 in the Farmyard and fit a new Clutch put back together in under an Hour! not bad going at Silage Time!! The Olden Days HA HA Best of Luck
Great video. Nice bit of trouble shooting. Good to keep the old kit going. Where is David King located? How to you rate the 3000 series 6000 series. Have a 6170..
Cheers Yerac . I think dave king is located in Stratford upon Avon uk , great service from him. I do like the 3000 series. Not quite as keen as the 6000 series with the forward and reverse Shuttle. I prefer the forward and reverse on the extra gear lever. Gives less bother 🤣🤣🛠️👍
@@MARKMECHANICALcut my teeth in the ag trade on the 6100/8100 series. In the early days the electro/hydraulic/mechanical fwd/rev was a nightmare. What was offered to many customers (and lots took them up on the offer) was to convert to twin stick gear levers (just like the fabulous 3000/3100 series) Interesting that the auto 1 used to cause quite a few PTO faults like this yet the auto 2 pretty much never did.. Biggest trouble I found was with location is corrosion of joining connectors (especially the red and yellow power wires)
Hi ive got a massey 3635 and the rear linkage stops working intermittently the lights go off on the control box . Ive swapped the controll box from different tractor still no better. The pto and everything still work fine . Could it be the position control cencor ?
Been brought up with tractors ,machines and welding, always watching and working with my dad, then the day after I left school I worked full time for a agco and Jcb dealer and completed an apprenticeship. Worked there for 7 years, then thought I would have a go on my and have been for a couple of years now.
@@MARKMECHANICAL Good lad. No one seems to want to be a mechanic anymore. It’s never done me any harm. Youngsters always seem to want to be a celebrity or a city trader. Or just a coke head…….😆
I have Massey Ferguson 3635. It shows transmission sign and battery sign on the dashboard and not moving forward and reverse . I change the new battery and transmission oil but still showing both signs and tractor still not moving but pto works good. Please let me know if someone can help, thanks

Could you tell me the place you found that refurbished your computer? Mine is also having issues, thank you!
1st time watching your video's. Very interesting. Have subscribed.
@@kevinjensen539 glad you enjoyed them thanks for subscribing 👍🛠️
The black plug on the autotronic box has 2 crosshead screws which sometimes come loose. By tightening them, sometimes faults dissappear on their own.
Really enjoy your video grace and peace
Thanks Ron
Very good video, very knowledgable 👍

Where do I start with error detection? Frog mode was difficult to switch on for a while, but now it can't be switched on. What could be the problem?
Good video. What’s your history Mark, training etc if you don’t mind me asking. You seem quite young
