N'Sync are finally enjoying the fruits of their labours after three years and are finally given their Royalty Check. It was only $10,000.00 US which was a joke. They sued Lou Pearlman got out of the Contract but alot of Groups got shafted. TLC sells a 10 Million Copy Album and still declare bankruptcy and The Bay City Rollers to this day never got paid.

    No matter how many times I watch this ep (it’s been a few brings me comfort) all I take from it is that Sean disliked everyone, and then jsut complained throughout. He lied about what happened with Jay (who confirmed it when he filmed his own episode) and then during the reunion he didn’t like anything and was always yelling. Everyone was so professional except for him

      Absolutely! Look at what happened with Jon Knight of New Kids On The Block. When they Broke up, he woke up and looked around the Family house and saw how quiet it was. No Groupies, Hangers On, etc. He got depressed haed to take meds, and go to therapy. He didn't come out at the time, and that may have affected him. He's done very well for himself as a House Flipper and is married to a Man named Harley.

    Popstars back in the 90s had short life spans because they were signed on by record label based on novelty and good looks which was marketed for the music videos and teenagers. Not saying they are not talented, Im just saying artistry is the one thing they really lacked. The one reason why The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Maddonna et al. are still selling records and appealing to todays generation is because they are true artists. People who can make music that withstands the test of time.

    • @laminage

      You are so right on! When Eden's Crush (US Popstars 2001), were created it was during the Latin Music Invasion with Mark Anthony (Jennifer Lopez's Ex Husband), Jennifer Lopez herself, Ricky Martin, Shakira (Who Record For Gloria & Emilio Estafan's) Label as well as Enrique Iglesias. Three of Them are Latin (Ana-Maria, Rosanna, & Ivette) while Maile Misajon (Pronounced Mylee Misahon the E is Silent) who is part Irish & Hawaiian, and Nicole Scherzinger who is Russian, Filipino, Hawaiian & Chinese. She was public enemy Number One because like Nadine Coyle in Girls Aloud (UK Popstars), she got alot of leads. She didn't make any Bank off of this group nor The Pussycat Dolls who were called a Prostitution Ring.

      Aww, how sad. It kind of reminds me of Jamie Kelly who missed out on being part of New Kids On The Block because he didn't pay attention and listen to what he was told. In the late 1980's and early 1990's he worked as a Truck Driver Shoveling Snow for The City, got his wages and squandered them at the Bars, and had nothing by Monday. Eldridge "Al" Bryant was in The Temptations who got fired in 1963, then the Group goes on to superstardom without him, and in 1968 he sees Otis Williams the only surviving member of the Group and he's a Mess. HIs Clothes are a mess, so is his hair, and he's an alcoholic. He died of Liver disease but in reality he died of a Broken Heart. I would have loved for US Self Help Guru Dr. Phil McGraw or Spiritual Guru Iyanla Vanzant to talk to him. Iyanla "Read" The Girlfriend of Tito Jackson's Son saying "You want to live the Life of Being A Jackson with the Money but it's not there."

      +laminage the American music industry can get very lonesome. these dreamers with broken hearts need to understand life isn't all about success, fame and fortune. I live in Southeast Asia, and people here are content on the little things that keep them alive and happy.

    • @laminage
      @laminage 6 лет назад

      You are lucky. The Folks of Asia and India are very spiritual and you live by "Less Is More". Also remember alot of these kids come from Low Income Familes, chances are their Father ran out on them, most don't even finish school so to be told you can go from having nothing to having it all, who'se going to say no to that. Yet nobody teaches them to have a Plan B, be self sufficient and self reliant and when things go bad, they don't know why.

    • @joeridgechua
      @joeridgechua 6 лет назад +1

      I would actually say everybody in this world is just fortunate to breathe air. Plenty of circumstances define our character, career, etc. but I've always believed that life occupies a greater faculty in between these "defining" moments, such as the basic yet essential acts of walking and eating. This line of thought allows me to cope all the bad stuff.

    Looking back Liberty X was so lucky especially when you saw that Phixx (The Popstars: The Rivals) Rejects, didn't make it and the same thing happened with LMNT which consisted of a Former Boy Band Member of O-Town and a couple of other "Rejects". Ikika who left O-Town admitted that Lou Pearlman (That Perv) wanted him to be his "Boy". They were also very lucky because even though they weren't initially "chosen" they got a second chance. In The US alot of folks tried to form another Boy Band and it never went far. LMNT consisted of Bryan Chan, Mike Miller who were Two Rejects from O-Town and Ikika Kaohano who chose not to be in O Town at the last Minute and Matthew Morrison who also was on The Soap Opera As The World Turns, did Glee and of course worked with Cheryl Ann Tweedy and Oti Mabuse on The Greatest Dancer.

    Looking back they were lucky to do what they did. They got closure, they healed they look back on the past and found out through some humiliating experiences that "Pop Music Giveth, Pop Music Take Away". Also, did any of them come out with anything. I look at The US Pop Groups from O-Town, Eden's Crush, Scene 23 and LMNT (Pronounced Element) which consisted of Two O-Town Rejects and a Young Man named Ikika who was Part White/Part Hawaiian, who although was in O-Town quit and was replaced by a Man named Dan Miller and would never do what these guys did. O-Town got screwed over much worse by Lou Pearlman who launched the Careers of Backstreet Boys & N'Sync and US5. None of them made Bank, in fact one Former O-Town Member Ashley Angel once had a Bank Balance of Negative 25.00 who would later star in Wild Things 4.

    What Liberty X were trying to do were "Reinvent" themselves and sadly it doesn't always work out. New Kids On The Block Found that out the hard way. They went from Singing "The Right Stuff" to "Dirty Dawg", they were trying to cash in on The New Jack Swing Movement created by Guy, with Blackstreet (Teddy Riley's Other Group), R. Kelly, Keith Sweat & Bell Biv Devoe and nobody was buying it. In The African American Press, they were vilified along with George Michael (RIP) and Sheena Easton as White Acts who did R & B Influenced Music and having more fame than The Actual Black Singers themselves. In future years they would "diss" Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and The Backstreet Boys.

      @@jeniestra. Actually East 17 had the more global audience. A quick bit of investigation and you will see that's true. 5ive did not make it in the US. They had one single that reached number 10 ("When the Lights Go Out") and nothing after that. Simon Cowell said on more than one occasion that he wanted "Slam dunk da funk" to remind people of East 17. 5ive were very popular indeed, but in my original comment I was merely commenting on what you said about their ability to capture different types of audiences, that's all. Not doubting their popularity in general.

    What happened with Liberty X and Hear'Say kind of paralleled The Backstreet Boys and N'Sync. When N'Sync first started out , they were thought of as a ripoff of the Backstreet Boys. Yet look what happened. N'Sync was just as big and when "Gone" came out, it was The Coronation of Justin Timberlake as a Superstar. The UK always had a Market for Boy Bands/Girl Groups but if there was one thing that they had in common with their US Counterparts. They didn't know how to handle their lives after the Fame ended. They were very brave because their US Counterparts would never do a Reunion like that. Eden's Crush, (US Popstars), 3LW, O-Town, Play, Dream, would never share a stage the way these guys did.

    You know what's so quirky. In her Book Kimberley Walsh talked about how she was in The Lineup to audition and Nicola was ahead of her by Two Folks. Menudo The Latin Boy Band was also signed to RCA who had a deal worth 30 Million Dollars which was the biggest deal at that time. However Menudo went through various Group Changes (By Rule) and one of them Miguel Cancel ended up as a Fry Cook at Burger King.

    Dear God! These Kids had too much excess too soon and too quick. It seems to me that nobody smacked their hands if need be and say "No!". Better yet, tell them that New Kids On The Block, were once very big they are not now, nor are The Osmonds and if could happen to them, it can happen to you. Each Group averaged around Nine Million Records each. I'm sure for some of them, they were able to get closure while others hoped that this would be a "Comeback".

    The biggest problem Five had is that started acting like "Pop Stars" before they became "Pop Stars". Also they believed their own hype. I remember when Debarge was featured in Right On (America's First African American Teen Magazine) and they were so adorable, Black Girls put them on their Walls and lockers at School. They were Big from 1982-1985 but when they stopped coming to rehearsal on time, not to mention James's and Bunny's Drug Addiction (Illegal & Prescription) they slowly went downhill. In Vibe a HIp Hop Magazine, their lives were H@ll, abuse, domestic violence. Older Brother Bobby who was Bisexual ended up in Prison got out and died of AIDS, Brothers Chico & El did time in Prison and El was so desperate for Drugs, he sold his Music Catalogue. Now whenever a Hip Hop Group samples his Music he doesn't get paid.

Also, how do you think she felt that Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins felt when she and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes didn't fight for her.

      I never thought she looked fat. She always looked alright to me. I was a Liberty X fan back in the day but I never realised there was a lot of dark stuff going on behind the scenes. They always seemed so happy on TV from what I remember and I watched nearly everything they were on. I wonder if they all knew how serious Michelle's diet pill addiction was? Jessica said on the show she didn't realise but what did the others think?

    • @laminage
      @laminage 6 лет назад +1

      Yes. Karen Carpenter who died 35 Years Ago this Month thought she was Fat. She had it as a Little Girl but she outgrew it. At Sixteen she did an audition where she sang Looking For Love that sounded like a Burt Bacharach Song. Jim Bettis who owned Magic Wand Records said "This Chubby Girl Can Sing", I don't think he realized the damaging effect he did on her. Also, Karen's Parents were a Pain in The @ss. They felt she and Richard owed them since they moved from Connecticut, to Los Angeles to help them make it. Instead of being proud of their kids, they were needy of their time, attention and money and Mrs. Carpenter was jealous of her daughter the way Cissy Houston was jealous of Whitney Houston's (RIP) success.
